Disneyland 70th speculations and news

Happy Birthday Disneyland! So many great memories at Disneyland with my late parents and all my memories on trips with family and friends!! And my solo trips! Thank you Walt Disney for your park!

Looking forward to the future of Disneyland!

Here's an idea of how many people it takes to keep the park running! I don't know whether this crowd includes the DCA CMs; since that park opens later, many of them probably could have been over at DL for the NYSE event. And I realize that the parks are probably staffed to the max today.

I was just thinking about how much I've loved Disney all my life. I remember watching Wonderful World Of Disney every week when I was little and always especially loving Pluto and Donald Duck. The first movie I ever saw in a theater was Snow White and I was so scared of the witch LOL. I used to collect those Disney stickers that came in loaves of Wonder Bread and it was so fun to find a character I loved in there. I had some family friends who went to World in the 70s and they gave me one of those giant pencils that were all the rage back then and a brochure. It seemed so magical! It became my dream to go to Disneyland.

I never went to World but when I moved to CA I finally made it to Disneyland. It was more magical than I could have imagined. That first day I knew nothing about the parks and as I walked down Main Street I had to sit down on the curb because I was just overwhelmed with emotion. I couldn't believe I was actually there! By the second visit I learned of the existence of Annual Passports and saved up around $99 to get a Socal pass.

When I lived in LA I went once or twice a week for years. I sure miss those days!

Happy Birthday to Disneyland, and thank you Walt for your vision and imagination!

PS. It's really fun having Disboards to share my Disneyland obsession with. I used to go on another board for years and only came here to read posts. When the parks shut down in 2020 I joined because I wanted to talk about Disneyland but I also thought you guys might have insider information about when it would reopen lol. Thanks for all the planning help over the years!

Agreed, I love DISboards! Appreciate all of you. I need an outlet to blab about Disneyland with other people, otherwise I may drive the other people in my life crazy 🤣

Was a great morning. Josh D’Amaro & Bob Iger spoke, opening ceremony with train arrival & monorail stopped on rail out front. Gates opened & cast members from all departments lined Main Street end to end.

So awesome that they had all those characters on the train! Then the band started playing the music to Fantasmic and I lost it, LOL
How cool that you were there in person!

Happy birthday Disneyland! I was just there last week and already miss it! Even though I'm at WDW now, I had to take a break and go to the resort to take in/join the celebration online.

Thank you, Walt Disney, for dreaming big, ignoring the nay-sayers, and creating something so wonderful.
