Hello
Having received so much help for our trip to WDW 2 years ago I thought I would ask away again for this years trip. (Last years trip to WDW was only planned 3 weeks in advance and went very well surprisingly). We went with Travel city and found them good value for money.
This year just DH and I are hoping to travel around California for 3 weeks in July visiting of course Disneyland and then San Francisco, Yosemite, Grand Canyon, Las Vegas and other places on route.
Has anyone done a trip like this booking independently?
I have had a quote from Bon Voyage which is not bad and need advice on whether it is better with so many hotels to book to go with a travel agent rather than solo?
I have looked at reviews and decided almost on the Howard Johnson at Disneyland but cannot come up with a good choice at San Francisco or Las Vegas. The other stops are only 1 nighters and so don't matter as much. I don't want top price but the 2 the agent suggested have bad reviews on trip adivsor and holidays uncovered.
Hope you can help

I've been to LA and SF a couple of times and booked independently. I got good prices for hotels via Priceline.com, and booked flights and car hire seperately. We paid $60 per night for a 4* hotel in the middle of the financial district of SF (the Omni) which I thought was great value for money.

Like Rob, we have also done this independently. We booked all of our hotels through Priceline. My sister did a similar trip and she also used Priceline for accommodation and car hire. We got some great deals.

Thank you for your replies. I think I may have put this in the wrong subject area, it should be in trip planning but can't cut and paste it there myself. I have looked at Priceline, Expedia and Opodo and got quotes but DH is still wary of not going through a travel agent.
