Disneyland Divas working out, getting healthy, and looking fine in '09!!

Hey ladies!!

I'm here. I weighed in this morning, but I didn't have time to post before we had to leave for the day to do some things. Sadly, I am up exactly one pound, from 215.2 to 215.2. Sigh. Oh well. Keep on keeping on is all I can do!

Tracey, way to go on the 5 lbs!!!!!!!!!!!! That's awesome!!!!!

Wendy, hang in there. It's only half a pound. You can lose that and then some for next week.

Jen, good job on maintaining. Better then gaining! LOL And have fun in SF! Sounds nice. And I hope things continue to go smoothly for you at work.

Have a great weekend everyone! I'm pooped and going to chill out for awhile. Night!

Did my run this morning. Ugh. Was like moving through molasses. My body just didn't want to move. Run was only 60 minutes this Saturday, fortunately. I'm sticking with the program and hoping next week feels better.

Now need to get ready for SF trip. I'm feeling sluggish, like I'd rather watch tv than get everyone ready to go. I need a kick in the you know what!

Hope you all have a great weekend. :goodvibes

Well I hurt my back-shoot. I have a lot of apples and oranges I need to use up--so maybe I'll just exist on these the next few days...I really need to heal, I'm not doing the work comp thing because while it is sort of work related-bending into the meat case constantly, it is because of an injury I had over 15 years ago and when you mess with work comp-it had better be because it is the only thing you can do because it is a real pain in the rear and I can't afford to be out for too long. I went to urgent care from work because it was hurting so bad and will see my reg doc monday, I have a lot of vacation I can take and never use so I'll use some of that, and I have great bosses :) You would think from these boards so far, I'm a big whiner and pessimist, but I'm really not--I see the doctor generally once a year for the usual pap and have to be dying to see him otherwise. I have great insurance too. I so tend to depression but am a big fan of Dr. Wayne Dyer(motivational speaker), and I think he has helped me a lot, the weight thing has always been such an issue for me I guess. Oh well, guess I'll go catch up the food diary...Sue

Happy Monday!

So I was going to go running today, but it was cold and windy and starting to sprinkle and I just wimped out, turned around and came back to my cozy home.

I'll have to get my run in tomorrow, when hopefully the weather will cooperate more (or I have the motivation to get myself to the treadmill at the gym).

Hi all~

Jen, it snowed here today!! Not that I was planning a run anyway, but if I was I would have had a great reason not to. LOL

Sue, I'm sorry about your back. I hope it heals quickly. :wizard:

I am struggling so much right now. I'm not giving up, far from it, but it's hard. All I want to do is eat things that are not good for me. Not just junk but everything. Tonight we had Chinese food, one of my faves, and I totally overate. For the first time, I'm scared to step on the scale!!! :scared1:

Beth, I am sure that one slip up is not going to ruin your hard work or stop you in your tracks. You have come so far! You will get to your goal!:cheer2:

When it comes to losing weight, winter is by far the hardest time to do it. At least for me it is. I have been doing okay but it seems like once I get home, I slip up. I have so many goodies all over the place around here: popcorn peppermint bark, cookies, brownies, fudge and some peppermint ice cream...that I just love!

I am not sure why I goof once I get home. I work in a school and there is an abundance of treats in the faculty room. Today the social committee ordered in Olive Garden fettucine alfredo, breadsticks and salad as a Christmas gift to the staff..not to mention having toffee peanuts, chocolate cupcakes, and chocolate covered oreos. I surprised myself and did not touch a single piece. I ate my Lean Cuisine and apple. But once I got home it was a free for all. I think I have a problem...not sure what it is. :confused3

How do you all control the night munchies?

January, I do the same thing. And I'm home all day!!! :confused3 But I can do well all day, even being home, and then for some reason totally blow it at night. :sad2: I don't get it either. It's like somewhere along the day, my willpower just disappears. So I wish I had some advice for you, but I can't even seem to figure it out for myself.

