DisneyLAND bound!!

Hi Marathoners. I would like to place a link to your meet on the Disneyland DIS Meet Board. When you have the details finalized can someone send me a pm so that you can be added.

Good luck with your training.

Way kewl photo Wendy!!!! :cheer2: Do my eyes decieve me or have you done THE Pig!?!?!? Someday I WILL fit that race in! It sounds like the kewlest, well after Disney of course ;) lol

Pat I'm with you on the 3:20 finish time for Sept!!! I had a 3:28 can't remember the seconds chip time. 3:44 was my clock finish. I'm hoping with all the new short running I'm doing I'll be able to shave off a few minutes. Are we down to 74 days now??? :hourglass Somebuddy hand me that bag to breathe into LOL In out calming, slow breathing ;)

Happy training all!!!!

Yup, Diane, I donned my pink wings and did the Cincinnati Flying Pig marathon way back in 2000. It was great fun, with loads of freebies for the marathoners. And who could resist all the merchandise with the slogan "I'll run a marathon when pigs fly" on it!?!? I hope to go back for the 10th running of the pig, which should be coming up in May 2008 I believe.

Walk or run, but have FUN, everyone!

Hi, everyone! It is so nice to see everyone here, and especially the "new" faces.

Wendy, I LOVE the pix! Very cool! I am hoping to soon have a picture like that of me holding the Donald, the Minnie, the Castle, and the Mickey!

My time for the half was 3:21:59 and I am determined to finish at 3:15:00 or better in DL -- a solid sub-15 minute pace. Had a very unimpressive 5K earlier this week that has reminded me I really have to lose more weight and get more determined about adding jogging to my training if I am going to do that pace. Since I am doing the full instead of the 1/2 at WDW in January, DL is my only chance to improve my 1/2 time right now.

I can't believe how close this is getting. I guess we'd better decided on PSs and start making reservations soon, too! I started looking at hotels yesterday for the end of our trip when we head to Los Angeles. That makes it very real.

Keep up the training, all! I have a 5K tonight (the first time I've ever done 2 races in one week) and I will be thinking of all my WISH buddies. :grouphug:

Oh gosh I am so behind! Planning on doing my first 5k at DL.....and started "training" this week :) . Am I right that what I need to do is keep a 16 minute mile pace for 3 miles? My DH is doing the 1/2....but he is always in shape for that!
Can someone post a link to any info on shirts or DIS running gear?
BTW we will be at DLH.

I'll have to check the website to see if they listed what year this was of the running of the Pig because that would be kewl to do it on the 10th in 2008 if that is the year.

May 2007 we're planning on the Minnie Weekend which in 2006 was the same weekend as the Flying Pig so I was hoping to do the Flying Pig in May 2008 too :) It sounds amazing, so I'll be keeping it penciled in and hoping for 2008

JUDY FROM BOISE!!! :) check out the thread for FAMILY FUN RUN that was started by I believe Surge (sorry can't remember the rest of the person's name) but the 5K for DL is a 15 minute pace. Mom and Cathy are both doing it with you :) BUT read that thread as someone posted how at Jan06 5K in WDW they weren't as strict. I'm hoping they're not so Mom doesn't get swept because I don't think she's taking it seriously.

Good luck with your training!!! Put your steps in and you'll get there. Susan and I will be at the finish to cheer you on. :cheer2:

Hey I just had a thought, does the 5K bibs have names on them like the Half and full? If not get your name on your shirt so the cheering crowd can call out your name as you pass. It DOES make a difference.

Diane,
Hey I just had a thought, does the 5K bibs have names on them like the Half and full?
They put our NAMES on the bibs for the half at WDW??!! OH, WOW!!! I thought it was so awesome when the announcer called out our names as we came up to the finish line at the Minnie, whatever will I do with my name ON my bib??!! Oh, my goodness, oh my goodness!!! :woohoo: :woohoo:

got our DL park passes in the mail today. :woohoo: :woohoo:

I am beyond excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Diane-sorry, the 5k bibs didnt have the names on them

Anne-the 1/2 & full bibs had our first names on them. It was so cool to have total stangers cheering you on by name along the way. I'm getting choked up just typing about it :sad1:

Pat-that's great, I still have to order ours.

