Disneyland Divas working out, getting healthy, and looking fine in '09!!

Jen - Glad you made it back safely! It was great seeing you and it was really nice meeting your husband and the boys! They are adorable. I felt like a stalker we were about 20 people behind you and the boys on IASW too! :goodvibes but didn't want to make a scene yelling at you or jumping up and down! :rotfl: Welcome to WW online!

On the weight note...I did really good or so I thought at DL this weekend. We didn't eat any of my favorite foods. I entered what I had eaten into the WW point tracker and I stayed within my points and used only a couple of my weekly points but I weighed this morning and I didn't lose even one oz. Ugh!!! This is so slow and I've been being really good!! I think I'll drink more water because I can't really cut down on the amount of food because if each point is roughly 50 cals then I am eating around 1150 cals now. Oh well...onward and downward hopefully!

Everyone have a great day!

You should have said hello at IASW! We had so much fun on that ride. It's turned into a "I SPY the character" game ride.

So I'm back to WW online. I'm doing the Simply Filling plan (which used to be called Core last time I did this). Really what I need at this point is to make better, more healthy food choices and to minimize how much sugar I eat. I am definitely an apple shape who stores any extra weight on my belly and I think exercise and less sugars is supposed to help with that. Last time I did Core (or now Simply Filling), I felt really good energy wise. I just got off track with one of those sugary holidays (can't remember which one now) and was unable to get back on track. Have you tried the Simply Filling?

Here's a link to plateaus on the WW online site:
http://www.weightwatchers.com/plan/int/planguide_13.aspx

Good luck! And congrats on keeping on track with WW and exercise! :woohoo:

Did anyone see Biggest Loser last night? OMG--it was so inspiring. Gave me a little energy to do a little better with all my choices and exercise!

Kids are off to school and it's time to get to working.

Hey all...hope everyone is doing well on their individual journeys. I was planning on starting WW on monday but now have to work a double that day so I asked my mom if she could pick up the kids on wednesdays so I could go to the meeting here in town and she said yes so I am going to start tonight. I am excited. I also watched BL last night and was shocked by the winner! I didn't think she stood a chance. I also think that the reason some of the at home contestants didn't have as dramatic looking losses was because of how big they were to start. I think they lost the same precentages of people on past seasons but those people had less to lose and the closer you get to your goal the bigger difference you notice. Just my 2 cents. Anyway, there is a potluck today at work and tonight WW begins and I start my journey...again. Hopefully this time I am wise enough to have it stick!

We did say 'Hi Jen' but you didn't hear us, we were back just far enough that it was difficult to catch your attention and I didn't want to start yelling like a crazy person! :rotfl:You were busy talking with the boys and then I waved again when you were on the boat. We did the I Spy a character too trying to guess which character would be in what country. We hadn't been on IASW since the changed out the holiday overlay. I like it a lot and I think they did a good job of incorporating the characters without overdoing it.

Thanks for the plateau link! I think I am already on one even though it is early! Ugh! I may need to ignore the scale and go more by how my clothes fit...we'll see!

I am doing the Momenteum Plan - trying to fill up on filling foods rather than empty foods. It does help and I don't really get hungry - it's more mental!

I did watch BL...wow - amazing how much they can loose in that short time. And run a marathon! Bob and I were trying to see their marathon finish times and they really weren't bad for not training for very long. I need to step up my exercising and do something every day. I did buy Jillians 30 Day Shred but I haven't opened it yet. Next week after Denver!

You look great so eating healthy is all that you need really, you'll lose any extra with all of your running! My problem spots are my bottom and legs...always have been and always will be! Looking at the BL before and after pics - did you see their legs...wow there is hope but it will take me a lot of work and a lot longer to even come close. But there is hope!

Have a great day!

