If my dh takes my 2 kids(to the same class) should I just ride the monorail around for awhile with my younger ds and then just enter the park as soon as it opens?

You could do whatever you wanted to until the park opened if you didn't want to go to the class.

We're driving down and staying off-site so I am just trying to come up with something I could do with my 4y.o. while we wait since we will drive over together. I would love to attend the class too but we can't do that since we have one who is too young to participate!;)

Gotcha, I missed with the younger DS part :) Since the other 2 get to do something special by taking a class could you do a special breakfast maybe?

What class and what Park will you be driving to?

Looks like it will be EPCOT!:goodvibes

You could have your husband drop you off at the boardwalk and then take the Friendship boat to Epcot or walk over once it opens. Or you could jump on the monorail to TTC then get on the resorts monorail to the Poly they have a great character breakfast at O'hana

When I called them the other day they said there would be nothing on Oct. 10th. However when I emailed them this is the response I got yesterday!

"Hi Tracey,

Thank you for your email! All of the programs for early October have been removed from the Individual Enrollment site, because they are actually a part of our Homeschool Days program. Once our Homeschool Days program is open to receiving registrations we will have these programs added back to the site.

Please note, that you do not have to be a home school family to participate in Homeschool Days. I have attached the flier for the program to this email.

If you have additional questions please let us know!

Now I really don't know what to do as my older ds will be homeschooling beginning in Sept. Not sure if I should hold out for the 10th or not???:confused3 What's interesting to me is that the person who emailed me back said you don't have to homeschooled to participate and when I open up the flier that was attached it only shows Oct. 3rd as homeschool days!

AND the plot thickens! I emailed them back saying:

"WOW!
Thank you very much for getting back to me so quickly! My oldest son will actually be homeschooling beginning in Sept. So if I understand correctly there will be other dates open other than Oct. 3rd(as listed on the flier) for this years Homeschool days?
I'm having such a difficult time trying to decide what to do! I'm afraid if I don't sign up for YES on Oct. 11th that maybe there won't be anything opening up on the 10th for us and then the 11th will be filled up(my children are interested in the Everyday Chemistry program or Wild by Nature). On the other hand my son could get credit for school if we participate in the Homeschool days program.

Do you have any idea when the dates will be released for early October? My kids are very excited about attending one of the programs!

Thank you so much for all your time!

"Hi Tracey,

Thank you for your email! We will be offering the YES: Individual Enrollment programs on dates surrounding the Homeschool Days event as an add-on to the Homeschool Days event ticket. So, you could do both Homeschool Days and the Individual Enrollment programs, if you are able to wait for the Homeschool Days registration site to launch. It typically launches 3 to 4 months prior to the event.

The list of add-on programs that I have for Homeschool Days is subject to change, but both programs you mentioned below are listed on it. The programs will be offered between September 30, 2011 and November 7, 2011. Unfortunately, we cannot post the programs to the website now, because if we do they will fill up before our home school days guests have a opportunity to register for them.

I hope that this information is helpful!

Trying to be patient is soooo difficult!

New question. TIA!!!
If our class is on the 11th but we want to go to a park on the 10th we can just show our bar code registration paper at the Will Call of that park to get our park tix. even though it's the day before our class, correct?

You give YES group a date range for your trip : what your expected 'arrival' date is and what you expect your departure date to be then YES will issue your park tickets dated from 1 week before what you stated as arrival date through 1 week after what you indicated will be your departure date (your class must take place between these 2 dates but the park tickets can be used anytime during those dates ; they do not have to be used on consecutive days & the tickets can be used both before and after your scheduled class date ie 5 day ticket you use a park ticket on Monday, next time you feel like going in to park is Wednesday, then Thursday is your class so you need to use a park ticket that day, then you decide you aren't going to park again until Sunday, etc.

Hope this helps. :)

How does this work with chaperones and parents. If I sign my 3 kids up would DH and I be able to go with them?

Can I add my question too?? (Hi Buddy! :wave2:) I have a 14 year old, do parents go with them to their classes?