10 weeks from today I will have spent the whole day in DL :yay: and hopefully get in to see Fantasmic! :wizard:

Its getting soooooooooo close!

Officially the minimum pace is 15 minutes per mile. However for the family fun run at WDW, they are not overly concerned with pacing. I think people with 18-20 minute per mile paces were still being allowed to finish last year. I don't know if they will be strict or not but if you can get close to a 15 min/mile pace then I wouldn't worry too much.

Is anyone else going to try for Fantasmic! dessert seating? I want this so badly!!! I've missed out on it the other 3 times I've been to DL. I am going to shoot for either Monday or Tuesday night.

Good to know they aren't too strict.....not that I don't fully plan to crank out my 15 miles :).....but I will sleep better ;) .

Ohh Kristi I have been thinking the same thing. Trying to decide if its worth the $50 bucks. But I know that I could eat that much in dessert :lmao: We need to carbo load after the race too, right? Its just me & mom on this trip so I was thinking this would be really neat to do. Especially since after all my trips I still havent seen Fantasmic in WDW yet. I am going to the parks Friday before the race & Monday after. I bet Friday would be hard to get but I might try for it first.

Nancy-we will be arriving on the 14th around noon so maybe we can catch up at DTD on Thur evening.

Tiff, we'd love to meet up with you on Thurs evening in DTD! Maybe Lynnda and her DH will want to join us as well? We may be going to Knotts on Thurs, or maybe not. Even if we do go to Knotts on Thurs, they close for the day pretty early. We should be back in plenty of time for a DTD meet!

Okay, I need to spread my DIS wings and check the other message boards from time to time :).

My DH and I will be running/ walking the DL Half Marathon. We have run the half every year in WDW since the 10th. My DH ( Tim ) did the Goofy last year. He was so nice to walk the half with me last year. It was his PW ( personal worst ) but he didn't care

Tim will run the half, get his castle medal, go back to the room , shower, shave, watch TV, and then come back to see me finish!!!!

I like to take the whole experience in s l o w l y....but not be swept!

We will be staying at the Grand Californian and are very excited. Hoping to pin trade a little while we are there. Haven't been to DL in YEARS.

Can't wait to go.....
Susan

Oh, we got the chips the first year we ran and have used them ever since. Tim ran the Boston this year and was thrilled to show off his Disney chip.

Ohh, I've got a Tim too - that could get confusing - although mine is a non running Tim. He'll just be doing the sleep, shower, shave thing while I plod round - Helen

Nancy=that sounds great. Thur will be our first night there so it would be great to get to meet some people that night!

t-nut- Welcome! That's very cool DH has done so many WDW mary's.

I cant believe its getting so close. In 9 weeks & 2 days I will be in CA :yay:

I bought my airline ticket! Southwest Airlines had an internet special from Houston to LAX for $214! I was going to use a pass, but not when I could get such a cheap ticket! My mom booked her flight this morning too! :cool1: A mother and daughter trip to DL. This is going to be too much fun! We will definitely see you guys on Saturday at 4:00 at Napoli's. We are staying at the DLH.

:welcome: to all the newcomers! We are so happy you joined us. This is a great group of WISHers. Don't forget to check out our weekly training thread.

We already placed the order for WISH Racing Team shirts, but Sunny has set up a site at cafepress where you can order t-shirts and other fun WISH stuff. http://www.cafepress.com/277307

I can't wait to get that castle medal! :yay:

Congrats on the awesome ticket deal!!

We need a list of everyone's screen names, real names, and location like we have on the training board so that we can keep track of everyone. Anyone want to give it a shot?