Swam fifteen laps with my dear sister. Every third lap we would run, it's great resistance! The last two laps we took turns leaching onto each other and having them run with the added weight. It was a lot of fun and we couldn't stop laughing :lmao:

That does sound like fun! Might as well make exercising fun any chance you get! :goodvibes I am not so much laughing when I run. ;)

Nothing like beginning your new healthy lifestyle today! :thumbsup2
Good luck with WW. Second day for me. Yesterday food journaling was, dare I saw, kind of fun. And today, not so much. I just don't want some things I eat to have to count. Funny that way. ;) Also, my body is really starting to crave sugar. I think I must have had many reserves from my DL trip to last me through yesterday. I feel like I *need* some sugar to get my energy up right now. Instead, I've had a couple sugar free sweets, but it's not the same. Hopefully after day three this will get easier.

And don't forget...drink your water!

Keep checking in and YOU CAN DO THIS!!!:cheer2:

Sorry I was so absorbed. DH decided to sit that one out, so I was trying to keep the kids together with me.

Yeah! :cheer2:
Sounds like fun! You're doing so well with your exercising! :woohoo:

I'm trying to get up my energy to do a hill run tonight. Right now I'm so tired (must have sugar!). I'm going to pick up Max from school and then we'll see if I can't squeeze some running time in tonight. Today at the store, the check out guy laughed and said, "you look exhausted." I wanted to say, "that was rude," but instead answered, "glad I'm hiding it well."

Oh, and, we're still missing some folk.
Where are you ladies??
:rolleyes1
Is it just too boring on the WISH boards? Don't you know we're having a party over here? A sugar free, multi-grain, exercise nazi, veggie party...but a party nonetheless. party:

And no tomatoes, please. :duck:

Hi! Just got back from my 3 mile run! It did feel good although I chose to go up a street that was up hill...I hate hills but then it makes up for being able to run down, down, down!

I will be in Denver tomorrow night and I am taking Friday off. I'll work from there Monday and part of Tuesday and then fly back to CA. I plan to run twice while I'm there so I'll let you all know how the altitude effects me.

I hope everyone has a great rest of your week and a fun weekend!

Talk to you all later!

Good morning! Stopping by to say :cool1:! I weighed this morning because I won't be able to tomorrow and I lost 2.5 lbs! I was really not expecting it even though I have been keeping within my points every day on WW and have not had to use my activity points, not once. Now for my trip to Denver this weekend. I will be happy to maintain and not gain...I seriously doubt I'll lose but will be very happy if I don't gain!

I'll check in on Monday with you all.

Have a great weigh in tomorrow and a great weekend!

Thats wonderful! 2.5 lbs is great :cool1: Have a great weekend as well!

Have a great time in Denver Vicki & congrats on the 2.5lbs!!!! :thumbsup2

I weighed in this morning, since I started the soda reduction & water consumption last Thursday...... I'm down 2 lbs & that's with no change in diet or adding exercise in (ok, I did boogie with the girls the other day for 30 mins...but that was it).

I went on the webMD & checked that out as well.....I need to drop about 800 calories & add a bit of exercise to start losing about 2 lbs a week.....we'll see. I'm going to start being a bit more careful in my food choices & I really have to work on eating breakfast....that will be a huge obstacle for me.

Hope everyone has a great weekend & continued success!!!!!! :woohoo:

I'm SO glad to hear the good news. YOU DESERVE IT!! And a huge congratulations to you for sticking with the program even when you didn't get immediate results. You are a tough cookie and you WILL get results!!

Have you picked out that first 1/2 marathon for yourself yet??

Have a great time in Denver. Do they have a fitness room where you're staying? I usually just try to do some type of cardio while I'm on business trips. And maybe you could play around with the weights to start with the core strength training. :thumbsup2

CONGRATULATIONS!! See, even small changes can make a BIG difference.

BTW, Have you looked into quitting smoking?? I think for the sake of yourself and your kids, that has GOT to be a TOP priority for you.

Here's a link with some resources by state that I found.

IT IS THAT IMPORTANT!!!

