My mother and I are visiting LA in late March for a few days, and while we are out there we decided it would be fun to experience Disneyland. We've never been but are WDW vets. We only have one day. Yes, just one day to squeeze in all the magic possible. What are some things I absolutely have to do? Where should I eat? Etc. Please give tips and advice. I'm clueless about the other coast. Keep in mind I am 16 and mother is late 40's.

My first and foremost reccomendation is not to compare DL to MK. If you do you may be disappointed.

That being said the matterhorn bobsleds are great. Pirates is different than at MK so for me it is a must. I like it better at DL but you will find people who feel the reverse is true.

I am not sure on the resturants because dd and I normally bring our own food but we always get and enjoy the frozen lemonade.

Depending on the day of the week....
There are days when DL and DCA are open later.... DL is always open later than DCA

On our last trip, we had a full week but on our first day this is what we did.
Arrived early and went to DCA first. Its a smaller park and we were able to sweep through it and do all the major attractions in less than an hour. There were so few people there, everyone once in a while we would look around and wonder if we were the only ones there.
Once you've done that head over to DL and spend the rest of your time there.

Others may disagree, Because DL is usually busier you may want to go there early before the big crowds. Which might be a good idea if its a weekend or a time of year when the crowds are heavy.

Another plan of attack may be to do DL first and do the big rides early, then head over to DCA since its smaller and usually less crowded, then go back to DL after dinner and take in what you missed the first time.

All this assuming you are planning to do both parks. We also have been there many times and have seen EVERYthingand had many days to come back So sweeping through was easy for us.

As for eating...we went no frills and did the usual Denny's, IHOP, Mcdonalds route and saved one special dinner...which for us was the Rain Forest Cafe in Down town Disney.

I hope you have a lot of fun!!

If it's really busy, avoid the Village Haus. Not to blast the food or staff, but the 'crowds' stink. To be polite.;)

Thanks for all the help so far. Anyone else have suggestions about restaurants. That's our favorite part about Disney.

Avoid the weekend.

Dining options are not as numerous as WDW. There are fewer sit down TS options inside the parks.

Spend time in Fantasyland, you will see many original themes on rides.

Be sure to ride thre train, as it is a show all in itself.

March can be rainy season here, so be prepared for it.

Lastly, make a list of "Must Do" rides and shows and plan your day around it.
