As much excitement as I have for our next trip to DLR(11 days!!) I'm also dreading that feeling of when you get home and it's like, well now what? Been planning for over a year and now it's over. Usually we go in August, and coming home is a drag. But this year it'll be Halloween and then Thanksgiving, and Christmas...so I guess I still have some to look forward to when I arrive back home. (:

You could do what we did. As soon as you start feeling those Disney withdrawals, book yourself a Disney Cruise. The last two summers have been Disney vacations. First WDW then DL, next is a cruise. Hopefully after that all three of my sons will be 48 inches and we can start the circuit again and ride everything this time!

Start planning another trip. Even if you don't have a date, or even a concrete plan. It can be a Disney trip, but it doesn't have to be. Plan something fun closer to home, that you could maybe do some weekend.
And Christmas will help, a lot. We went for Christmas last year, and we had serious vacation letdown, combined with Christmas letdown when we got home. I would still do it again, but I'd give myself time to adjust to the real world.
Oh, have fun on your trip. Try not to start thinking about "after" before you even get there. I know that's hard though.

I felt the same way about my wedding/honeymoon being over (maybe I should have waited more than 4 hours after the wedding to go on the honeymoon lol) so we decided to plan a quick DL trip to look forward to after. And we're here now! Haha. I like to write about the trip and make videos on movie maker out of the pics and videos we take and that helps. :)

We (family) were just talking about this at dinner last night :) We leave in 9 days for our Disneyland trip and last night we decided to look into a trip for next year at WDW...yes! a winter trip to the World :cool1:

I am currently sitting in an airport motel, waiting to drive home and do work for school tomorrow. Definitely feeling sad about our trip being over :( Yesterday was bad too, when we were at Downtown Disney especially. So close to my happiest place on Earth, but unable to go :(

I'm having the same worries. We leave in 45 hours. I've been saving up for this trip for 2 years and actively planning it since February when I got my tax return. I've been checking the DIS boards and MiceChat daily for the last 7 months. Once we get back from our 4 day trip.....what will I have to look forward to? We don't have enough money to just plan a cruise or another trip 6 months down the road. The thought of this upcoming trip had gotten me through a tough year (work stress, my first surgery), so once we return to "normal life", I have a feeling I'm going to feel "lost" for awhile.

I made a thread about the exact same problem.... the post Disneyland Blues :(
I am still reading the boards and I have a dream in mind to go to Disney at Christmas. I don't know if we can go next Christmas (2013) because of our budget but its a nice thought. I had a good time on our last trip but I didn't do as much as I wanted as we were travelling with an elderly family member... I keep crunching the numbers to see if I can make my dream a reality if the family is willing to forgo a big Christmas!

I have been dreading the exact same thing. I love the anticipation and the planning but am apprehensive about going back to "real life" after we return home. I'm hoping I'll feel like I got a good dose of Disneyland by the end of our trip. I guess when I'm home, I'll just start thinking ahead to the trip I want to take to DL for my 40th birthday (in two years). :D

Oh hey great idea!! My 40th is in a little under 2 yrs as well! If we can't swing Christmas maybe we can work that date out. :)

Well, we decided to keep the Disneyland jar on the counter to start saving for our next trip! This will most likely be in 2 years depending in how we do. It is fun to take the jar money to the bank at the end of every month to see the Disney account grow. It is also fun to put money into the jar "ear marked" for something specific like a special meal or a treat like a caramel apple etc. In reality it all goes into one account, but it makes it more fun.

We have been home for 4 weeks. The first week was kind of a downer.... Getting back into 'real life'. Now we are back into our routines it is better.

We have decided to bring some Disney magic into our lives on a regular basis. Last week our DS and I made cookies with the Mickey cookie cutter we bought on our trip. We even dipped the ears in chocolate like in the parks! Tonight we made Blue Bayou gumbo for dinner. We have made a pact to make a Disneyland recipe once a month. We have plans to make Mickey beignets in the next few weeks.

I had a Mickey and a Minnie beach towel for them when we arrived at the hotel to use at the pool. They now hang in their bathroom replacing the co-ordinating decorator towels that were there. They each brought home an alarm clock from the park. The old fashioned looking one with the characters and fireworks that light up when the bells ring. Everyday things made a little fun.

