Disneyland Delays Theme Park, Resort Reopening

Based on DL's statement, it seems to be because CA isn't releasing park reopening guidelines in enough time for DL to get staffed.
California was releasing guidelines on July 4th....Do you honestly believe Disney couldn't adhere to those in 2 weeks? Do you honestly believe Disney wouldn't know those guidelines ahead of the public?
I'm sorry but cases and hospitalizations are spiking big time. Florida just set another record day in positive cases with increased positivity rate. NY, NJ, Conn all quarantining people coming in from Florida. EU banning travel from people in the US.

I know that the government in CA vs FL are not even comparible, but any thoughts if Disney World is next to postpone reopening? FL had higher covid cases diagnosed today than in CA (FL 5511 vs CA 4940).

I don't know, I get the sense from that statement that Disney is NOT happy about delaying their reopening. We all know FL government will not stop Disney World from reopening.. based on the tone of that statement, I would be surprised if Disney World chose to delay their opening!

I don't think it has anything to do with the State governments. CA was still due to release their guidelines on July 4th as was expected by Disney for however long. Disney did have a petition from the workers union though about reopening and now the World also has a similar petition from their workers union.

Is it really a delay when they don't even give a new reopening date?

It literally states that the state of CA is causing the delay, not Disney. Perhaps WDW will be delayed as well but if so it will be for completely different reasons.

I understand the hopium but my goodness lets be real people. Disney is not going to let itself reopen and get labeled as an epicenter for spreading the virus around the country.

Florida is more likely to make tests hard to come by than to tell theme parks not to reopen.

If Disney decided to delay reopening WDW it would be their own choice, not a state dictate.

Sigh. July 17th was such a signature date (65th anniversary of the park's initial opening day). Lost opportunity. :(

I guess I'll cancel our timeshare reservations at nearby property.

Especially since Bob Iger is on the California reopening task force. I'm sure they are aware of the guidelines, but they did state that they wouldn't have enough time to call up everyone they needed to open on time. Maybe that's just an excuse.

It'll be interesting to see how they respond at WDW. They are a bit farther along with their reopening in some ways. But with the numbers in Florida creating a brand new curve upward, I can see why cast members are hesitant to head back to work at this time.

Eventually, it might be a moot point, because traveling to and from Florida could be such a hassle due to quarantine restrictions, the attendance numbers might be too low to make it worthwhile staying open. The next 2 1/2 weeks will be something to watch.
