Disneyland Divas working out, getting healthy, and looking fine in '09!!

I think we should all agree "diet" is a bad word when we are in Disney. :thumbsup2

I didn't walk today. My inlaws who are still in town visiting came over this morning and ended up driving the twins to school. It's probably just as well.
For some reason I feel weak. :confused3
Just walking up the stairs in my house which I do ALL THE TIME, is now causing me to be gasping for breath. I don't understand why. Maybe lack of food and water? Or laying in bed for three days? :confused3

I don't like it though. It bugs me. I hope once I can start eating normally, I'll get some strength back.

The good news is I haven't had Diet Pepsi since Friday, so maybe this will help curb some of my cravings for it.

Hey there Beth...I have to tell you...I thought I would NEVER be able to go without Diet Pepsi. I was SERIOUSLY addicted to the stuff. I would grab a can to take in the car with me to drink while I drove the kids to daycare in the am (even if it was 6am), drink it all day at work (usually at least 60 ounces during the day and with meals), continue after work, and fall asleep with one on my nightstand. I know...it's horrible..but that is how I lived for many many years.

I stopped a little over two weeks ago, tried to cut back to one per day, but kept getting headaches so just finally decided to stop. I haven't had any for 2 weeks, feel great, and honestly don't really miss it! I tried a few days of flavored sparkling water to try to transition off soda, and that actually helped. It was like drinking "squirt" soda. Then I switched to plan water which was easy because I was over the daily caffeine need. Now I drink water all day, sometimes adding some crystal light for flavor, and once in a while adding the crystal light that has caffeine in it for a little pick me up. One of the ER docs I work with specializes in weight loss and has a bariatric clinic here in Vegas and she's been helping me make some changes. One of the things she told me was to stop soda if at all possible...no nutritional value and the carbonation interferes with your ability to clear out fluids, makes kidneys work harder etc.

The other things she said that I've been trying is basically healthy eating, whole grains to replace whites, lots of lean protein (she actually wanted me to get 90 gms of protein a day which I am finding very difficult), less than 200 gm carbs each day, eat a big breakfast, eat every 2-3 hours (protein snacks in between meals, or if you must have something with carbs, make sure you have a protein with it. Mixed foods that have proteins and carbs should have at least half as many proteins as carbs).

Oh and that darn exercise. Starting with 3 times a week and working up to some form of exercise daily even if its only 15 minutes of cardio on some days. I haven't been doing the daily walk plan exactly, but have been getting something in every day. I have a bunch of Leslie Sansone DVDs that I had NEVER used and now I LOVE them. A good workout but doable, and I can do this at any hour in my living room which works for me because actually walking outside would be difficult during the week with my long days, kids, etc.

So this is what I've been doing. It's working and I actually feel really good. Lots of energy and sleeping well at night which I never used to do.

We'll see how it goes. I was really looking for a lifestyle change instead of a "diet" since I have lost and gained over the years by "dieting".

Sorry for the rant, but I wanted to share.

Amy

Hi guys. I didn't forget about you but with everything going on I haven't really been thinking about my weight loss but ironically I haven't been eating anything so I have lost none the less. I am currently at 153 just from plain not eating anything which I KNOW is not healthy but with what has been going on I haven't felt like eating much. Don't worry I HAVE been eating SOME just not a lot.

I am hoping that next week when things get more settled I can actually get back into a routine cuz I still want to exercise but I don't know how long it is going to take for me to feel normal again. Esp now that Shane is working nights. It is hard for me to workout with him "hanging around". So I don't know if I will be able to do that for now or not. I have a lot going on in the next few weeks too. Next week is nothing but the 1st week of feb I have to go to my surgery class and then I have to go meet my psychiatrist and then on the 5th I have my surgery. So a LOT going on. I may just have to wait till that is over before I start back in because I hate to START working out and then have to skip a week. We shall see.

I REALLY want this though and I am going to make sure that whatever meds they put me on don't encourage weight gain cuz I worked too hard to get the weight off that I already lost and I STILL want to lose at LEAST 10 more and possibly 20. So we shall see.

I have been reading yall's threads I just haven't contributed cuz I haven't been doing much lately.

I DO want this really bad though so once I get back on the horse I DO plan on doing this. Good luck to everyone who is still hanging in!! You guys are doing awesome!!

Hang in there Kelly! :grouphug:

Morning ladies. Isn't today weigh in? Where's Beth to report in? I guess she must still be enjoying her mini vacation with DH. :rotfl:

So, I'm down a pound this week -- from my plateau weight. Just an odd fluctuation I'm sure. And exercise went well. I did my weekend long run and my leg and foot have been feeling better.

