This was in Detroit News:
Disney opens vaults for special show
The exhibit opens at the place where Walt Disney found inspiration for Disneyland.
'Behind the Magic -- 50 Years of Disneyland'
When The Henry Ford decided to bring Disneyland to Dearborn, the idea sounded farfetched. Why would a serious history museum in the Midwest gather up 250 artifacts and devote 7,500 square feet of exhibition space to a theme park in California?
As it turns out, there is a historic precedent for "Behind the Magic - 50 Years of Disneyland," opening Sept. 23 and staying through Jan. 1 at the Henry Ford Museum.
The Henry Ford's Scott Mallwitz, an experienced design director, says Greenfield Village was an inspiration for Walt Disney's Disneyland, which opened in 1955 in Anaheim, Calif. "Walt was so taken with Henry Ford's vision of an idealized American village that he returned twice during the 1940s and made notes," he says.
