Disneyland Eliminates Early Entry for Resort Hotel Guests Beginning January 5, 2026

All in all, after 18 pages of huffing, puffing, whining and crying, hand wringing, cursing (at least in our minds), like most things....more will be said than done. Those who want to stay on property, can afford it and don't think twice about this particular amenity will continue to stay at DLH, GCH, PP and villas. Others who can't afford it, those who can afford but really utilized this perk and are angry will vote with their pocketbook and stay elsewhere.

Since I travel solo and can't afford it and have allegiance to another place, it won't matter to me at all.

I do think, as someone mentioned above, it may be brought back as a "surprise perk" at some point and since no one remembers history anymore...people will think how grand Disney is for giving them something we got all the time back in the day for just purchasing a ticket! Oh, for the good ole days....🤣

In the words of Star Trek's Spock Disneyland has done a "highly illogical" mistake to guests who go there a lot for vacation. But when you get the general picture I think Disneyland should've replaced the Lightning Lane pass with a voucher for a photopass during character dining and you would have a deadline to use it until your last day of your trip which is when the voucher would expire and it would be used at either Goofy's Kitchen or Storyteller's Grill and it would help guests a lot. But I also agree that Disneyland is trying to become like Las Vegas and for comparison when people plan a Las Vegas vacation they usually give people vouchers and coupons for shows and dinners at the resort they chose. And when people plan a trip to Reno Nevada the same vouchers and coupon system is used. And when people go to New York the people receive vouchers and coupons for restaurants and discounts on Broadway show tickets too. But if Disneyland could invent a voucher and ticket system for it's guests at Disneyland Resort hotels it would be a smart idea that would work. But watch for articles about this elimination in magazines such as Fortune Forbes Money and Consumer Reports because these magazines will talk about this change at Disneyland

I can see how this might appeal to some, but the last thing I want is for Disneyland to emulate Las Vegas or Reno. I personally really hate those places. And I don't want vouchers or coupons, I want service and amenities. I don't need photopass as it's included on my MK and for those who don't have it, it seems like linking it to character dining would not be a savings but another expense.

I am sad that they've done away with EE but I know it's not coming back. I do think they should replace it with something that will appeal to most guests at the Disney hotels and feel like an honest effort to give something that feels like a comparable value. I don't know what that might be, but I would prefer a Disney gift card to LL or vouchers etc.

I certainly hope that is not their strategy. If everyone is using LL than no one is using LL
Don't worry! They'll up the LL price to keep the demand down! ...dang Mouse just keeps winning...

Someone earlier expressed the same sentiment and also failed to continue that thought line to it's final conclusion. I can guarantee the people who book on-site hotels who are now moving off-site are not going to be sleeping on the streets. They're going to be your new hotel competition.

This is very well put. I am in the camp of can afford it technically but can't justify on property all the time. We are staying in October but not November because I'm paying for my parents room as well. Can we afford it? Yep, but I really can't justify $8000 for the two rooms when we can stay down the street for so much less, even with early entry I just couldn't do it. Now in January we were planning on GC but have switched to across the street. I 100% was so looking forward to a whole week at the GC but without early entry will not pay that price. I'm one who even though we don't always stay on property, they have lost our hotel business. I also know that will not hurt them in any way.

Now if they do bring it back as a perk I'll happily stay there on some trips. I am still super salty about it though because my daughter and I were so looking forward to staying in January and neither of us love change.