The only thing that's getting to me now is my nerves. Yes, with the race only one week away, I'm beginning to get nervous. What if I get sick and can't go? What if I have to go the bathroom during the run? What if an injury acts up during the race? What if I hate the crowds? What if? What if? What if...?:faint:

Then we have a family DCL cruise Feb 10 and I haven't even started getting ready for that. I need to start thinking about packing. DS5 has strep going around his class, so I'm getting worried that he'll catch it just before we're supposed to leave.

Let's just I'm getting the last minute jitters. I think I need some meditation, yoga classes and oh, a deep tissue massage would be nice. Hmmm.... Now how do I get that?

So for the QUOTE OF THE DAY
Don't waste life in doubts and fears; spend yourself on the work before you, well assured that the right performance of this hour's duties will be the best preparation for the hours and ages that will follow it.
-Ralph Waldo Emerson

Great job on your loss Jen! And don't worry about the run...the awesome thing is you are doing it!!

HI Jen,
Well, you clearly need to read some of your own inspirational quotes! Then maybe you won't worry about the race. Just remember, you are ready and you will do awesome!

We are going on vacation Feb. 14 and I am having some of the anxiety. I need to spend some time making a list and then crossing stuff off it, so I feel in control!

My weigh in went well. I am down the usual one or two pounds. Gosh that seems incredibly slow, but I do know that is how it went on too. I just want to be 30 pounds lighter right now, not in 15 to 20 weeks! But, my pants are falling off of me, so that is good and I need to dig out my next smaller size. I have tons of clothes at all my sizes so won't need to shop, but I am going to get rid of my biggy clothes as I shrink out of them, because I swear I am not going back up again. I just realized that I have reached my first goal for sure, which was to be under 200 by my family trip. I am at about 198 on the real scale (190 on my scale). Woo Hoo. My next goal is to be in the 180's by the ladies trip which may be hard since it is right after 9 days at DL with the family. Hopefully all the running around will even out all the good stuff I am going to eat on my trip.

I hope Beth had a wonderful date night and either had really great s*x, or got a lot of extra sleep, depending on what she needed the most. Kelly, hope you feel up to exercising soon. Cristabel, good job getting back at it, and hang in there.

Have a good day all.
Tracey

TRACEY!! How awesome!!!! Congrats on leaving the 2's forever! I would be shouting it from the rooftops if it were me. I am really hoping I get to celebrate that this year. I have lost 40 lbs twice and both times ended up so close to 199 I could smell it and then promptly fell off the wagon. I haven't been in the 190's for almost 12 years, and I want nothing more to be there again. It's like its more important than my goal weight..isn't that silly? For some reason I think if I can get there, the rest will come.

And 1-2 lbs a week is wonderful! Healthy amount to lose. It will add up. Great job!

HI!!!

Just checking in real quick! Congrats to those who've lost or maintained and who are keeping up with their exercise!! :cheer2:

I'm down this week from 221.4 to 215.2 for a loss of 6.2 pounds. Guess all that jello and yogurt helped, lol. Although now that I can start eating more normally I'll probably gain!!!

Jen, don't worry, you can do this! And I'll be thinking good thoughts you all stay well for the cruise!

Tracey, you post cracked me up! lol

TGIF ladies!

WOW Beth..that is awesome! I never have losses like that. Of course, I know you earned it this week with your visit to the dentist and all. Congrats!

Sorry I didn't post yesterday. Things have been crazy this week.

Congrats to everyone on their awesome week!! We're going to have to take a group pic at the disney trip to track how great we look!!

Slow and steady seems to be my pattern, but I weighed in at 232.5 so 3 lbs down from last week and 11 lbs total since I started and past the halfway mark to my 20 lb goal before our trip!!

I'll take it! Hope everyone has a great Saturday. My plans are to catch up with homework, be lazy with the kids, and exercise for at least 30-45 minutes.

Amy, congrats on your loss!!! And just as important on all the healthy changes you've been able to implement into your routine. I'm so happy for you!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Congrats everyone!! Beth I knew you would lose being on your liquid or soft foods diet. That is great!! I actually was back up a bit today but that is how it goes. I am not stressing though cuz I am not really trying right now.

