Disneyland Experts, help me out:

I think the article was great and exactly how I felt about the world after being a land vet! Magic kingdom was a total "meh" for us and I always tell my friends to not even bother with the park hopping. Also we stayed offsite which we would never do again. The are totally different parks and I think you have really great advice on the main differences!

Good article!

WDW is our "home" resort. I've taken many trips throughout my childhood and adulthood. We did our first Disneyland trip last summer and were amazed at how many rides were better versions in DL than WDW. However, the one thing that we missed going to DL were all of the wonderful shows that WDW has. I'm not talking about the nighttime shows, but the ones like Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Nemo, etc. I think DL vets may tend to go to WDW thinking about the rides, since that is what they primarily do at their home park, and might miss out on seeing some of the wonderful shows that WDW has to offer. So, maybe you could add something reminding DL vets to be sure to experience the shows, not just concentrate on the rides? Just a thought because we were really surprised at the lack of shows at DL!

Hmmmm, I take slight offense at that only because there are two good Broadway style shows (Aladdin, Mickey & the Magic Map) and my favorite Billy Hill & the Hillbilles. Plus the new storytelling shows at Fantasy Faire which are similar to Belle's Enchanted Tales. Yes, not the same number as shows as WDW, but you're also talking about the difference between four parks vs two.

I think this fits under the OP's original point here:

9. Do all the things you love at Disneyland. If you love shopping on Main Street, shop. If you love meeting the characters, meet characters. Disney World might not feel like Disney if you don’t take time to do the things you normally do at Disneyland.

If you like to go to shows at Disneyland, then go to the shows at WDW. If not, then don't. Personally, I love Lion King, Finding Nemo puts me to sleep every time and Beauty and the Best is OK (imnsho ;-)

Easy now, LOL! I did not mean to offend anyone. :) All I was trying to say was that we found DL to be much more ride oriented than WDW and therefore some DL vets might tend to skip over shows because they are used to doing mostly rides. We found that DL had better versions of MANY of the rides and more of them which we really enjoyed but that is why I could see DL vets possibly disappointed because they may be expecting more rides at WDW, where WDW seems to have more of a balance of rides, shows, and other entertainment.

And honestly, even though I've been to WDW many more times, I don't know that I could pick which one i like best. They are very different and each has its own unique feel. I love both of them!

I had never thought about the lack of shows of Disneyland. We LOVE Aladdin so much it was like a giant show extravaganza in one show. Mickey and Magic Map wasn't there yet. So does that mean we only saw one show? And we saw the MadTParty. Which I didn't really get.

Hmmm... we saw Turtle Talk with Crush. We went to the Animation class. Huh. Well, I guess I didn't really miss the lack of shows much. It didn't make my radar of differences.

Edited to say: Tiki Birds!!! While eating a Dole Whip. We loved that.

Ha! Me too! We skipped Beauty and the Beast, but Kid #2 and I absolutely LOVED the Lion King show. Kid #1, on the other hand LOVED Nemo, and I actually did nod off for a moment. Had the seating been more comfy it would have been a great nap spot.
