Here's my advice:

1) Alterations: Call you dress shop. Explain your situation, see what they say. They WILL work with you.

2)Shoes, ring, etc: Give yourself a deadline to have this done by and stick to it. Do research, then when your deadline approaches, make a decision. Don't look back, it will be fine.

3) DF clothes: DELEGATE: Tell him what he needs to do and when he needs it done by. Force him to make decisions.

3) Photography: You're an escape bride, so photography is included, so worst case scenario, you still have pictures. If you want a second photographer, CALL them and ask for their availability (if possible). Email is wonderful, but a phone call is more efficient.

4)Officient: Make a top 3 list of officents (there are a lot of people who can make good recommendations here). Call in order of priority. If your first chose is not available at your date/time, move on to the next.


You got this. You can do it! No matter what, your wedding will be absolutely magical.
5) Beaute Speciale is one of the top reccommended stylists on the site. Patricia Legune is a close second. Call them. See if they will work for you.

Just joining in! Don't worry about getting everything done. For me, sitting down and making a list of everything I need to do really helps. (The Escape list in the Passporter book is really good, too) I know this can stress some people out but better to have a list of exactly what needs to be done than to miss things along the way. Just have fun with it!

I am getting married on 5/5, have yet to have any alterations or set up my alterations appointment... my shop told me I need to make it within a month or so. No worries!! I have to find my shoes to start my alterations currently...

Haven't looked at rings yet either!

We do have a photographer, and hair & makeup booked- we're using Beaute Special and we're bringing our photographer with us from CT. I think you're good to go!

DF and all the GM are getting their suits from Carolyn Allen's. I highly suggest this. You can email them and tell them what kind you want, they will write you back within 24 hrs, send you links to suggestions, all he has to do is fill out a form with his measurements and send it back with 50% deposit- they will deliver the suit to him at your hotel. Again, easy breasy.

You can totally do this!

SO! Last time I posted updates I still hadn't heard from a planner and was really frustrated that it had been almost 2 weeks since Disney took our money. Well, the next morning our planner Danny called us to introduce himself and tell us a bit about how things worked (although I already knew everything he told us =P). So then I felt like I asked the questions I needed answers to so then I got on the road to planning! I probably contacted what felt like a million people

I bought my shoes Since I broke my toe I figured heels are out of the question =\ I was set on having cobalt blue shoes (my favorite color!) but couldn't find any decent looking ones in flats, but FMIL was at Target & saw these:

They are perfect! Flat sandals, cobalt blue, simple. Cost: $20 =P Even better...

For jewelry I wanted something that incorporated "classic" and "modern" and found THIS on etsy:

After those two purchases I felt on a roll & started contacting people. I booked Beaute Speciale for hair and makeup & sent out my contract on Saturday. My inspirations:

Makeup~ Classy, maybe with a pop of smokey eye

Hair~ LONG flow-y curls! I've been growing my hair out so I can have princess hair

After getting hair and makeup booked, I started emailing officiants. DF & I are very non-religious, but we want a spiritual-type of wedding. We originally decided on Ron Rosenzweig because he seemed non-secular, but he was booked (boo). He didn't get back to us until yesterday, so yesterday we contacted Rev. Tim Herring who on his website also does non-secular weddings, so I think we'll be okay =) Got his contract today & we'll be sending that out tomorrow!

And I booked my first fitting for my dress.. it's on Thursday the 15th so that's a start! I'm bringing my mom to the fitting. She didn't come with me to pick out my dress. I felt bad afterwards, but my mom is very overbearing at times =< So I didn't want to bring her to pick out a dress... I instead brought my 2 friends and my mom was beyond pissed, but I knew if I brought my mom she would pressure me into buying a dress I didn't like So I went without her. Yes I know what you're thinking.. I'm a horrible child... But she's definitely very excited that I want her to come with me to see it on me before the wedding and getting it altered. (Mind you my mom's the one who was trying to trick me into having a wedding at home instead of Disney, so hopefully you will understand why I didn't bring her for the dress)...

We're still trying to figure out photography, dinner plans (Fulton's Crab House vs. Raglan Road.. we want something different! But FSIL & I are picky eaters so we need to figure it out!), and whether or not we're gunna have a planned dessert party or just go and watch the fireworks sans dessert. It's all about the money!

I have a phone conversation with Danny tomorrow afternoon to talk about some more details, etc. so DF & I can mail our choices back to DFTW.

Last but not least, HAPPY BIRTHDAY NYX! Friday was DF's 24th birthday. We went to a place called Billy Joe's.. it sits on the Hudson River & DF loves it there... A little too excited for dinner:

You're not a horrible child at all. I did the exact same thing. My mom and I aren't close at all, and originally, I was going to keep the dress a surprise from everyone except my MoH. I caved and she went with me for the alterations; it made her happy. (And she said she'd pay for them, which made me happy )

Okay so after an almost-hour long chat with my planner, I've got almost everything figured out... Except the Epcot Dessert Party part

DF and I want one to surprise our family with a DP (yay!) that will make for a memorable finale to our wedding day. Danny gave us two options for our size group (since there will be ~10 of us): Morocco Oasis or Canada Overlook. After having him look into it, Morocco was taken for a DP on our day already (boo), so it basically leaves us with just Canada. After looking up piccies I don't really like it! There are a bunch of trees in the way and I have doubts it will make nice pictures with family...

