Disney YES Program Open to non-groups

I am trying to book the individual program for my grandson. I checked the site and they allow one adult per child to attend the program which is ok since my son will go with my grandson.
However there will be one additional adult in the group that needs tickets to the parks. How can I book him without booking the class? His last name is different than my son and grandson.
I did fill out the form and they accept the names but they are charging the 2nd adult for the class and he won't be attending.
I have an AP so I don't need any tickets and will be going to the park with ther 2nd adult while the others are at the class.
Did they change the rules so that only the people attending the class get the discounts on admission and not the family members who go on the trip with them?

Unless Im misunderstanding, the class is written into the price of the ticket.

Disney's Ocean Discoveries 24th of August is now showing as closed was getting worried we had done the wrong thing swapping out of the one on the 29th

I'm pretty sure you would not be able to do it through the online system. You *might* be able to add him by calling the YES office. Several previous posters have been able to make changes that I would have thought they couldn't. So, if the situation arises, give them a call, but have a back up plan just in case.

Now that I re-read your post, if you mean add him to the same class as an attendant, then I would think that would be pretty likely IF space is still available in the class. Less likely if you are just buying a ticket for him for the parks.

Again, call them directly.

I wondered about the ethics involved but on their site (not sure if I can post the link) it does state that they welcome non-homeschooling families and families from out of state, including Canada.

The email I received from the group's leader states, "Our group trips are for homeschooling families and their guests".

o.k. - I have searched the pages and can't find an answer to this question. I know the actual YES ticket is only valid for 14 days but - Has anyone had any luck in taking their YES tickets and had them upgraded to a no expiration ticket?
I know that you can take your regular tickets to the ticket window at any of the parks and have them upgraded to park hopper, water parks and more, add days etc... but I wondered if you could do that with a YES ticket.
We are going for a family trip in Oct and I was thinking about enrolling the kids in a class but the family is going back with a group from church to Orlando on a mission trip right after Christmas. I would love to have 1 day left on our tickets that we might could stay over an extra day and take in one park before coming back home. Just buying a 1 day park ticket is much too expensive for the 5 of us.

iteach7th, I've seen it mentioned a number of times on this thread that the YES tickets cannot be upgraded the way that regular tickets can.

Yep, I can tell you from EXPERIENCE that you cannot change these tickets AT ALL! A couple of years ago I got snowed in (we travel by train and train service to NC was cancelled) and we had to stay for 2 extra days. I couldn't upgrade at all. Last year I purchased the 10 day tickets even though we were staying for 8, just in case. Now from what I have seen here, the longest you can get is 8 day hoppers. Someone please correct me about the length if I am wrong, but I'm pretty flippin confident about the no changes thing.

I am sooo MAD I seen this on our K12 site a little while ago and forgot about it. Just went on to book the Ocean Discoveries and it is CLOSED! That is the only one we are going to be there for. The whole 10 days we are there, there was on 2 date for any program, Aug. 24th and 29th. Has Disney ever added more days or times for programs that sold out? My son is going to be so disappointed. This was the first time we would have ever done anything out side of homeschooling, that wasn't in our house.

Nope. They cannot be upgraded. It doesn't matter for your scenario, but they aren't only good for 14 days. They are valid from 7 days before your arrival date until 7 days after your departure date.

I am going with 3 people to the parks. 3 will be using YES tickets. 1 person will be going for 6 days and the other two for 4 days. I had read that theser tickets don't use finger scans and say Child on them even though adults can use them here is my question.
Can I buy 3-5 day tickets and have the 6 day person use the other two tickets for one day each and then the 3 of them will have 4 days left on each ticket?

The tickets are non transferable. Why not just buy what is necessary?

Since the YES tickets can be purchased for different numbers of days, you should be able to purchase 1x 6 day ticket and 2x 4 day tickets.

I think this is right. It doesn't say anywhere on their website that non-homeschoolers can do their trips. I think it's just for homeschooling families (and the people traveling with them).

They're doing a Space Camp trip in September. I think we're going to do that one, too. I always wanted to do that when I was younger!

I want to collect fastpasses while my kids are doing the YES program. They will be entering the park prior to opening. Can I stand at the turnstile and have them give me there now activated passes? Then when park opens I can go through the turnstile and collect fastpasses for our entire party?
