Disneyfied! Two sisters return to WDW after 21 years. [micro mini update 11/30 p. 14]

Hey there! Loving it so far!

Especially those Sears outfits... I think I might have own one (or two) (or all) of them back in the day! And to think parts of those 80s styles are back... :scared1:

Can't wait for more!

Very nice, bring it on.

Anxious to hear more...

Nice start!!! I'm def along for the ride!

You're cracking me up!

Can't wait for more!

Very nice, bring it on.

Thank you! I hope to have time to post another update tonight! I warn you that the trip report might take a wee turn toward the sentimental.

Thanks! The thing that scares me is that we wore them unironically. I think kids today have a sense of humor about these clothes, or maybe I just hope that's the case. I know that if I was 20, I would totally buy these Reeboks that I saw at the mall the other night. They are hilariously great!

Was rooted over to your trip report from Lucrkyloo's....I have to say that i had a pair of those Reebok's but they were in pepto pink in the 80's HA HA HA HA HA HA :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Ooh, very nice!!!:lmao: Perfect for walking around Disney in Minnie Mouse ears!

Oh, I had those in bright blue. I should have kept them!!!

Great report, I am looking forward to you and your sister actually getting to WDW. :goodvibes

I say that if people can walk around Disney World in lime green crocs, then I can get away with wearing these on my next trip. ;)

I'm so in! Can you say "spew" on the Dis??? :lmao: :lmao: I TOTALLY had a couple pair of those Reeboks. I had a black pair that I wore with big scrunchy socks. Totally awesome, fer sure man!:rotfl: I too didn't like SEARS back in the day. My grandma would take me there and I would be just mortified. I think our parents took us there, and I know my grandma did, because they had credit cards for that store. There weren't many dept stores back in the day that had cc's. I have found rockin cute shoes there in the last couple of years and some cute clothes for my DD.

Scrunchy socks!!! Ha ha. I forgot about those. Don't forget to wear your stirrup pants with them! I think the charge card is why we shopped there too, though I know my parents also had cards at other places. It must have been the rates, or maybe my dad just wanted to torture me. They do have a lot nicer things now. My sister loved the swimsuit I bought there and was shocked that I found it at Sears.

Hi,
Just found your tr through Lessa'a.

Great start so far.

Thanks! I've lurked on your reports in the past, and always enjoyed them. Thanks for coming to mine.

Next update coming in a few.

When I last left you I was in a fitful sleep, with my alarm set for 4:00 in the morning. My sister and I agreed that we would call each other immediately when we woke up to avoid any sleeping through the alarm drama. I woke up and called her and she let me know that our flight was delayed. It looked like we wouldn’t make our connection in Miami. I’m cursed when it comes to airplane travel, so this didn’t shock me. We decided to just proceed to the airport anyway and would figure it out when we got there.

She picked me up, and after a quick stop back at her place to make sure she unplugged the iron, we were on our way. My confused navigating brought us to an Air Force Reserve station. Whoops. Luckily the guards didn’t think we were terrorists and we made our exit and eventually got to the park and fly place. The shuttle picked us up immediately and then we were on our way. I used the short trip to the terminal to look up alternate flights on my phone. We prepared ourselves with some options and then got to the airport and made the humiliating trip through security. There’s something pathetic, but equalizing about seeing a horde of sleepy travelers trudging along in their bestockinged feet, clutching baggies of liquids and gels.

On our way to the gate, we saw one of the TV network political commentators. I almost bumped into him while trying to do the polite Minnesota thing and pretending not to see him. He must have been in town scoping things out before the RNC. At the gate, we walked up to the podium and talked with the gate agent about our connection dilemma. He was a bit grumpy at first, but we smiled and got him to put us on the flight through Chicago. Exit row seats all of the way. Woo hoo! I’m glad we just had carry-ons, because it made the whole flight switching thing less fraught with dramatic tension. This also saved us when our return trip was messed up by good old Hurricane Fay.

After some coffee and yummy breakfast treats from French Meadow, we were on our way. The flight and layover at O’Hare were uneventful. Soon we were on the plane again and on our way to see the Mouse! I got a bit giddy when I first glimpsed a swimming pool over Orlando. Once we landed, we entered the swampy, under reconstruction terminal and hopped on our first ride of the trip, the monorail.

The wait for the Mears shuttle was a bit painful. We watched in envy as Magical Express after Magical Express carried vacationers off to their pixie dusted holidays. 45 minutes later our buzzer went off and we boarded the van. The van was packed full of people, but the air conditioning was in full force and the driver very friendly. The first stop was the Dolphin, our hotel. At the check-in desk, my sister gave them the reservation information and a voice of an angel said, “You have a balcony room with a lake view”. I had convinced myself that we were going to end up posting on the worst room views thread with a view similar to this one (poor TaraPA), so this was especially exciting! A room with a view (no Mr. Emerson though) and a balcony! He handed over a stack of Disney brochures and pointed the way to the Disney ticket counter (which closes at 5:30).

We purchased our 4 day passes and headed up to our room to unload our bags and change. Once in our room, we ran over and slid open the balcony door to see our view. Not only did we have a view of the lake, but we could see the Tower of Terror, Mickey’s sorcerer hat, and the very top of the Great Movie Ride’s Grauman’s theatre facade off in the distance.

I snapped a few photos, and maybe had a wee bounce on the heavenly bed.

After a quick fluff and buff, we headed to the first park of the trip, Epcot! I’ll talk about our fun evening there in my next update. Thanks for reading!

that is great the location of the room you got.

great update and pics.

Political junkies want to know????

Way to go on the flight switch & and room with a view :woohoo:

:woohoo: For the good room view and the fixed flights.

It was a great day! I was pleased with how quickly AA solved our problem, and then so happy with the Dolphin for giving us such a wonderful room!

that is great the location of the room you got.

great update and pics.

Thank you! The balcony was such a treat.

I'm a political junkie too, but shamefully, I cannot cannot remember his name/network. Are there any political junkie sites that show all of the network rosters?

We also debated between WDW and DC for vacation this year. WDW won out. I have always wanted to take the family. My DD14 really wanted to go to DC. Hopefully we will make it next year but if it were up to me it would be WDW ;) .

I like your old Disney pictures.

I can't blame you for choosing WDW :), but you have to go to DC sometime with the family. It's such a great travel destination. I have equally fond memories of our big family trip there, as I do of our Disney trips. It's a great city, and one I love to visit again and again. My favorite museum, the National Museum of American History reopens after a big renovation project on November 21. If you're interested in that sort of thing, they've started up a blog where they're talking about their renovation and their collections.

Nice update! Beautiful view!

"fluff & buff" cracked me up!

Thanks! I want to go back and get that same view, or maybe one of Epcot!
