My MIL has had this app on her iPad for a while, but dd re-discovered it this weekend and spent about 2 hours exploring it. Every now and then she'd say something like "I just wish it wasn't so far away" or "so expensive" and "I really wish I could go there some day." Sometimes she would just sigh and say "That would be so fun." or "If I ever go, I definitely want to do that"

OMG. I was about to burst. We are surprising them for Christmas with the trip. I can't wait! :cool1:

But, if anyone is planning at trip, and has an iPad the app is pretty neat. It's like a virtual tour of the parks. You can click the different attractions to either get pics, a video, or a game for that attraction.

I believe it is just for DL.
We have had the app on the iPad for a while. DD loves checking it out.
Her favorite part lately was looking for the Yeti on the Matterhorn. She would tell me over and over that she wanted to go meet Harold. LOL. When we went on our October trip, we headed straight for the Matterhorn. DD had not been on the ride yet because it was closed during her first two trips. Poor thing was so scared. She just rode it with her head in her lap the whole time.

This is neat. I will have to load it on my new ipad. I won it in a raffle just last week that I completely forgot that I bought a $5 ticket for. Any other Disney related apps I should add?

DS absolutely LOVES this app too. His favorite is definitely Mickey's house where he can watch a lot of the classic Mickey cartoons and Mater's with clips of Mater's Tall Tales. He also likes this short video of the Pirate's Lair on Tom Sawyer's Island which we are hoping to check out because neither DH or I have ever heard about it. He also loves the little POTC game.... :scratchin Ok, so he obviously loves pretty much the whole app....

He still doesn't quite have a concept that it's a real place though so we'll ask him if he wants to go there and he'll say "No, I'm trying the Mickey house" or just describe what he's doing on the app itself.

We also have Mickey's Road Rally games which is an awesome interactive game that is built just like Mickey Mouse Clubhouse where he gets to literally participate in order for anything to happen. For instance, there's a part where Pete is learning how to ride a bike and he has to yell "Go Pete!" several times in order for him to move. Lots of counting, shapes, recognition, etc.

We also have the new Jake and the Neverland Pirates app which he likes a lot also. There's stuff like using the iPad's gyroscope to steer the pirate ship either toward buoys of different colors or away from alligators and rocks. Also, there's a pixie dust style maze where he has to draw out triangles or squares to drop things on Captain Hook.

Come to think of it, all three of these apps are free and are full of so much great content (both style and substance) that DH and I would have gladly paid money for each. Our son absolutely loves these apps and although they're mostly fun they're still fairly educational (except the DL one which is just pure fun). I think it's awesome that Disney actually put these out for free.
