I'm taking my mid-60s uncle to Disneyland for the first time this weekend, and need some advice.

He had a stroke a few years ago, and while he's fairly mobile with a walker, we need to get him an ECV for the park. I take it we also need to get a GAC, although I can't seem to figure out exactly HOW to do that.

For the ECV, we're local to LA and only going for one day, so we can't really have one delivered to a hotel. I'm thinking we should just rent one from the park, but no one seems to have had good experiences with them. Am I overthinking this? I know they're more expensive, which is fine.

For the GAC, where do I actually get a card? I know that the ECV is a dead giveaway, but he'll be okay to walk from outside a ride inside.

I'm open to any and all suggestions, and could really use some help! He's wanted to go to Disneyland for the last FIFTY years, so I want to make sure he has the best time he can.

After my back surgery, I couldn't wait to get back to Disneyland. I rented the park ECV's. I didn't have any problem with them other than the fact you can't take it out to DTD or into the Grand Californian. They can go between Disneyland and California Adventure.

When you rent the ECV, they will give you a guide to where to enter the attractions with an ECV. Most of Fantasyland is entered through the exit. You shouldn't have any problems.

As for the GAC, for mobility, they will suggest a wheelchair or ECV. If he has any hidden disabilities, you can see if he can get one at City Hall inside Disneyland.

Have a great tme.

Some queues are REALLY long and there is no GAC that can shorten the distance. I would recommend keeping the ECV through the queues. If he does decide to walk through some queues, a GAC to avoid stairs would likely be helpful.

Other than that, what kind of accomodation are you thinking would be helpful? If his problem is standing or distances then he'll be told to stay in the ECV through the duration of the queue. There just isn't a GAC to be able to sit down in the queues, wait less time or shorten distances.
