DisneyEverAfter's Escape 5/8/12 SBP/Fultons/Japan ~ TR put on hold...

Oops I am a little behind. Sorry!

Your wedding dress is GORGEOUS! I looove the back. It's beautiful. And you look beautiful IN it, so stop wishing you weighed less. :)

Your programs are also oh-so-pretty.

Not gonna lie, that funfetti cake looks AMAZING! I want some in my tummy!

Thank you! I heart my dress! & thanks, but it's so frustrating that all the medicine I've been taking for the past 4 years has made me gain so much weight =< SAD FACE.. I've lost 35 pounds so far though =)

The cake was DELISH xD The frosting was something like pudding :rotfl: Diana can make me cakes any day ;)

Your dress looks great on you! The detail in the back is very pretty!! Enjoy the last few weeks of the planning process!!

Thank you! I'm getting super excited :D Still have a few little last minute projects to finish!

Thank you!! I'm getting super excited!

How fun would that be?! Would we get in trouble if we all met up for MNSSHP? And wore our dresses? :lmao: We could be pretty pretty princesses...! That's a costume, right?! (technically)

I'm super excited for my braid! I had gotten it about year ago but love to look at it xD So I think I want my hair half-up with some sort of fancy braid like that & the other half in long flow-y curls ;) But there aren't many pictures with intricate braid details for weddings... =( So I still have to decide 100% on how I want it...

:rotfl: That'd be so awesome!

I still have no idea what I'm doing with my hair. I do like braids, but I like curls, too, especially since my hair never has them. But definitely not all up, since I don't like how I look then. *sigh* At least there's still two weeks to figure something out!

And I'm right there with you on the medicine weight gain. *shakes an angry fist at the Lyrica*

I think we have the same dilemma! D: I <3 updos, but I look like my brother with my hair pulled back :rotfl: Plus I had my heart set on long curls so I can be a princess :lovestruc So I am combining them xD

Ditto! *Shakes fist at Remron & Zoloft!* D< I used them to help control my stress migraines (since typical meds didn't work for migraines) and in the process gained a ridiculous amount of weight... Luckily when I got off Zoloft I lost 20lb and then when I started to get my stress related IBS exacerbation I went on Celexa (recently).. :confused3 I was anticipating gaining weight since it's an antidepressant, but Celexa actually suppresses my appetite! So I lost 35 lbs or so so far in total! Woot-woot~ lol

So, I feel like my hairline is very uneven, so if I know there are going to be photos involved, my hair just can't be up. I really need to start looking at hair pictures; maybe tomorrow. ;)

Ugh, I totally feel your pain on the migraines. I was on Topomax for a while, which at least got rid of the daily headaches and twice a week migraines. But the neurologist thinks it's causing my problems with words. (Forgetting where I'm going mid-sentence, losing words when I know I know them, etc.) I was really hoping, since one of the big side affects is a metallic taste in the mouth and loss of appetite. Kristen didn't get any of those side affects, dammit!

35 pounds is awesome! And you do look fabulous in that dress :goodvibes

Ok, totally randomly jumping in here. My best friend has seizures and was on Topomax...but she got so completely airheaded and mean at the same time! We called the medicine Dope-a max! And she had the same problem with the forgetting of the words! She switched medicines after a couple of months and everything went back to normal

That's aweful! I wasn't on Topamax, I tried Imitrex and Treximet with no success... I knew it was stress related and my dr agreed so we tried an antidepressant to see if it would help any and it actually did.. but the Topamax sounds aweful! I was having loss of words, but that's because my head was pounding =P :rotfl: Dope-a-max bahahaha

Dope-a-max! :rotfl2: It's been just over a week without it, and I DO feel a bit less foggy. Here's hoping that the feeling continues! :goodvibes

I just had the best surprise bridal shower ever! I didn't think I would have one because we're doing a destination wedding and only about 10 people were invited.. But I guess FMIL (crafty goddess, for the win) wanted to do something special for us so she threw us a surprise shower! A couple friends came down & all of DF's side of the family came and it was really, really sweet. I love every moment of it and all the little details FMIL gave to the surprise =) I'm really lucky to have an awesome family! I'll post pics & more details later, just needed to let my happiness out! :goodvibes