Beth--cool about the snow!

My advice for the nights: get the bad stuff out of the house! If you need to have treats for kids or others, get stuff for them that doesn't tempt you. And fill yourself up with good stuff before the munchies kick in. Have healthy treats available and planned, so you don't feel deprived.

I made some gingerbread cookies yesterday and they are in the house and I can't help but eat them. I'm going to give them all away tomorrow! Otherwise, they beckon' me all day. :sad2:

Come January 1, everyone will be working their diet hard. Just think of all you do from now until Dec 31 as getting a head start on that new year's resolution!

Oh and one other thing that REALLY does help....exercise, exercise, exercise!

I'm beginning to get nervous about that 1/2 marathon on Feb 1. Oh my, it's hard to stay training now...with the holidays and weather.

You can do it Jen!! I'm so in awe of you and all you do. Even though I don't exercise much, you still inspire me. The few times I have got up off my butt it's been because of you! I wish you lived closer. I have so many trails around my house. We could get out there together.

I put on some warm clothes, some tunes and hit the road for my run today. First 5 minutes were awful, but next 40 minutes went great!

That is exactly why I LOVE having a gym membership. If it were up to me to go out and exercise...well it would never get done because cold weather + exercise = asthma acting up!

Wow, a busy few days. Staying focused and keeping all those goodies out of my house and my life. Let my little one pick out a bag of xmas cookies at Walmart that don't tempt me at all. I am continuing to go down, and trying to visualize, but gosh, it seems like at least 20 pounds before the vision will change. But the workouts feel good. My energy level is up, my tiredness is down. Woo Hoo!

Beth, you hang in there. It is difficult to always be the one in the family making the right choices. My hubby even needs to loose a few pounds, but even when he commits to the plan, he strays from it frequently, which makes me want to also. But, I have set my mind that it is his decision for himself and I have to make my own commitment, for me. So take a breather, be forgiving of yourself, and then make different choices next time. If you make good choices most of the time, then those other times won' t matter anyhow. I know that you can do it!

Sue, Sorry to hear about your back. There is not much worse than that. Hope you get to feeling better soon.

Jen, You are just so darn inspiring. I love that. I never thought of starting out with just running for a minute or two and then walking. I flipped my treadmill to run (jog, really) for a couple of minutes last time, and I survived it. I actually feel like some day I could be one of those people that can run on the darn thing! I don't know about outside though. I hate being cold. I even work out in a sweatshirt, and seldom get too hot.

January, Wow, you ate lean cuisine when Olive Garden was provided? I am impressed. That is good will power. I went to Olive Garden with my sister and Mom. Tried to eat well. The server let me order the chicken breast and broccoli for my lunch and I had a tiny bit of salad (that dressing is not diet!) and one bite of breadstick. But I don't think I could have forgone everything for a lean cuisine.

Cristabel, I know how that Asthma works, as my 12 year old has that. But at least you can work out at the gym. That is all that matters, is some form of excercise. It really makes the difference!

Oh, and Wendy, You can do this! By the way, for my popcorn fix, I have been buying Orville's light popcorn from Costco. It is 15 calories per cup, so I figure that I can eat the whole bag for about 100 calories. It is well worth it as it takes me about an hour to eat and gives me a ton of satisfaction during those evening hours when I get munchy.

Wew, sorry if I mispelled or anything. It is hard to keep everyone straight, but I surely do appreciate getting to check in with you all and the common goal, struggles and encouragement. Hope you all have a wonderful day. Tracey

Hi Ladies!

I did my weights today. Was completely unmotivated, but got myself to the gym. Didn't do my sprints. Will have to fit them in tomorrow.

Eating...hmmm...pizza for dinner and some hersey's kisses for dessert. Well at least I did my weights ;)

For the QUOTE OF THE DAY:
You are the person who has to decide. Whether you'll do it or toss it aside; you are the person who makes up your mind. Whether you'll lead or will linger behind. Whether you'll try for the goal that's afar. Or just be contented to stay where you are.

