Disneyland 1/2 Marathon Weekend ** September 2-4, 2011 ** Check-In

When I signed up for this race, I had major anxiety about the sweepers! So I ran the PF Chang Rock 'n' Roll 1/2 marathon in Phoenix this past January. It helped me know that I could finish the race way ahead of the sweepers. My time was 3:11:37. My strategy is the first 3 miles of the race will be kind of slow for me since it'll be through the park and I'll definitely take pictures. I can make up for loss time when we get out on the streets of Anaheim!

I'm so excited for this race!!!
I think that sounds like a great strategy. I may follow it as well! :thumbsup2

Might as well. There is no way I'm going to "run" through Disneyland and not capture it with pictures. Anyone who knows me knows I take pictures of everything. ;) And since this race may be a once in a lifetime thing for me, I'm definitely going to get my pictures worth!!

I am also registered for the DL 1/2 and DL 5K this year. I had a fabulous time with my friends in WDW for the Princess 1/2 marathon. I am so excited my girlfriend who came down to cheer my friend and I at WDW is now also registered for the DL weekend!!!! DH also wants to do the 5k as a family with my daughter. I too can't believe how fast the 1/2 marathon is filling up.

I just registered today for the half marathon!! Now I need to decide if I'm going to start training now or just wait until June.

I'm the same way with photographing things! It sounds like a plan to me. I'm only doing the 5K this year (I'm saving the 1/2 for next year) and I'm hoping o walk away with tons of photos.

Life has been busy with school and the girls only trip this past weekend. Hopefully in the next few days I'll really get the OP updated with everyone who is participating!

Right now I need to start looking into where I'm going to be staying.

I signed up for the half a couple of weeks ago! I'm super excited and nervous. This will be my first half and I don't really know what to expect, but that just adds to the excitement! :woohoo:

Wendy! You're doing the Half? :cool1: Yay! It's so much fun! We will for sure have to have a Diva mini meet that weekend!

I like the sound of a Diva mini meet during the Half weekend ;)

My mom and Rochelle will be there as spectators, Jen's running the Half, that's 5 of us all ready. Last year MaryJo met up with us too. :) Maybe we can all plan dinner together before Saturday night before the race. Last year we went to CPK in the Garden Walk.

I'm looking at staying at the Disneyland Hotel or Paradise Pier this yeart. I've never stayed on site so we might just go for it.

Dinner on Saturday would be awesome. We'll have to figure something out for sure. I'll be there the whole weekend, but only participating in the 5K. I'm hoping to bring a few friends so I don't have to drive down solo. It's the week before my birthday so I'll get to celebrate that too. I was originally planning on staying onsite, but that's not gonna happen this year. Gotta find something affordable. I have about ... $75 saved up so far :rotfl: I love staying onsite though. It sure is fun.

Just signed up today! It was 90% full, so I figured no time to deliberate. My last 1/2 was DL 2009, so it's time to dust off the running shoes and start training.

Hi neighbor - I'm in Gilbert! :wave2:

The co-worker that I'm running with also did the PF Chang this year - that's what motivated me to sign up for this one. I would have liked to have done that first since it's local, but I just had a baby via c-section at the end of September, so no way could I have done it so soon.

I like your picture taking strategy - I bet a lot of people will do that that aren't planning to try to "win" the race. :thumbsup2

ETA - I told my 4 year old son about the race, and he wanted to do one too, so I signed him up for the kids race - he's so excited!

Hey everyone!! Registration jumped again this morning including the 5K.

1/2 is at 97%
5k is at 73%
Little Kid Races are at 58%.

So if you're thinking about the 1/2, it's gonna go quick!!!:goodvibes

:woohoo: I officially have my reservation made with the HOJO. Now the countdown can really begin. I'm trying to persuade my friend to join me for a dual birthday trip as well. We'll see how that goes.

Haha, I think I'm the only 5K'er so far. Unless I read wrong. I tried to update the OP with those who said they were already registered. If I missed you, just give me the head's up and I can fix it easy!

Just like Kim posted, here are the registration stats as of March 9:

Disneyland® Half Marathon - 98% Full
Disneyland® Family Fun Run 5K - 73% Full
Disneyland® Kids' Races - 58% Full

 I hope everyone who wanted to do it is signed up!

Registration is open for these Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend events:

Kids' Races - 60% full!

I am so happy that I registered when it first opened. My training partner was on the fence so I guess now he is officially out of luck.

My DW just started working out and she is going to sign up and do the 5k.

I can't believe how fast it sold out this year! :scared1:

I'm really excited, I just booked Paradise Pier for Saturday and Sunday night of the 1/2 Marathon weekend! I've never stayed on-site before. :goodvibes

Congrats to everyone who was able to register for this year!

Sarah - I'm very envious! :rotfl: That's the last on-site hotel I want to try someday.
