Disney100 Celebration Tour

Ok, so finally did the t

We returned at 3:30 for the parade. I was a bit skeptical up to this point. BUT, it turns out that they REALLY enforced the reserved area, which was MOST of the area directly across from the train station. That made a big difference. They gave us all a "cookie", it was really a brownie with icing, etc., a Disneyland fan (for the heat), and returned all our drawings to everyone.

Cruella came to the rope, and engaged in playful banter with us. THEN, the band came up, and began to play Cruella De Ville, which she danced along with. They band was fully engaged with the reserved area. They kept most of their focus on the area. After they left, they took the rope directly in front of us DOWN, and kept enforcing the reserved status of the area. The parade came through. Never have I had so much attention paid to us (tour guests) before. We had dancers/CMs come up and actually greet us, engage in light banter, etc.

Thanks for your report. So the moral of the story is, non tour guests should avoid sitting on the side opposite to the reserved seating. 😂

Unfortunately, we were disappointed in the tour. The guide didn’t talk while we were walking from place to place, so a lot of time was not used for much, and the information given at stops was fairly surface level. Quite a bit of time in the animation class, most of which we could have done on our own if we chose, and for a bio-break.

The reserved area was enforced, but much of it is in the full sun. They advised us to be there by 3:15, but the parade started at the other end of the park so it didn’t get to us until about 3:50. I wish we would have come closer to 3:30 because there was no trouble seeing. Unlike the report above, though, I don’t think the parade performers gave us any more attention than the people across the way (which was fine) — maybe because there were kids across the way?

My verdict: sadly not worth the time and money.

My family and I did the tour yesterday. I had never taken a Disney tour before this vacation. We took the Main Street tour on Tuesday and the 100th anniversary tour yesterday. We had a great guide who talked quite a bit about the park and happily answered questions. We drew Ursula for our animation lesson and I discovered that my drawing skills aren’t quite as horrible as I thought. I loved the parade viewing area. I think this is the first time I have ever had an unobstructed view of a parade. We were also given a large cookie and a large collectible pin.
We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and are very glad we paid extra for it.

Ok, so finally did the tour on Saturday, May 6th. I have some good things to report, and some not so good things to report.

We had our tour scheduled for 9:30am. We were a group of 7. There was also ANOTHER group of 7 at the same time. Our guide was energetic, and really excited to be there (you could see it in her mannerisms, and hear it in her voice).

The not so good:
While it was entertaining at times, there was a lot of crossover information between this tour, and the Walt's Main Street Tour. We began by walking over to DCA. We had a brief chat about the architecture, and then we moved to the Animation Academy.

They let us in the back way to the studio. We got to chat with the Animator for about 20 minutes before they let in the regular guests. He gave his drawing of Dumbo to one of the members of the tour. They collected all our drawings and said that they're return them to us a bit later in the day.

After the Academy, we went to Carthay, did a little listen here, and then were led to the bathrooms by the entrance and given a break, before heading back to MK park. From here, we were led to the theater on Main Street (for some reason the Opera House was closed). We chatted briefly, and then were led to the hub. We criss-crossed back and forth between the entrances to each section of the park, getting some brief info about each area.

We finished at the HUB, by having a Photopass photographer take our pics in front of the castle (for the most part). The photographer was friendly and took her time with all of us. We were then instructed to meet in front of the flag pole at 3:30 for the parade. We were given a Mickey100 pin (with a double pin back).

The good:

The tour guide was VERY attentive. Every thing that was asked of her, she went out of her way to address/complete.

It really made up for the rest of the tour, which I think needs to be changed up a bit more, to REALLY differentiate it more from Walt's Main Street tour.

So, would I do it again? Yes.
We did the tour on June 14th and I had to look at your date because this was almost exactly our experience minus 2 things - not hot that day (no fan) and we drew Kuzco. But the Cruella part was spot on - she was one of my favorite parts of that tour/day. She WAS the show. She made it a point to come back over to tell us "I told you so" that she was the main event, the star of the parade. We loved her, and we love the marching band so the two together were perfect!

It’s really hard to choose because they were both so different. The 100th anniversary tour was longer and more informative, but on the Main Street tour we got to go into Walt’s apartment over the firehouse which is a unique experience. If you have to choose between the two I would say take the Main Street tour if you want to do something that is unique to that tour. (I think that is the only way to see the apartment, but not 100 percent sure.) If you want more history and a great viewing spot for the parade, take the 100th anniversary tour.
