For my son's birthday I am trying to decide if the birthday cakes are worth it or just get the dessert at the buffet or restaurant. Do they taste good? Also if we get him a cake should we do it at a character buffet or at a regular restaurant? Also if you have pics of the birthday cakes to show me that would be great! Thanks.

There is a Disneyland cake thread on here with various pages on it. I would try searching it. Im sure there are many pictures on there.

One of my two cakes is posted over in the cake thread. It was delicious and well worth what we paid through private dining. I personally wouldn’t want to drag a cake around the parks though - if you’re planing a meal on an off day at the hotels or not going back into the parks it would totally be worth it to me.

Absolutely worth it. They are delicious and absolutely beautiful. Yes they are expensive, but the last one I got looked like it came from a specialty cake shop.

We did one for our son's 7th, and it was lovely and delicious. We'll do it again for our daughter's 3rd, so for us it was certainly worth it. I agree with Disney_Alli about dragging it around though. The smallest cake was far too much for the four of us to eat in one sitting. We arranged for it to be served at Ariel's Grotto, and at the end of our lunch there we headed back to our hotel for a midday break and put the leftovers away for later.

I did a quick search for it before I posted. Just did a longer search are you talking about the "we should start a disneyland cake thread".

I think that's the thread -- the last few pages have more recent photos of cakes. We were at CC two months ago when two different families had birthday cakes delivered. The cakes were very cute and a huge hit with both birthday celebrants. Both families appeared to really enjoy the cakes!

We had one delivered to our room at the Disneyland hotel. I would not get it again. While it was pretty no one liked the taste. Way way too much frosting.

The restaurant ones look better though.
