Disneyland Divas working out, getting healthy, and looking fine in '09!!

Hi everyone!

I've missed everyone this last week. Got back from DL on Sunday (Grizbuzz - sorry your trip was intrupted by the bug - it's happened to us before and it definately puts a gloom on the vacation). Luckily, we had a fantastic time and I didn't do too bad on the food plan. We did end up splitting some items (one monte cristo sandwich for three of us). I had planned for the Mickey Premium bar and ice cream and did pretty well the rest of the time. Then on Tuesday while at a seminar I got that "I dont feel so well" feeling. By the time we were back on BART to come home I knew a cold/flu thing was going to hit. I've been down for the count for a couple of days and today is the first day that I feel about 95% well. Still coughing a bit, but I can breath and don't have a fever. I weighed in yesterday and am exactly the same as last week. I think all the fluids I was drinking helped a lot. Didn't lose, but then again didn't gain.

Planning on hitting the gym again tomorrow (as soon as I can walk without coughing).

Congrats to everyone that had a loss this week! My goal is to track my points for one solid week.

Maybe you need to do a little pampering, to make yourself feel better. Like perhaps some pretty toes would do the trick! princess:
That's a good idea. I feel fine today. I am really noticing how much not eating right (even if I'm within my calories, but it was on "junk food"), not drinking enough water, not getting enough sleep, and not doing some sort of exercise, can all add up to make you feel just crappy. LOL
For me it effects my overall mood, and makes me grouchy and just feel kind of blah. Can't be positive or confident when you feel blah. So I'm really making an effort to eat healthy foods, and get enough water and rest. :)

Good job on your run!! Honestly you just amaze me. :worship:

Jane, welcome back!! :yay: I'm glad to hear you had such a great time and did well on your food plans. Sorry you got sick though. I hate that. Congrats on staying the same. :thumbsup2

Good Morning Ladies... Bad eating weekend! Was fun tho... :rotfl: Just flying by to say hi tho... Will post more at lunch time...

HAPPY MONDAY LADIES!!

I wanted to take this opportunity to remind all of you that in less that month, we will have our Worldwide Festival of Races http://worldwidefestivalofraces.com/cgi-bin/home

This virtual race will take place on a local course of your choice, and people from all over the world will take to the road on Oct 11-12 (or nearby weekend if those dates just can't work).

The purpose of the race is to train and run with friends. If running does not appeal to you, then please just commit to some form of exercise that you will continue to train for in the next few weeks.

So please share with us what you will do this weekend or nearby weekend. It doesn't matter what the exact date of your event is, what the exercise is or where it is. What's matters is that you commit yourself to some exercise and that you provide yourself a manageable goal that you are working towards.

I have decided that I will run around Lake Chabot this weekend which is somewhere between 9 and 10 miles (with some hills). This is a stretch for me, but I will somehow do it, even if I have to walk it.
And I'm leaving you with an excerpt of study on the health benefits of running for a little inspiration.

Running Slows the Aging Clock, Stanford Researchers Find
Written by IV Post
Monday, 11 August 2008

Stanford, California - Regular running slows the effects of aging, according to a new study from the Stanford University School of Medicine that has tracked 500 older runners for more than 20 years. Elderly runners have fewer disabilities, a longer span of active life and are half as likely as aging nonrunners to die early deaths, the research found.

“The study has a very pro-exercise message,” said James Fries, MD, an emeritus professor of medicine at the medical school and the study’s senior author. “If you had to pick one thing to make people healthier as they age, it would be aerobic exercise.” The new findings appear in the Aug. 11 issue of the Archives of Internal Medicine.

Looks like no one liked my invitation to the festival of races :rotfl:

Made it to pilates today. Usually there are about 5 people in the class and there were over 20 today. It was like the first week of January kind of crowds. Weird.

Hope everyone had a great day!

Good morning all. I went out and bought a new pair of shoes last night. I will be working them in with exercise so they will be ready for our trip to DL! I do not remember the last time I got a new pair of running shoes! My old ones had to be thrown out!

Anyway, I have started off the day well with water, multivitamin and a granola bar.

I had a couple hard days there and they coincided with people starting to compliment me on my weight loss. I think that when I get those kind of compliments I get either scared and subconsiously want to put the weight back on to hide behind or I get an "ok, I have this problem licked" attitude and don't focus on what I am doing so I overeat and gain weight again! I think I am back on track now. I went to bed early last night so I could get a good night sleep and be on my "A" game today. Hopefully it worked! Well, I need to go get ready for the day! Hope everyone does great!

Drink that water!

Good Morning Ladies!
Yesterday was a kinda busy day at work and then I passed out when I got home... woke up, hung out with DH, had dinner and went back to sleep... lol... Forgot my bowl to make my eggs at work today so unfortunately I had to skip breakfast... Having a sugar free grapefruit juice and a sugar free cranberry juice... Hopefully the vitamin c will help as everyone in my office is getting sick... Tonight is a work out night so hopefully I'll be motivated enough to do it... LOL... Being motivated to do anything is so rough when you totally hate your job... It just sucks the life out of me... Honestly the only thing keeping me going right now is my trip to DL... Anyone have any ideas on how to motivate myself exercise wise?

Sarah

Do you like podcasts? Listen to a good podcast while exercising...like maybe the DIS Unplugged?? Do you have an iPod?