Then today we REALLY blew it. We had to go do some errands and we got KFC. Def NOT on the diet!! So I am sure I will probably be up EVEN MORE tomorrow. But as I said probably after the next few weeks when things calm down a bit and after my surgery I hope to be raring to go. As long as things go well with that that is! I REALLY want this and I hope that I start feeling up to exercising soon cuz I want to get this weight off and have it STICK!!

Good luck and congrats to all who have been getting the pounds off!

Hey don't give up. At least Kentucky fried has gone to trans fat free oil....

That is great to hear Amy. The above is pretty much my whole plan. It is working so fare. Thanks for the congrats on leaving the 2's. I am really thrilled and hope that I will be celebrating with you too, when you reach that goal. It sounds like you have a great plan to get there!

Oh my gosh, I think Capri sent her sick germs to me. Fighting a sore throat. Really didn't want to exercise today, but pushed through it. Yesterday I hit the baseball field with my 12 year old and pitched to him for batting practice, and then because I actually managed to get some of the balls over the plate and he hit them, I got to run around the field and shag balls too. That was all the exercise I could do yesterday, other than housework.

Overall , a nice, but busy weekend is drawing to an end. I will have a hectic week because my director is out of town so I am doing both our jobs. Hope you all have a great week.
Tracey

Morning all. Congrats to all that have lost. Well I am right back to where I started. I should have known that once I actually started to eat anything the weight would come right back. But that is what happens when you eat and don't exercise I guess. I am back to 155 even so I am not surprised.

I have to make a concentrated effort from now on to at least EAT better if nothing else although I don't know if just doing that will help. The ONLY reason I dropped any weight last week was because I was just plain NOT eating and I know that is not healthy either. So like I said I need to get through the next two weeks and then hopefully as long as my surgery doesn't bother me too much and I feel up to it I hope to start working out by the 9th of February. My surgery is on the 5th so we shall see.

I am proud of all of you guys. You are doing great. I just have some CRAZY two weeks with lots of apts so I know I won't be able to workout and I don't see the point with my surgery coming up but ONCE that is over as I said as long as I feel up to it, it is ON! :)

Tracey--As if it wasn't hard enough keeping track of screen names, you go and change yours! Welcome QueenDoOver! I just wanted to say GREAT JOB on all the exercise you're doing. You're doing awesome! :thumbsup2

Thanks Jen. I know! I reintroduced myself on the ladies trip thread, but figured most of you were over there too. I just felt the need to have a "real" dis identity, KWIM!

The excercise for me is critical, and it really does make me feel better, but it is hard to commit the time sometimes. But I am feeling better about myself, and as I told Beth, or maybe everone???, feeling better about myself means a better s*x life with my hubby and more patience with my kids, and better job performance. In general, just a better quality of life. So, I am sticking to it no matter what. I think I will really reap the benefits in 19 days when we hit DLR for our 9 day family trip. I am hoping to have a lot more stamina!

Anyhow, I do find all you ladies to be so supportive and that really helps me. I hope that those that are struggling will find their way because I know it will make their lives better.

Not long before your race! Are you in the zone? Ready to go??

Okay, smilies from Nathan: pixiedust: party: :rainbow: :jumping1: :welcome: :yoda: :darth:

Tracey, I hope you feel better.

Kelly, sorry you gained some but you can do it!!

So, I think I'm going to show a gain this Friday. I'm eating normally again so that right there will show up, and Aunt Flo in in town. I can feel how bloated I am. Ick! :sad2:

Hi, all!

I never posted my WI on Sat. I lost .4 pounds. Not much, but that allowed me to hit my first 5 pounds lost since I started a three weeks ago.:thumbsup2

Beth, drink some water. It may help that bloated feeling.

Yeah, I've got to get back to drinking more water. I've gotten bad about that again. Congrats on your loss so far!!! That's great.

I am so sick of being in the teens. I've been there for 3 months now!! I'll go down to like 214, then up to 219, then down to 215, then up to 217, and so on and so on. I've hit every number in the teens at least once.

I was 215 on Friday, now I'm back to 217. (I cheated and weighed in this morning.) I know it's probably from AF and eating more normally again, but still.

I want to see 209!!! Into some singles, not 215 or even 210!!!

:cool1: Congratulations, January!!!!!

Thanks! :goodvibes

Water really helps. Although, I should practice what I preach. I drink maybe 4-6 actually glasses of water a day and about 3 cans of diet coke.:sad2: I need to drink more water.

About 4 years ago when I lost a lot of weight, I hit a plateau. I would just bounce around the same 5 pounds. My WW leader recommended bumping up the exercise. :crazy2:
