Disneyland better than WDW

Anyone else a little tired of hearing about how much better Disneyland is than Walt Disney World? I love the podcasts and all the hard working members of the team but, intentionally or unintentionally, this message seems to be the theme as of late. There will always be people who like one over the other and that's awesome and makes for fun jokes and ribbing. I just think the WDW podcast should advocate for WDW and the Disneyland podcast can advocate for Disneyland. Right now, as a WDW lover I feel a little abandoned and neglected. Its almost like no one likes WDW better anymore, except maybe Kathy lol. Just my friendly opinion.

I think the team loves WDW and Disneyland, but their extended coverage of Disneyland is because of the 60th(?) anniversary celebration that's going on there.
I also am not really interested in Disneyland, info, so I just don't watch it. That's the nice thing about DIS - there's something for every interest.

I think you need to step back and put yourself in their shoes.. They live next to WDW and visit it pretty much all the time to make a living. Disneyland or any other disney property is something special, for them. they also operate a travel agency, of course they are going to push their product. I'm very happy this is done with reviews and being informative. if it was a straight out sales pitch, i wouldn't be here. If they are seeing people deciding that WDW this year isnt' for them, why not push the other domestic disney property they have their finger on where everyone is interested in right now and it's just good business to report on what people are looking for information on. Now, what I do dislike is how much ends up in the orlando show but I have to admit, since they started dreams unlimited travel youtube channel it's been much better. not perfect but much better.

There are things better about every property.. they are very different from each other. I personally feel disney really ignores WDW compared to all other properties. It's probably why universal spent so much time perfecting what they do in florida before they took the battle to california. I am hoping they woke up because there is a lot of things that work so much better in disneyland and now shanghai and that whole approach and florida seems like the dumping ground to me a lot of the time. i'm crossing my fingers this next 10 years is going to be an all out battle royale and the best of every park makes it to florida..

I have been to both and honestly, I think trying to compare them is futile. Although they share a lot of similarities, they are very, very different places and different experiences. I think any big Disney fan should definitely do both.

The podcast team has spent a lot of time in Disneyland lately and some of them were out there for the first time so it's only natural that they'd be singing its praises. Plus, as Bryan said, the whole point of the podcast is to sell Disney travel so getting all of us east-coasters especially to maybe consider a west coast trip when we typically only go to Florida makes good business sense for them.

Exactly. I definitely pick and choose sometimes which shows I'll listen to. For whatever reason, I enjoy the shows with reviews even when they are of things I have no expectation of doing, like going to Aulani, for example. I tend not to like the more "nuts and bolts" planning shows if they are about something I'm not actually doing. So I may listen to a Disneyland review episode and skip a "how to book your Disneyland stay" episode.

I think the point is that there is something to love with both resorts -not one over the other. And honestly, the team spends much of their time and efforts covering WDW when DL is equally deserving. In fact, I'll be at DL on Friday so all this information has been particularly helpful to me!

Have a :wizard: magical trip! :)

I have a hard time comparing Walt Disney World to Disneyland sometimes. I love Disneyland so much more than I love Magic Kingdom, but then there's everything else WDW has! Love all of it! :lovestruc

Exact same boat! Disneyland vs. Magic Kingdom, I'd take DL any day (except Festival of Fantasy...), but I'd rather take a trip to WDW as a whole. There's so much to do there. :)

I think the team does a great job balancing the views, personally. I think it's kind of hard to discuss WDW without bringing in some comparisons to DL.

What is it about Disneyland that makes you love it so much more?

I feel you're looking way too deep into this.

They live a few miles from World, so of course Land is more shiny and special since they don't go every week.
If the Orlando team lived in California, I'm sure they'd feel the opposite.

Oh, and they're currently in a Disneyland promotion for their travel company, so...

I second to that, it's the DL60 that takes much of the attention at the moment, and why not? That's where it all started! :tink:

I haven't got too much into the Disneyland shows either, but not because I don't like/would prefer DL, but because my aim is to plan for a WDW vacation. :smickey:

Otherwise I'm sure that I'd be all over that DIS edition too. :teeth:

I do have, on the other hand, really really enjoyed Michael Bowling's awesome episodes Disneyland at 60 and then followed up with Connecting With Walt - that's truly some amazing history and in depth information about both parks and Walt himself. :worship:

Just wait and see when WDW 50 yrs will come by... I'm sure we'll see this "topic" turned around completely! popcorn::

The thing I like the most with The DIS podcasts is that one can pick and choose from topics throughout the season. For example, I've been listening to more straight forward review editions lately, than usual and that's because my pre-planning has really begun to kick off! :surfweb::music:

:tinker:

Have to disagree with the OP here. I love the parks on both coasts and think the team does a great job of saying which one works best for each of the criteria being discussed. A rave comment about something at DL doesn't necessarily mean that its better (or worse) than WDW unless that's specifically stated. There is much to be admired about the California parks. There's much to be admired about the FL parks.

Disneyland for them is vacation the same way most people feel like going to WDW. The magic tends to fade a bit when you live right next to it.

I don't think the idea was Disneyland is better, but it's a view with the lens of a seasoned WDW veteran.

I think there are things that are better at Disneyland.
I think there are things that are better at Disney World.
I don't think either is overall better than the other. They're different. I suspect the team would agree.