Man, oh man.... More surprises! So for about 2 months Nyx had been telling me to not work on Saturday 4/21.. I figured he'd been planning a concert or visit to NYC, but within the weeks and days leading up to it I kept bothering him about what we were doing because he refused to tell me... SO! The day of Nyx told me to wear something "nice", so I put on khakis and a plain black shirt (somehow my definition of nice lol) and off we went in his car. We drove and drove & I kept bothering him on where we were going. So he finally gave up and about 20 minutes of driving he says "Open the glove box, the envelope is yours." So I open the glove box, open the envelope and this is what I see:

A bridal shower invitation! I wasn't planning on having one for either side of the family because of the fact we're having a super small destination wedding (and no one was invited basically...), but FMIL had other plans! Later I found out she had made those invitations & envelopes completely from scratch (she's amazing)! Nyx said we couldn't go back to the house (since we live right across the street from his parents which if we stayed in our house I would have noticed all the cars) until about 1:30. So we went to a park where his cousin got married a year ago--that was such a beautiful park! I love going there.

IMG_0147.jpg

IMG_0149.jpg

IMG_0155.jpg

So after about half an hour of walking around on the grounds of the park it was time for us to start heading home to get there for around 1:30. I was super excited & Nyx & I started talking about who would be there & what would be happening. Nyx said he didn't know much except the fact that he invited 5 friends of our to come (Our friend Amanda from upstate NY and our other friends Amanda, Jess, Erin, and Wini we went to school with). In the end everyone but Erin came (she just started on nights & just couldn't stay awake to drive up from Staten Island, poor thing!).

I had so much fun though! I have too many pics for one post so I have to divide it into 2, but we played a wedding game thinger, ate snacks & other foods, I opened gifts, & mingled, and everything was just so fun! I had a great time. I'll post Part Two later with pics!!

Part II!

So once I got there everyone was inside and suddenly as we were walking up the stairs to the house DF's mom closed the door in our face! :rotfl: BUT she goes, "You needed to see the sign I made!" (which I will not show because I am in love with it & we are using it for the wedding pics, so I want to surprise all you girls here! Y'know, don't want to ruin the surprise...lol) & Nyx's little 5 y.o. cousin was told that they had to be quiet to surprise me, so after I got inside I was like, "Oh my gosh! Hi everyone!" and kind of squeeling and then like over a minute later Colin comes out and goes, "SURPRISE!" & gives me a hug :lmao: A little late, but I wasn't expecting him to be there, so he's the one who surprised me the most! Hahaha Another awesome surprise was Nyx's cousin Jesse's little boy~she just had a baby a month ago and he was soooo adorable! The little peanut d'aaaaaaw :goodvibes

So I said hi to everyone & migled, and we all moved into the dining room area. There was sorbet fruit punch (DELISH! I must have had like 10 cups of this stuff!), wedding chex mix (wish I had some, boo), salad, mini lasagna cupcakes, fruit kabobs, mini sandwiches, cake pops, oreo cheesecake squares, & other random goodies & everything was so good! Of course we got the leftovers =P

My friend's random collage:

The sticks from the cake pops--please excuse the bottled water:

After eating, we played this game.. There were 3 boxes for prizes. Now, there was this story that FMIL read that had a bunch of "left" and "rights" in it-- so when she said "RIGHT" you pass the present to the right and when she says "LEFT" you pass it to the left & it goes really fast. It was really hard!!!!! Whoever is ends up with the box in the end of the story wins it and I ended up winning on of the boxes--hooray! My gift:

A cool box with a Dunkin Donuts gift card! Yay! (of course FMIL made the box) & I forget what the other gifts were.
IMG_0171.jpg

After the game we headed back into the living room to open gifts. LOVE all my gifts & so thankful for a wonderful family! We got a lot of kitchenware (amusing to me because I don't really cook, Nyx does all the cookin ) & we got some nice plates & new towels, etc. Typical stuff.

I am just in love with all the decorations FMIL did for the party!!!

Flags made from scratch:

Centerpieces to the tables~paper flowers!

