Hey,

I was wondering if anyone could reccomend any sites that give a lot of info about attractions, hotels, and whatever else in the Disneyland area! I want to look at hotels other than the Disney-owned ones just in case they are full.

Mouseplanet.com has a lot of information as well as a discussion board about DLR.

We stayed at both the Disneyland Hotel and the Candy Cane Inn this summer. We liked the CCI better and it cost a fraction of the price!!

What did you like better about CCI vs. DLH (not counting the price)?

1. The beds at the CCI were awesome!

2. The CCI is small and personal. I hate walking through a huge hotel in my swim suit.

3. DL had a VERY small laundry room for a very large hotel. The Paradise Pier hotel doesn't have a laundry room at all and they send their guests to the DL hotel. The line to do laundry was hours long - I'm not exagerating.

4. The DL hotel was a hike to the parks, I wasn't expecting that. The CCI has a shuttle which was nice, but the walk is easy as well.

5. CCI has a free breakfast.

6. The "cool" pool at DL hotel was packed. I wanted to stay there because I loved the Neverland pool, but I ended up hating it because it was so crowded.

The DL hotel is nice. The rooms are nice, there are several places to get a meal as well as Downtown Disney, and I love the pixie dust border. If they were the same price...but they aren't so I would pick the CCI hands down.

www.anaheimoc.org is the web site for the Visitors center. You can request a free paper visitors guide or just use the links on the website for the on line version. If you request the guide I would suggest sending the request in writing. I wrote for the guide and received it back in a matter of days. Some who have requested via the website haven't gotten it for months. There is also a Adventurecard you can request. It give discounts on area hotels, resturaunts, attractions, and rental cars.

The guide contains "what to do in Orange county, The Anaheim Resort, Visitors Information, Calendar of events, accommodations, driving maps, transportation, attractions, child's play, arts and culture, beaches, sports and recreation, shopping, dining and entertainment" sections.

I have found it very helpful in planning our trip. It lists the hotels, gives a description, web site addresses, phone numbers, and also has a hotel map of the area.