I plan on little Disney inspired surprises for the kids now and then. A note in their lunch with a Disney sticker accompanied by their sandwich cut out with the Mickey cutter, Mickey pancakes for breakfast every now and again. I also have Disney slippers to give them next month when the weather cools down and Disney pens and pencils to take to school after Christmas break.

My DD is entering teenage hood and DS is no longer a little boy. We had such fun playing altogether and really reconnected as a family. I want to hang onto that. I think that Walt intended Disneyland and Disney to remind us adults what is really important and to remember the child within us. I plan on keeping some of that "Disneyland feeling" going in this family.

I'm worried about the blues after the trip! But the next month will be DD#2's first b-day and we are planning on going again next December now for a girls' trip since one very important person can't make this trip. Not looking forward to the post DL-Blues!

I always have that same feeling!!! It's the worse ever and now that I'm expecting I think it may be worse since I'm an emotional wreck with this one!!! As soon as we come back I like to put our trips scrapbook and pictures together and then after the month that it usually takes me ;) I start planning our next trip to Disney :) We always go the same time of year so I start looking at room rates, car and flight! It keeps my mind busy most of the year because I am constantly monitoring prices to get the best deals!!!

i started planing another trip mines our two year wdw trip that my dad and i are planing.

We are planning another trip, but it's not till summer 2014. And it will be our first trip to WDW and the WWOHP, which is really exciting, but I wish I could go back to Disneyland too. I think I am especially bummed because I missed two of my favorite attractions this trip, Captain EO and Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln :(

I love this! We leave in a few days and I am wondering about Disney withdrawl when we get back. We will have done two Disney trips this year! Crazy I know, once at WDW for our first time in March and then now in October. I do feel like the kids are only young for so long, it's so good to have that family fun time together. I like the souvenirs you selected to keep the magic going at home. pixiedust:

We got back from 5 days there last night. My 12 year old cried. :sad1:

Some good parts about coming home, from my POV:
* My own bed!
* I can cook meals again! Cheap eating, complete with veggies!
* My pets!
* Not spending so much I feel dizzy
* Not hearing others padding around in the halls of the hotel
* No more pressure to keep everything fun for everyone!

Ok, that's all I got. :)

LOL! We are the same way! We always start planning our NEXT trip as soon as we leave a trip! As in - IN the Car, on the way home! :drive: (we have about a 13 hr drive from WDW) Even if it's 2 years away! (We start talking about what we liked, what we would do differently, and what we want to try next time!)

This will be our first DLR trip, but I did want to point out that when we were at WDW last Christmas, they put a brochure on our bed about getting a discount for reserving your next trip before you leave. (They did that when we were on the cruise too, but this was the first time I've seen them do it at WDW.) Don't know if DLR has started doing that or not, but if you are going (to either one) you might want to keep that in mind in case you can take advantage of the deal! :cheer2:

Leaving is always sad :sad: Since I was young my own little tradition would be to throw some coins in the wishing well the last night (Has to be at night. Seems more magic that way pixiedust:). Of course, one of the wishes is always to come back soon.:thumbsup2 When I was in Jr. High I bought a castle shaped charm and swore to wear it every day until I went back. I think I wore that thing for 3 years straight. :rotfl2: Still have it, somewhere.
Now I have a Mickey watch I bought on Main Street. I like having some Disney magic nearby at all times. :goodvibes Someday, I will spend the big $$ and get a custom one drawn just for me.

Last trip to DL was September for the 1/2 marathon. As usual, got a bit weepy on the way out. :sad1: Planning a big trip to DW with all my sibs and their kids in January, so I'll get a Disney fix, although not quite as dear to my heart as DL. Til then, plenty of Disney songs on my ipod and Disney movies to tide me over. Fiance brought up the possibility (all on his own, no hinting from me, I promise) of going to DL (among other parks) for our honeymoon in April, so between that and the next DL 1/2 I might get to go twice next year! Perhaps I will get myself an annual pass:scratchin Man, I miss having one of those!
