Disneyholics---When did you become a Disneyholic?

We just got back April 29th and I am already planning our next trip. I became addicted in 2003 when I was pregnant with our now 20 mos old daughter. My sister who lives in Orlando thought it was about time that my twin dd's who were almost 5 at the time get out there and experience the magic so she ordered us a vacation video. It about saved my sanity. I was so sick during the 1st 4 mos of that pregnancy I couldnt eat, or do anything but laydown and suffer. I watched that video constantly and dreamed an plotted and schemed. I called WDW found out costs. My girls watched the video with me all the time. I had an entertainment book which at the time had a coupon that was for a Disney discount club. Of course I called. They were phasing that out so they gave me the number to the DVC. Oh my goodness.
I couldnt believe the good fortune. I knew we had to become members of DVC. They sent out a video and book. I became obsessed with owning at Disney. My husband buckled under the pressure after the baby was born. I got the new vacation dvd and we watched it constantly so much so that Mickey is one of the baby's first words. I planned and planned. I got Cinderella's Royal table 1st try. I was focused. We got into all the character dining we desired. I bought princess everything. We went in June right after the girls turned 6, the baby was 9 mos. When we pulled into Saratoga I almost cried. Going to our room which was gorgeous. watching the fireworks at midnight fom our bedroom window was so magical. Seeing the castle for the 1st time, our 1st trip, made us all obsessed with Disney. The food, the fireworks, the characters, the parades, the wonderful environment, it exceeded my dreams. I personally cant think of a better family vacation. I am totally devoted to Disney. Thank goodness my husband is the kind for whom if something is working he just stays with it, he's defiitely a creature of habit. For this trip I learned how to make t shirts. I made a gazillion with our favorite princesses and of course Mickey and Minney. I feed my addiction with the DIS and also with Sam Brown and any thing else on the travel channel that features Disney. :earsboy: :earsgirl: ::MinnieMo

I was certifiably a Disneyholic after my internship with the WDW College Program! And, that was 15 long years ago! :teeth:

I'm pretty sure I was genetically designed as a Disneyholic. My parents had their honeymoon there, my first trip ANYWHERE was to DL and then pretty much any major trip since has been to WDW. I consider it my second hometown...so yeah, I was definitely born in love with the Mouse :earsgirl:

Like the OP, I didn't become a disneyholic on my first trip. Actually, I remember standing at the airport listening to everyone else in my family raving about how great it was, while I thought "OK, now I can say I've been there." I became a disneyholic more gradually, about 7 years and 3 trips it took. And it just seems to get worse and worse (or more acurately, better and better) all the time.

I am second generation, Disneyholic :goodvibes also!!! We went in the mid 70's the first time. We all loved it! Took a big family trip in 1985, when I was 25 and I loved it once again.

Then, I had a long drought during which I had my two DS and years later divorced. Then, I met my prince charming, a man already in love with Disney  We planned a vacation there in 1998 and he said, can we make it our honeymoon? Our minister and his wife were Disneyholics too and said why can't we come? We'll marry you down there!!! So....we eloped and married on the beach at CBR. Our guests were two ducks and an egret :teeth:

That is when we became true Disney freaks. Now, we own DVC too so I can see many Disney trips in our future :wizard: ;) Also, after we bought DVC, my DM and DF bought DVC also and we are sharing points this October for a trip in an OKW grand villa :grouphug: What could possibly be better than this :cloud9:

When DW and I moved to Miami in '77 she had to force me to go to WDW for a weekend trip(I loved Disney but felt that WDW would be a cheap imitation of DLR). I couldn't believe how wonderful it was. There was only MK and the shopping village (now DTD) but we had the best time. On each subsequent trip throughout 78 and 79 I became more addicted to the magic. We moved away from South Florida in late 79, but have made many trips back to WDW in the past 26 years. Of course when DD became a CM, we made several trips in a very short period of time :earsboy:

According to my parents, I have loved WDW since the first trip (I don't really remember the first couple trips), but I would say I became a Disneyholic after our Spring Break trip in 1990 when I was 12. Ever since then I have tried to come up with ways to get back there.

I have never been to Disneyland, but I have visited Disneyland Paris, and I'd like to see all of the Disney theme parks someday...but Walt Disney World will always be my first love.

I went to the Magic Kingdom when I was 16. I was hooked! I talked my dad into going every year after that. Then when I married I talked my non Disney husband into going there for our honeymoon. We are both now Disneyholics  and so are the kids. :wizard:

I visited WDW once years ago with my family. I did not think about WDW until my parents planned a trip for my sisters, their boyfriends, my wife and I with mandatory attendance by all. At the time, I was actually more worried about spending the vacation days than the fun I would have. My wife was pregnant at the time of the trip. I believe it was the second day at the parks that my wife and I decided we would have to come back when she was not pregnant to see do everything. We even felt our daughter kick for the first time while staying at All Star Movies. As they say, the rest is history and we continue to go 2-3 times a year. We enjoy it as a great escape from reality and enjoy every minute of everything. The mood of the guests and CM's, the cleanliness of the parks/resorts, the shows, the rides EVERYTHING. I usually am in the process of planning the next trip before we leave for the most current one. DD, who is very young, has already decided she is going to work with the dolphins at Sea World, which will work great since my wife and I will retire about the time she graduates high school and plan on moving to florida and working at WDW. I still don't know what I want to do: mow grass landscaping etc at the resorts or the parks or drive bus. With any luck, my wife will want to work at Universal or one of the airlines for some additional savings on our other favorite adventures.

When I first went to WDW, it was early 1980 and I was 2 1/2 years old. I apparently had such an amazing time riding Cinderella's Carrousel all day (my poor parents!) that I literally wore the polka dots off of my shorts. The Blue Fairy also blew me a kiss during the parade - a HUGE deal!!

I (and the rest of my family, to a lesser extent) have been certifiable ever since. And thank goodness I married another Disney-holic - life is good!!!

And now we've become AP members for the 1st time (how will we ever give them up), and am dreaming of DVC....

So glad there are others like me!!! :disrocks:

My mom use to tell me all about the trip they took with my brother before I was born....and I think I started to love it then, even if it was just the idea of it. When I finally got to go at age 9, I was hooked forever! It was everything I dreamed of and more.

When did I become a disneyholic???? Hmmm...

I think it was right after "our" first trip. I have always LOVED WDW, yes, but never "needed" it to survive like air. After the 2001 trip, DH and I have only discussed our need to go to WDW. Sure we talk about other places we would like to visit one day, but why does it seem like Disney is our only actual Vacation Destination? Maybe because it isn't like going on vacation, but going HOME!

I, too, was blessed to marry a man who appreciated WDW as much as I do. The pixie dust was flowing the day we married I guess :wizard:

We throughly enjoy "child-less" days in WDW now, but can't wait until we share and make new memories when we have children of our own.

I went in 1989 with my first husband but didn't have a great time. He was too much of a control freak and we stayed off property.
In 1999 I talked my new hubby into taking a trip to WDW with the cruise. He didn't want to go because he had a bad experience with his ex too! We had the BEST time and I am sooo addicted now. Mickey has taken over our house, and every morning I read disboards while listing to Mouseworld radio! I wish we had the money to go more often but can only afford to go once a year/year and a half.

I grew up in the 70's watching wonderful world of disney-my grandpa would call and tell me what was on .....so I was in grade school. My grandpa saved up and took me to Walt Disney World in jr.high we rode the bus!!! from the midwest.....trip#1......and so it goes... :earsgirl:
