Disneyland area hotel sticker shock

If the prices are insane it’s more likely due to a conference at ACC than Disneyland. One big event there sends the entire area’s supply and demand all out of whack.

I can only speak to WDW but the rates are significantly higher in October here also.

We have trips booked the first week in October and the first week in December and the October room rates were higher from the get go.

Perhaps its the interest in Fall and the Halloween events???

I believe that, but the hotel setups at Disneyland and WDW couldn’t be more dissimilar. Disneyland is across the street (quite literally) from the largest US convention center outside of Las Vegas. Shows can attract as many as 100,000 attendees, 90%+ from out of town, nearly all business travelers staying 1 person to a room. Natural Products Expo West impacts hotel prices as far away as Huntington and Newport Beaches. Disneyland+DCA averages about 90,000 guests per day, mostly locals, and those staying in hotels stay 2-4 to a room.

The fall events maybe increase room demand at the walking distance hotels to DL by 10-30%? A convention increases it by up to 500%.

Probably a combo of Fall events and conventions pushing up demand in October as you point out.
