Here is my input.
The drive can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 90 minutes to Universal. We went on a Sunday and left the disney area around 7:00 am and was there so early we had to wait for the park to open. Ended up browsing Citywalk area for a long time(btw, its a cool place and almost worth the trip itself)
We went two days later and got stuck in traffic for what seemed an eternity.
Again when we went this year we didn't leave early enough to miss rush traffic and it took us a little over an hour to get there.
Drive yourself and get preferred parking and hopefully you can avoid that parking garage.
The back lot tour is amazing and fun, Jurrassic Park is a great ride. It was back in 96 and still is today. The mummy ride is fun as well.
I like the setting of Universal studios as well as you go down to the lower portion you can see all the sets and what not.
70 bucks per person for just a couple of attractions seems a bit steep plus parking but I hold a special place in my heart for universal hollywood.
Do not do the all you can eat voucher though.. It's only good for food at the listed places and doesn't include drinks. You better plan on being there from open to close to make it worth your while. IMO