Hi all!

I watched the Biggest Loser finale (dvr) and I must say that those were some pretty incredible transformations. I love that show!:goodvibes

This may sound catty (and it really isn't, because the women -and men- all look FANTASTIC) ...but, what is up with all the saggy arm skin? Just curious.
The first time I did WW after DD was born, I lost almost 60 pounds and did not have the saggy skin. I am scared this time around I will have the flappy arms because I have quite a bit more to lose (75 lbs).

What do you all think? Are there exercises out there to prevent this from happening?

IF there are, I will need them!! I'm already getting the saggy underarms. :sad2: And I'm sure I'll get saggy in other areas too before this is all said and done. I may not look very good, but hopefully I'll be much healthier and that's my ultimate goal.

Good Morning. I hear ya on the saggy spots. Dang pregnancies and aging etc. But I can absolutely feel the benefits and one of the biggest for me is being more fit for DL. I hate it when I run out of energy! We are having an entire week of ice and snow and it is killing me. I don't drive in this weather at all. Hubby did drive us all to the gym the other day and hopefully will do the same today, but they have snow closure hours too.

Have a wonderful day everyone.

This snowy, cold weather is making me want to stay in bed all day long. Add to that all the Christmas treats, and the plans we have coming up, and I am not doing very good. My willpower is too lacking.
I think I'm going to just have to do the best I can and hope not to gain too much. Doubt I'll be doing any losing though. :sad2: My goal is to just stay in the 2-teens and not go back any higher then that.

I really hope everyone else is having a better go of it then I am.

I did my sprints today. Hate them. Have to run as fast as I can for three minutes. Then two minute rest. Then do it all again 3 more times. It's so hard for me. I'm running as fast as I can and it is still SO slow. Somehow this is supposed to help my endurance. I much prefer a slow long run to these fast short runs. But I did it.

Eating...well I'm having a hard time staying away from the treats.

My little DS5 was sick with an ear ache today and we had to miss his winter concert where he was to dress as an angel with all the other kindergarteners and sing "this little light of mine." Too sweet. I did sneak down to the school just to see the kids dressed up and to give the teachers their presents. I definitely was sadder than Max at missing the event. But at least I got a visit.

And for our QUOTE OF THE DAY:
Somehow, not only for Christmas
But all the long year through,
The joy that you give to others
Is the joy that comes back to you.
And the more you spend in blessing
The poor and lonely and sad,
The more of your heart's possessing
Returns to you glad.

Hi all,

First of all I have to say how impressed that you all can get out and exercise. I've had a couple of REALLY stressfull weeks at work when I'm leaving I can't even contimplate heading to the gym. I haven't been for so long I'm not sure I remember my member code. Well I do, but I honestly can't remember the last time I went. Luckily when I get to a certain level of stress I go from "have to eat EVERYTHING" to only remembering to eat meals. With all the end of year stuff going on and preparing for the holidays. I've just managing meals and not a lot of snacking. I wish that I could say that it has helped me on the scale. Not a lot. I went down .2lbs. I'm at exactly 200. I'm hoping that I can make it through the next weekend without gaining anything. crossing my fingers.

I watched TBL last night (DVR) and I was SO glad that Michelle won! I've always wondered how they got so buffed and tight (especially some of the older players) I know that when I lose weight some of the skin tightens, but alot of it is just hanging a little lower. Maybe it's because I haven't done enough weights.

I really wish that I could get online as much as I used to. Hopefully when the holidays are over I'll have more down time. With the way the budget has been lately, our family has been making a lot of presents so we've been busy in the evenings. I just spent the last 5 hours helping my son (18) make a stuffed snake for his girlfriend (using scraps of fabric). I've been the technical advisor, but he's done all the pinning and sewing. We finally threw in the towel for the evening. Still need to make some dinner, but nothing that we have available is appealing. Maybe I'll just do some cereal and catch up on the rest of the boards.