Good luck! And congrats on all the positive lifestyle changes you are making in your life.

SARAH: How did weight watchers go last night? Are you having fun tracking today? I'm on day three and am still sugar free! I'm hoping that it gets easier tomorrow. Three days is the ticket for change, right?

I did my hill run last night. Am scheduled for a 2 hour run this weekend. Ugh. Ugh. Ugh.

STILL waiting for others to check in...

WW was fine. I think one of my coworkers normally goes to that meeting though she wasn't there last night. There were 5 new people including me so it made the "getting started" session after the meeting a lot more comfortable. The number on the scale was a bit higher than I had hoped, but right about where I thought it would be. I am having fun tracking on line and checking out the different features...that chicken quesadilla recipe looks yummy! I have had 3 bottles of water so far and I am not feeling too hungry yet. I know day 2 is usually the most difficult so am a bit nervous. My mom is watching the kids tomorrow and I am going to see if she will watch them a bit longer so I can go to the gym.

Good luck and I know you will do fine! Did you hear rumors of a sugar tax?

Let me know if you find any good recipes that have that little diamond on it -- meaning it's one of those simply filling recipes.

I'm gonna say that day 2 is harder than day 1. Day 3 is easier than day 2, but still I want sugar. I've been trying to trick myself with sugar free, which is sweet, but doesn't have sugar!

Hi everyone! I was at DL all day with another diva and others and had a great time. Yesterday I did 50-60 min on the elliptical, today I walked 10,000 steps. I know that because of a pedometer I used but I don't know how that translates to miles - anyone know?

I'm sooo tired. In the park where we ate only had three choices and they were all deep fried! :scared1: I haven't eaten anything that way for months. So I had the fish and then subbed out apple slices for fries at least. But I am nervous about how this is going to affect my body. Think I'll go have a big glass of water now.

BTW, even though the phone message says you have to eat your food at the picnic benches before you get into the park, the people with us had one of those small soft lunchbox-sized coolers over their shoulder with food inside. DL let them bring it in.

Just wanted to report in that I have made it almost a whole day without sugar and with only good carbs. I did have a sugar free pudding after dinner, but I made it without any skinny cows or any other treats. Longest I've gone without sugar in at least a year. Let's see how this goes... Sugar is my drug of choice.

Also did my weights, but I was really weak. There must have been some styrofoam pellots at Disneyland that sucked all of my energy out of me (listened to Bolt on way down and back, if you're wondering what the reference is...). My foot is feeling better and hopefully I can run tomorrow. Didn't do anything to it, per se. It just swelled up and got sore from all that Disneyland walking.

Many of our ladies have disappeared (as well as a banner)..?

Jen, I missed what the issue is with your foot (sorry, I'm exhausted so I may have missed it). Yes, DL can do that to you... BTW, I removed my banner but I have lost the 20 still and am continuing to lose. I just got a little tired of waving it, that's all.

I wish I had been here today to cheer you on with the battle against sugar. :cheer2: Remember -- protein when you're feeling weak in the fight against sugar. Vicki is right, you are in such good shape that if all you do is cut out your sugar, you're going to be losing quickly.

Good sweet things for you: your favorite fruits, yams, dried fruit in moderation.

Good morning! Stopping by to say :cool1:! I weighed this morning because I won't be able to tomorrow and I lost 2.5 lbs!

Have a great weigh in tomorrow and a great weekend!

Awesome!!

Have a great time in Denver Vicki & congrats on the 2.5lbs!!!! :thumbsup2

I weighed in this morning, since I started the soda reduction & water consumption last Thursday...... I'm down 2 lbs & that's with no change in diet or adding exercise :

Yup, I knew it! :cool2: You couldn't help but lose by cutting out what, three sugar sodas a day? Good for you!!!:yay:
Everyone else - keep up the good work!

It's a "sin tax"...like on cigarettes and liquer. I'm ready day 2....BRING IT!