FMIL has a chalkboard wall in their kitchen-ish area:

Poms made from COFFEE FILTERS:
IMG_0161.jpg

Cool fans made from patterned paper:
IMG_0165.jpg

Our wall of pictures! Which is now hanging in our bedroom:
IMG_0162.jpg

Our story! Kinda an inside joke-- the house we moved into (across the street from his parents) is VERY crooked... The house is really old... So one day his grandmother started quoting this "crooked" poem, so FMIL found the poem and put it under her glass at the party!

IMG_0217.jpg

THE BEST DECORATION YET--My very own doorknob bouquet! I'm very into vintage/Victorian/steampunk-esque style things and so is FMIL, so she made me a doorknob bouquet!

My bouquet in a million views:

The end has a key! & guess what that metal thing is on the end------a peep hole! This woman thinks of random but awesome things!

Okay, well, I'm going to need a 3rd post because I have too many pics... lol

OMG!!! Everything is so cute, your MIL is very talented. I'm pretty crafty but she totally puts me to shame. I also like the doorknob bouquet (also a huge fan of vintage; if you're into vintage/vintage inspire clothing try modcloth.com). Are you going to carry that for your wedding!?!? When I saw it I instantly thought of Alice in Wonderland. Second favorite was the paper flowers and the pom poms. I think your MIL could be a party planner!!

I am so glad you had a good time at your shower, I can't wait to see more pictures.

Attempting to update with part III! I adore her... I <3 Modcloth! I want to use the bouquet for pics for the wedding but it's REALLY heavy and I don't think I'm going to bring it with us =( BUT it will last a lifetime xD There are always anniversary pics one day  I just love everything she made for the party! She should really be a planner, but her problem is she is a perfectionist and needs to take a million years to make everything D; And she never likes to make the same things twice =< SO when she makes it you know it's a "one of a kind" :goodvibes She made a few disney purses on etsy but refuses to make more than 1 of the same xD

We are just to lucky to have a wonderful supportive family. I love all the gifts we got and I feel bad that we didn't have a registry! But it turned out good because we got a lot of kitchen stuff and our other kitchen stuff was all hand-me-downs and thrift store finds, so it's nice to have really good cookware and plates, etc. that are "our own" :goodvibes

The last part of it was our awesome gifts from my future in-laws.. FSIL gave us a scrapbook for the wedding and a Disney gift card for WAY more money than we would have ever expected! We are so grateful!!! and my FIL's gave us a zillion things from them:

Mickey & Minnie ornament! 2012 painted on by FMIL:

Tshirt!

Our new cake eating forks =P LOVE THEM (from etsy)

Our new pillowcases that FMIL embroidered-- "<3 Love You....Love You Too <3" Adorable...! Don't know how good they'll show up though

IMG_0193.jpg

IMG_0190.jpg

After all the gift opening people started to leave.... We all got gifts! FMIL made them from scratch (obviously lol if you couldn't guess by now!) Nyx & I love to read so our favors were book marks!

Unopened:

What was inside:
IMG_0199.jpg

IMG_0198.jpg

IMG_0196.jpg

I love it! She managed to incorporate all the stuff we like in an elegant way (gears/steampunk, vintage, clocks, books, etc) Everyone loved the favors! My friend Jess said to Nyx's mom, "I love to coordinate my bookmarks with the color of the book and you have no idea this bookmark matches my latest book perfectly!" She's also a little crazy though.... hahaha

Well, hope I entertained all you ladies with my lovely surprise wedding shower!!! I generally don't like showers  But I think mine was so small and intimate that I had a wonderful time! It was only Nyx's side of the family because after the wedding my mom is throwing us some type of BBQ congrats-type party with my side of the family. It's not that our sides of the family don't like each other (for those of you who are wondering why we're doing things separate) it's just his family lives in NY and mine is in central CT--about a 2 hours' ride. Also a reason we decided to elope because (of my family mostly) they were bothering me about doing stuff in CT and not in NY, so screw all of y'all, we're eloping! :lmao:

Oh man! forgot to add our Blessing Wings! Made from an old book (along with the paper flowers)! How can I forget these?! It's super delicate, but I couldn't love it more~
