Disneyland ½ Marathon Weekend~2012 Check-in!

Thanks. I imagine it's gonna be a really busy weekend at the parks with the marathon and labor day, right?

It's not that bad. A lot of schools will be back in session, so that helps a little bit. Indy, Splash and Space will be b/w 45-hour (but they also have FP), but POC, HM and those types are usually about 20 min or so. It's not summer or holiday crazy though. Cars Land will be crowded though.

What's the best way to get from Long Beach airport to Fairfield Inn hotel across from Disneyland?
Is it best to take a cab for 2 adults and 1 child?

Do a search focusing on this forum. I saw it as a thread a while back, and people were talking about which is better. I know it's smaller like Orange vs. LAX so it'll be easy once you land, not sure the best way.

So, depending on when you are arriving and leaving, we are getting close to the 60 days out to make dining reservations. Anyone got anything special planned?

We'll for sure do Goofy's Kitchen since my kids love it. Was thinking brunch but have been reading rave reviews on their dinner buffet so may do that instead. Haven't decided on the day yet anyway. Also want to try the BBQ dinner. Last time we were there, we skipped that reservation and had ice cream sundaes for dinner instead. :cool1:

Also, i'm reeeeeaaaalllly hoping the Carsland craziness dies down a little on the weekdays following labor day. I'm not waiting in any 3 hour lines! ;)

I'm doing Carthay Circle for lunch or dinner on Sunday. Can't make up my mind which one I want to do. It's funny the difference b/w DL and WDW as far as reservations... tomorrow we can do reservations for Sunday after the race and then on Wednesday I can do reservations for WDW for Marathon weekend in January! :rotfl:

I hoping Cars will die down a little too. I'm staying until Tues afternoon now and have EE that morning. I figure b/w Sat and Tues, I should be able to get the rides and wander around a little.

Yeah, I dont have any reservations thought out for dining...it's just me though so I should be able to get into something just walking up. :rotfl:

Got my res!! Carthay Circle for dinner Sunday night. I asked if I could do the outdoor, and they said it wasn't available to ask when I get there. But then again, I don't know if you can specify when you're making them. Plus it's only me and I'm not in a hurry, so fingers crossed.

Random question for you SoCal'ers. Did anyone do the Color Run earlier this year? Lookin' for some tips about what you did to protect your eyes w/ the powder.

Hello everyone!

I don't think I've posted here yet. I will be running the Disneyland Half as the finisher to my Coast2Coast and DH will be joining me as my cheer squad!

It is a really quick trip for us. We fly to LAX on Saturday, September 1st, arriving around 9 AM, and we will then check-in at the Hotel Menage, head to the Expo, probably grab lunch, then do Twilight Tickets for California Adventure (we are excited about the Cars land), then sleep, up for the run, probably a brunch after, then maybe some shopping at DTD, and then back to LAX for a 6PM flight home!

We just did a WDW/Cruise trip in October 2011 (where I ran the Wine&Dine), and then a WDW trip in February of 2012 for our honeymoon (where I ran the Princess), and we are planning a WDW Christmas trip in 2012 staying at BI club level, so This whirlwind trip was really all we could justify. But we are super excited!

- Carey

After a rough workout caused some complications with my pregnancy already, my Dr is telling me that I cannot run the half :( I do not want my registration fee to go to waste though. What a bummer! Hopefully, by the time the race comes around we can re-evaluate.

Hi everyone! Just found this post although I've been on the DL half thread on the WISH events board. I did the Goofy at WDW this past January and am really looking forward to getting my C2C medal at DL. Have really been struggling with my training though as it has been so hot and dry here in the Midwest!

What about just walking it? I'm sure you'd still be able to finish in time.

Congrats!! I agree w/ Sarah ~ would you be able to walk it? Hope you will!

It was posted in the WISH thread, so thought I'd post it here. The race program is up now. Along with the 5k map. The official name of the 5k is the Cars Land 5k Rally, love it!

And for anyone running the 5k... the finish line is in Cars Land!! Eeeeeeeeee!!!! So excited, the days can't pass by fast enough.

What I would give to have the race shirt be the cover of the program or merch shirts for purchase. Love that logo.

Congratulations on the pregancy, though! I hope everything is ok? What are your thoughts on walking?

Oooooh, that looks good. Kinda jealous of that run! You will have a blast!

I ran a 4th of July 5k yesterday. So fun. Nothing like crossing that finish line! Hhhmmm, that PLUS 10 miles. I think I'm crazy. :rotfl2:

So...ummm, if someone were to sneak down to Anaheim TOMORROW to use brand spanking new APs, what would be a good place to stay? Cheap but not gross, clean, doesn't have to be super close (we could always park with the AP). Got the big trip planned for Sept so this would be strictly on a budget, spontaneous, and QUICK.

Hey guys! Got another race email this morning. It has the igift bag stuff in it. If anyone didn't get the email and want it, pm me your email and I'll forward it to you. They say the next email will have the stuff about the bibs, so it'll probably come out the last week of July/ 1st week of Aug. We're slowly getting there!

Don't know if you fond a place yet, but try looking at ones on DL Drive. Near Ball. I stayed at Travelodge right on the corner last year and it was cheap and nice, you just have to walk over the overpass by the parking lot. Don't know what prices will be day of though.

We fly in 8/29 and are staying at Hojo. The current plan is DCA for 8/30 with WCT for dinner. 8/31 for the MK and Expo, 9/1 for MK with dinner at Storytellers, and 9/2 for the half followed by more DCA with dinner at Carthay...

Hello, I was wondering if Photopass photographers were out along the course (similar to WDW Marathon). It would make the current Photopass+ offer even more attractive for those of us who may stop for a character photo or two.

I haven't done DL but at WDW they have special race photographers not photo pass that are rather expensive. I'm sure DL is the same.

No photopass photogs at DL. In the parks and backstage there have been CMs near characters that will take a photo of you if you have a camera, but you need to provide your own. But once you leave the parks, at stops like the Mariachi band or Hawaiin Dancers, you'll have to find someone to take your pics. The race photogs are usually Brightroom or a similar company. And like the OP mentioned, they can get pretty $$$. Also, they are not at character stops. They're along the course, usually near/around the Castle and 1 other spot in the parks a couple places in Anaheim and 1 in Angel Stadium.

Duh - you are totally right. I had my camera with me and didn't end up purchasing the expensive (non-photopass) photos. Oh well, the CD still looks like a deal since we will be there for 5 days with kiddos and a grandma. Thanks for setting me straight!

Cheers!

Have I started training? I ran a 5K race yesterday and have signed up for a 10k that will be in July. So, I guess I am forcing myself to gradually build up to 13 miles. I am getting a little nervous!

Here I am quoting myself! I just feel like telling my nervous self to not be nervous. You can do it;). I have been following the Hal Higden training plan sprinkled with Jeff Galloway advice and have learned that running is everything and nothing I thought it would be. For about a year I have hovered around running three miles, and three miles sometimes felt like such a struggle that I doubted how I could possibly do 13. What I have discovered is that once I started the long runs on the weekend, it got easier!! Not easy but easier! I can even say that running 5 miles seems easier than running three. This has been an interesting journey and I am not even done!