AKA "stitch" over in the pond.

I'm not sure if you can, but you don't have to. I believe it's under 12 or 13 that needs to have a parent with them. For the older kids, you just need to check them in and stay in the same park.
We've got 4 kids doing classes. A 7 and 10 yr old in one class that starts at 8:30am and a 13 and 16 yr old in another class that starts at 7:30am. I'll be signing the 13 and 16 yr old in for their classes, then attending the class with the 7 and 10.

Yes, I think you can have one chaperone for each older kid- I was able to sign my husband up to go with my 16 yr old on one of her classes and I was able to sign my husband & I up to accompany both of our daughters (16 & 12) on a different class that they will be attending together.

I know there have been some changes in the last few months to the YES program. If anyone can help me with my situation below, I'd really appreciate it! :flower3: I've asked in the past but it seems like we don't have a "clear" policy around this.

How do we go as two adults with an only child? I understand from reading the different posts they've changed the policy to allow both parents to attend with an only child. When we registered months ago, it wouldn't let me choose two adults with only one child going. I even offered to "pay" for the extra $26? so we could both attend and it also wouldn't allow it. When I called and spoke to Ashley she told me for us to all three show up and it "shouldn't be a problem". I don't want us to be separated (if we can avoid it) and if they are strict on this, one of us will just stay back at our resort - but I'd love to know this up front!

Thoughts or suggestions? By the way, we're in the June 14th class in EPCOT at 8:45am (I'm doing this by memory from work). :)

Thanks,
Heather

Which park are you going to and how much time will you have?

if your park of the day is MK -- the 'Ohana character breakfast at the Poly is terrific for little ones, or you could book an early Crystal Palace breakfast and get in before the park opens (as early as 8:00 am); for free you can ride the monorail around the loop a couple of times (about 20 minutes to go all the way around on the resort monorail), go for a boat ride on either the WL/FW or GF/Poly boat, or stop at one of the resorts to let your little one play in the sand on the beach

Just wanted to pop inand thank everyone here for their help and suggestions! Have a fabulous friday!

Tracey,

I typed up a fairly long message to you yesterday and then it got lost in space and never posted. Grrr. I'll try to re-type it later this afternoon.

Just show up with both parents-in my opinion-that's what I would do.

We're in that class too! It will be me, my dd8, and my nephew 6. We will see you there!

With the individual YES program are there any discounts on room, meal vouchers, or any of the other perks of the regular group YES program?
Also, if you charge the cost on your Disney Visa do you still get six months free financing?

I do not know about the Visa question.

The YES tickets are completly seperate from hotel and dining programs. You can only buy the park tickets through the YES office. If there is a room only discount during your stay, you would also be eligible for it. A free dining discount during your stay is possible to use, but would take some very specific planning to make it work. And in most cases a room discount is a better deal.

In order to qualify for the Disney Visa 6 month free financing you have to book a WDW vacation package. The definition of a WDW vacation package is a room reservation with tickets attached. Because you're buying your tickets through the YES program, your tickets will not be attached to your room reservation so you will not have a package so no 6 month free financing.

The 6 month free financing isn't as great as it's cracked up to be when comparing to paying for a room only reservation.. You have to pay off package reservations at least 45 days before your trip so that's 1.5 months out. Then you really want to pay your balance off at least 1 month before its due just to be safe so that you won't incur any finance charges if there are any mistakes meaning your 6 months is really down to 3.5 months after your trip that you have to pay your balance. I personally like to pay mine off 2 billing cycles early to have time to recover from any mistakes (Chase has messed up how they've applied my payments in the past) so for me it's really 2.5 months after my trip that I pay it off. Room only reservations are paid for on arrival. That free financing deal isn't really a draw for me. I just use the DV so I can get my Reward Dollars.

You can take advantage of any public room only discounts. That what we have for our upcoming trip.

Just wondering if this could be done when u check in so u don't have to carry tickets and a room key. The less im able to lose the better! lol