There are also some great fitness podcasts, like Fitness Rocks.

And I also like the Oprah soul series stuff :)

Often I don't start out motivated, but just get myself moving and then get inspired by listening to the podcasts once I'm out on my run. :thumbsup2

Jen - I didn't check in here last night so I missed the run info you posted. I'm going to look more into it in a sec.
We went to the movies yesterday and of course I had popcorn. Then we had Mexican last night, so I guess I was sort of avoiding this place. :rolleyes1
No worries, I'm back on track today.

Sarah - Good for you on the new running shoes! And for getting back on track. Best of luck today.

Sarah - Exercise is hard for me too. I dread doing it. This morning I DID NOT WANT to do my workout DVD. I almost skipped it. But after doing so poorly yesterday I figured I'd better. Once I got going, it felt good and I was happy I did it after it was over with. So maybe just force yourself to do it and the rush you get will keep you going. Good luck!

I will try that... I have a couple Disneyland Podcasts to catch up on...

Ya I just need to get my oomph....

Thanks Beth. Today I did really well with my eating, but am not on track with exercise yet. I am going to go pack my workout bag and plan on going to the gym after work and before picking up my children. Only 2 more full days before weigh in....yikes!:scared1:

Good luck all and drink that water!

Sarah

Perserverance! or Perservero. Isn't that the motto of the people in the disney movie "In Search of the Castaways"?

Good evening everyone,

I've kept to tracking so far this week (a real accomplishment for me) and have been drinking my water. I was suppose to weigh in today, but I got distracted and started eating my lunch at our WW at work meeting and there was NO WAY I was going to weigh in after eating lunch. I'll try and make a meeting later in the week. Hopefully it will be good news.

Sarah, I also HATE to workout, I wish I were one of those people that love to go to the gym. The only way that I've been able to keep motivated is to pack my gym bag and then drive directly there from work. If I had to come home to get changed I'd always find other things to do and then it would be too late. Some days it works some days not. I finally bought an iPod and have downloaded the old DIS podcasts. Its a great way to pass the time at the gym. Even if the information about park hours, etc might not be current, its a great way to pass the time. In fact I just spent the evening updating and downloading the podcasts from 2007 and 2008 (so far) so I have plenty of stuff to listen to.

Grizzbuzz - I'm going to plan a hike for the entire family. Hopefully I'll get buy in, but I'll let you know where I decide to go.

Hope everyone has a good night,

Ok today was really weird.

I went to business law, ditched math, went to eat at Chipotle (obviously not the healthiest choice to make) and got home around 4pm. I knocked out and slept from 4:20 to 6:50! It was SO weird. So needless to say, I did not work out today.

I'll be doing workout #2 tomorrow and #3 on Friday. I'll probably hit the gym on Thursday. It's been quite some time since I've been in that stinky place.:rotfl:

But I REALLY need to get it together because I need to fit into my XL Disney Store work shirt. They fit smaller than the regular tees at the Disney store so I need to lose some more belly, back and arm fat. I went into work today to fill out some paper work (availability, shirt size, name on name badge etc).
I'm supposed to have training early October. So that might be next week!

YEAH!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

I had to get up for a 5am meeting this morning I'm sleepy...

Here's the QUOTE OF THE DAY:
People often say that motivation doesn't last. Well, neither does bathing-that's why we recommend it daily.

Two more days until weigh in!!! Time to really kick it in gear and make it count. I want us all to see some nice numbers on the scales this week!!!

I am working on that... I was up this past weekend so it will more than likely be losing to what I'd previously been at... but no cheating this week!

I'm SO happy that you've got the job! Start to drink that water, and you can do it.

I've been tracking since Monday, drinking TONs of water, been to the gym two days in a row (BIG Accomplishment) and I'm really hoping to have a negative number this week.

I watched the last two weeks episodes of the Biggest Loser (really hard to eat junk food while that is on) and printed out the recipes from the website today. The food looked good last night and the recipes are only a couple of steps so hopefully I'll get inspired and try some new dishes. I get in a rut and only prepare the meals that I know fit in my points range, but then get really bored of eating the same stuff. I'm actually looking forward to fall and soup weather!

Today was workout 2 of week 2. I decided it's probably safer for me to run at the gym so I don't hurt my knees, cause they are already pretty bad. I tried it at an incline for a while and now I am totally feeling it. I'm SO sore:goodvibes

I drank all my water today!:woohoo:
I haven't reached that goal in quite some time.

Check out my WISH journal if you want, I updated my goals.

Cristabel is tired of being fat

Eating went alright today, I don't think I met my calorie count though because I'm hungry!

I worked out today!!! I am totally proud of myself!!! I actually did it! Put on the disneyland podcast and did my 30 minutes!!!

Yeah ladies!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:
Keep moving!!

I have done well with exercising so far this week. Did pilates Monday (stomach muscles still hurt!), running and weights Tuesday, short walk with dog yesterday and today I'm supposed to run and do weights. May end up doing weights tomorrow.

Eating, well, I'm hungry this week. :sad2: I haven't been journaling, but I've been trying to be good, but I'm not feeling to optimistic about weigh in.

So, for the QUOTE OF THE DAY:
It is not the great temptations that ruin us; it is the little ones.