Sarah-

Hi Ladies!

So I made it three days in a row without sugar! :cheer2:
I'm hoping today will be easier as my body adjusts to sugar free living (though I do intend to reintroduce small bits back into my life eventually)

The results?
Well I got on the scale bright and early this morning and weighed 138.5 - which is down 4 lbs. from last Friday before DL trip. A couple of those pounds were probably due to "that time of the month." But still, I'm down and I'll take it.

I've also decided to measure my waistline, as that is what I'm really trying to get smaller with this no sugar plan. I'm at 35 inches right now, which is considered unhealthy, putting women at risk for all sorts of nasty ailments. If I just get it down an inch, I"ll be in the higher end of the ok range. But ideally, I'd like to get it even smaller, so I can wear pants that aren't so big just so they fit my stomach.

Trick will be to stick with weight watchers, as in the past I've started slacking after a week or two. I'm sure you ladies will help me keep to it and change my eating habits for the better. I would say I'm eating at least as much, if not more, than I was before. Just none of the sugars or empty carbs. :thumbsup2

DONNA: So fun that you spent the day at Disneyland! As for fried foods...it happens. I must say I DO love those corn dogs, which is about the only friend food I really like (save for french fries once in awhile). Hope that your digestive system handled it OK.

As for my foot, there is nothing that happened. It was just the walking at Disneyland that really irritated it. Now that I'm home, it's ok. And funny that my run didn't bother it. Running and walking seem to use different muscles or muscles in a different way.

And thanks for the reminder on the yam. I did buy sweet potatoes (having a Dan Quayle moment here...) but never remember to cook it and then by the time I want something sweet I don't want to wait an hour for the darned thing to be ready. I started cooking it now, so it will be ready by lunch time.

CRISTABEL: Inquiring minds want to know...did you exercise yesterday? :confused3

SARAH: Good luck with Day 2! :cheer2::cheer2:
I am SURE you will do fine.

VICKI: Hope Denver is going well!

OTHERS: Well, I guess I will stop bothering you since I can only take being ignored so long. We're here when you want to come back. Hope you are doing well. :wizard::wizard::wizard:

QUOTE OF THE DAY
If we did all the things that we are capable of doing, we would literally astound ourselves.

I am grumpy today...probably just from the huge change to my habits. I am used to stuffing my face with anything and everything, now my hands and mouth feel like they need to be busy...gum is helping, now I just need to start crocheting again and I will have the problem licked....ok, bad choice of words.

It's Day 2. You have the right to feel grumpy.

Anything special you can plan for yourself non food related? Shopping, a pedicure...some special treat? A walk in the fresh air?

So far Day 4 is alot easier for me. It's 2pm and I haven't had any sugar free puddings or coffee drinks or anything. Just an orange for sweetness. And I don't even feel like throttling anyone. Granted it's 3pm that it usually hits me, but so far so good.

I have a 2 hour run tomorrow and feel a little shaky about it. Signed up for the June 7th 1/2 marathon at the lake today. It looks frightening. Didn't look frightening until I actually pressed submit and then it got real. :scared1: These little tortures I put myself through for motivation.

OK, I actually am having a productive day at work, despite my inability to focus on anything for more than 5 minutes. Back to powerpoint slides...

Thanks, my dh is trying to find a sitter so we can go to the gym together tonight. The child care at the gym is great but won't take kids under a year old and my daughter is not quite 11 months old....soon, though. Hopefully by the time she turns a year old I will be ready to embark on a full work out routine and not just walking on the treadmill. My husband is a weight lifter and I know he would like to "train" me on weights.

And to top everything off, they brought in cake and ice cream to work today. I put some gum in my mouth before entering that room to join in the celebration to make sure I wouldn't grab for anything...it worked. Even with the guys encouraging me to "have some cake". I am pretty proud of that...now to determine what I want for dinner...our cupboards are pretty bare so I don't know what I can throw together. Hmmm.