After consulting & studying my handy-dandy PassPorter presents other options...
~Kazbah Point (Morocco)
~Parisian Point (France)
~Vikings Landing (Norway)
~Outpost Overlook (Africa)

Not sure I like any of these ideas either 100%... I would rather have seating, but the party's only about an hour + fireworks.. I LOVE the UK options but we're way under the minimum, anyone know if there's a small party fee if we go there and/or what that fee is?

Anyone PLEASE help us with ideas!

Should I spring for a Wishes DP instead at the GF? (We wouldn't be able to afford to chime in the music..) Thoughts?

So I had emailed our planner last night presenting my ideas for alternative spots for a Dessert Party in Epcot to view IllumiNations and he basically emailed back this morning saying that Escape brides are only able to use Canada (available) and Morocco (which is taken)... He then provided us with pictures of Canada & stated that there are trees, however as you near the railings, the canopies created by the trees become less dense and your will have a terrific view of those fireworks that are high. But I think it's that's crap! I want to be able to take pictures with me & DF and not have the pics incredibly close-up OR with stupid tree branches in the way.. I want a nice clear shot for us & the family to view. Pics he sent us (that pretty much makes MY case, not his):

Although it seems to be a nice view, it is definitely not one for pictures. Am I overreacting or do I have a point? I don't know whether I am being unreasonable....

It's your wedding and if you are not going to be happy with the trees and the possible photos because of that then don't shell out the money. Hopefully other people have had this location and can post some pics to give you an idea. Have you tried posting in the main wedding section?

I know a bunch of us that'll be down there... we could bump those numbers right up That's what I was going to have to do (long story) to get UK Lower if we would have kept the wedding in 2012.

I think you have a point about the trees and are NOT over-reacting!!! At all. I think you should do a SCP DP instead!! Just bring an ipod with the wishes music and sync it up! It might be slightly off, but no one will notice anyway.

Really?! The minimum is just $500 and you'd have a $75 setup fee. Whenever I priced out Illuminations, it was always more due to viewing fees and the venue fee. But I could be wrong!

My planner said it'd end up being more? I dunno... He said because we're a small group that we'd be paying more per person so it'd end up being more than an IllumiNations DP? Lol I dunno on that one.. But again if we had the audio it'd be +++$$$ =P We'll see his response tomorrow~

It's been a while since I posted, I've been busy with work! But wanted to send a quick update that I had my first dress fitting today!! My mom came with me to see the dress (since she wasn't there when I bought it) & happy to know that she likes the dress. My necklace also came in! beautiful~

Also figuring out the details of our DP! Having a chat with the wedding planner tomorrow tentatively, so I'll post all my major updates once I've got the DP figured out

I know! That's why I was getting so frustrated! I completely agree & actually updated the Escape Brides DP Options discussion I started on the main page, I'm just gunna copy & paste it here! It's not that we want a big venue or anything we just wish there were more options & we were disappointed with what they originally offered...

Just want to send an update on this DP issue for all you escape brides! In addition to Canada Overlook & Morocco Oasis (as in the original post), I brought up the usage of the other standing room venues in Epcot and our planner talked to Epcot's Banquet Team and they agreed we could use Vikings Landing in Norway--but the problem here is again some tree-blockage in the way. But that is an option I was given out of the ones we requested info on. Also, I was given the OK for Bonsai Terrace in Japan. Although not directly on the water, we are above the heads of everyone else, minimal trees in the way, and appears to be a prime viewing area! After googling pictures the view seems pretty good, although the giant Torii gate/decoration is somewhat in the way, I kind of like it (as we are into Asian architecture in general). So we booked Japan! I think it will be perfect as a closing to our wedding day. Another FYI we were told UK Pubside (which we were also hoping to get) is very hard to get & can only be obtained under specific circumstances, for anyone who is looking for info on it! Hope this will be able to help other small party brides like me

I just think no one should settle & always ask about options! I talk to my planner on Wednesday to talk about our BEO for our DP.

Hair Accessories???

As I can't sleep (stupid night shift), I have been researching what kind of hair accessory I want. I don't know if I'm going to have a veil. DF's mom has a veil from Micheal's clearance which might do that she bought ages ago, but I don't know if I really want one! Even if I wear the veil I still want some other hair bling, but the question is... WHAT kind do I want??? I'm leaning more towards a nice hair flower.. Also, I am working on our invitations. I'm doing them myself.. They are more for keepsakes than for actually inviting people (since we're just basically immediate family + 1 friend). So hopefully I can get a rough draft up tomorrow of what we want! I will also be making a simple wedding program, so I'll be busy tomorrow on my day off! If it's nice again outside tomorrow I'm gunna set up my hammock in the backyard & have fun!
