Disney YES Program Open to non-groups

YEAH! Thanks! We just got tickets to the Kingdom Keepers talk. I'd never heard of these books before, but I love that the program is about literacy. I think I'll get the books and read them with my son before our trip. Awesome! I was looking for the January days to open up...I was debating whether to just get the free dining package, but this sealed the deal for us. Thanks!

Anyone doing the YES program the week of November 14th? Trying to help a homeschool family join a group that week. Please PM me if you can accommodate additional members for that week.
Thank you!

I don't see any Feb dates?

If you click on the link it tells about the program on Jan 26th...however if you continue on to "purchase tickets" it will ask you for your zip code ...then the next page you can either click on group or individual enrollment. When I clicked on individual enrollment it has a list of classes including early Feb.

The whole thing is a little confusing...not sure why they did it this way...but it is similar to they way they did some of the programs for Oct. through Homeschool Days.

Hmmm...so Homeschool Days has definitely been announced for January 2012. That's great! I wonder if they'll be doing YES individual enrollment too? We could attend the Ridley Pearson presentation, but we'd have to completely change our dates, and that would mean changing all our ADRs and everything. We were planning on going February 1-8.

For anyone who has done the Homeschool Days presentation, vs. a YES class...how long is the presentation usually? I know the regular classes are around 3 hours long; is the presentation about the same?

DD would love to do the Quest (from what I'm reading, it sounds like you are given the materials necessary to do the Kingdom Keepers Quest, but instead of being with a group, you're on your own). I'm not sure if it's worth completely redoing our entire trip though. :headache:

Has anyone here done the Kingdom Keepers Quest before? It's fairly new, right? It would be great to get a review or two before deciding! :goodvibes

I spoke with Nicole at Disney youth and was told no plans to have any Individual Enrollment classes (non homeschool) until May 2012. Anyone hear anything different?

I think it says the presentation is 1 hr long. I would call them...I'm pretty sure you can just sign up for one of the regular classes and possibly the Kingdom Keepers Quest without actually doing the presentation. When we signed up for a class (Animation Magic) in Oct. through Home School Days we didn't need to do the presentation that they were offering...though you will have to pay an extra fee (ours was $28) for the class in addition to the ticket package.

Wish we were going in Jan. My DS would probably enjoy the author presentation and Kingdom Keepers Quest...heck I think I would enjoy it too. Maybe we'll have to plan another trip. :)

Thank you. When I clicked through the registration, the presentation was already checked and it wouldn't allow me to uncheck it. I think we would enjoy it though, so I don't mind attending. I just can't decide if I want to change my dates.

Ok, I went through the registration again, without actually completing it. I think you must not be required to attend the presentation, even though the box is pre-selected for you. On the next page, after you select the program you want to attend, where you check the boxes next to the names of those attending, I just left all the boxes for the presentation blank. I checked our boxes for the program we selected, and it allowed me to go through to the payment page.

That's probably what Thumperj9 was trying to tell me in the first place, lol. Not being able to un-check that darn box was confusing me. :rotfl:

My son has read all the Kingdom Keepers books, and they are great! You won't be dissapointed.:thumbsup2

I just found out about this program and it sounds like something worth looking into for our family. I have a few questions: Would you still get Free Dining if it were offered in the timeframe for your trip? Would you have to purchase a vacation package, or could you do room only? Thanks for any help.

Dd 12 will be there the week of march 11-16. Any chance they will add March dates or have individual openings for groups already scheduled?

You have to buy at least a 2 day ticket to get free dining, so it would probably kill any savings you'd see. Of course, you could save the 2 day tickets for another trip and save later. I think any vacation package included tickets, so room only would be the way to go. We stay offsite, get the discount tickets and use all the money we save for food and souvenirs. Others just do room only and pay OOP for food.

DD12 and I are leaving in 5 days  I decided to skip the free dining, so that we could do a YES program and get our tickets through YES. I ended up pricing out different options, comparing them with a quote I had for free dining at Pop for the same time period. We ended up deciding to stay at the Swan for about the same price as I would have paid at Pop (including the YES tickets). We lost free dining and Magical Express, but the upgrade to a deluxe resort in the Epcot resort area was well worth it, IMHO! I found the great deal for Swan on Expedia, it was a package that included airfare.

HTH!

OK JUST BOOKEd homeschool days Feb ..but starts at 7:15AM.. and states i must stay in mk...but i have a baby ..what is there to do???picked prop. of motion??

what is there open not until 9...

P.S. you can not uncheck the homeschool class with the guest speaker..on 1/26..it adds him in their aleady..since we will not be there on 1/26 .they said to use the discount homeschool tix you MUST pay for 1 additional class....they can revoke the tix if you do not show up to scheduled class...we added the motion class and was worried how to pick up tix since we need them days before the class and the cm said np..just take your print out to the park or D.D. ..so thats additional $28 for class to the 7 day tix..

Hi! Does anyone have a rough guess of when the dates will be announced for fall home schoool days 2012? Hubby has to choose his vacation dates for next year in November and we would really like to go for homeschool days. I think it would be an awesome experience for the kids. If dates aren't announced before he has to schedule his vacations, we will just have to guess and if we are wrong, we will miss it.

Still going back and forth because free dining suits our needs. Honestly could end up doing FD, saving the tickets from that package for another time and still doing this just because it's an awesome oppurtunity.
