Disney YES Program Open to non-groups

Subbing here because we want to go to Orlando next year and do WDW AND US/IOA...this would help a lot! (Guess we'll need to plan on at least a 10 day stay though, to fit it all in...maybe BG too!)

I was wondering about that as well.

I can understand January and September because of the lower attendance, but couldn't figure out why they would offer them all summer long. :confused3

My kids would really like to do this next year, but I'd much rather visit FL in late April than August. I'm just not sure the experience is worth doing a summer/humid/hurricane trip.

I am new to hearing about this program and wondered when I received the response if Disney offered the program to GROUPS during the January-June blackout for non-groups?

Groups can schedule visits during this time. From what I have seen it seems March-May is a popular time for groups (scouts, cheerleaders, bands, etc)

Just a FYI. I emailed and asked about availability of the program in May 2012 and received this response: Thank you for your email. Generally, due to park capacities and other events happening at the Walt Disney World Theme Parks, we are unable to offer programs from February - June. Programs for 2012 should be announced in the fall. You have been added to the list and as dates become available, you will be one of the first to know.

Well that sucks :(

I hope there will an exception for next year ;).

Just fyi, this year (2011) there were Individual Enrollment classes in January and if I remember correctly during the first 2 weeks of February (but not during entire month of February).

hope this helps some, to give idea what early 2012 schedule can possibly be :)

Heads up for all those registered for Aug 22: Disney’s World of Physics: Energy and Waves--I just looked on the website and saw that the session for ages 12-17 is now Closed--so it will definitely not be cancelled because of low enrollment! :yay:

I have DD and my nephew (both age 13) signed up for this class, and DS and another nephew (both 11) signed up for the younger kids' physics session on the same day.

For anyone who was wondering about not showing up for classes--my nephews were really looking forward to attending the class at AK on Aug 23 but we got closed out of that one. I know that they would be really mad to hear about people who signed up for that class and then didn't attend because they couldn't wake up early enough.

:thumbsup2 that's great news now we just need the 8-11 age group to fill up:goodvibes

I totally agree about people not planning on showing up for the class on the 23rd because we also missed out on that :sad2: and we are now doing a split trip to do our second class it really makes me  to read people on here even suggesting not coming I would pay for the program on top of full price tickets for my kids to have this opportunity:banana:

:dance3: For those going to the Disney’s Ocean Discoveries on the 29th of August is is also now showing as Closed :dance3:

I want to sign up for one of these yes programs for my son, the how things move one, if anyone has any insight that would be helpful, I have a newly turned 5 year old, and was wondering if it would be fun for him.

Also What would happen if I signed up for the program say on July 20th, and used my 3 day ticket prior to that, or what if I just had no intention of going to the class at all, just to get the discount tickets. what could they do, call my phone.

I want to know if anyone has done this. do they send you a penalty fee bill.

There is a class for 5-8 year olds and I have heard that one (Things That Move) is fun.

I would think they would have the right to charge your credit card the difference between the YES tickets and the regular price. If I am not mistaken, you have to use a credit card to pay. At the very least, you would be black listed and not be able to use this program again. If people keep doing this, they may also make it where you cannot enter parks with tickets until you have completed the class, or they may just nix the program altogether. Let's not ruin it for everyone.

At this point there is no proof that the liars and cheaters are penalized. Unfortunately.

My first year using Open Enrollment was '10. The morning of the class my 5 year old woke up very nauseous. This particular class was before park opening so I did not call, but I took my 7 year old as planned and explained the problem, and I had no issues. I can't imagine that they will continue to be that generous, and they probably would have every right to charge you the difference. Looking back I realize how lucky I was and frankly I was concerned that the next year I might not be able to order.

No they aren't registering yet via phone either. I am waiting for Oct 17th !!! I was told they would be available to register early summer..I am thinking June.

This is the class I am waiting on also. Perhaps we will see you there :-)

How about you just not ruin it for everyone and actually follow through with your commitments?
I don't think you'll get many answers about what will happen if you intentionally skip the class, because the vast majority on this thread aren't interested in doing so.

I'm so excited about this possibility for August of 2012! My DS will be 9 and DD going on 4 (wish they had something for her too!) I would totally do the 5/5 because even if we don't use it all, it will be useful...we've never hopped before and I know DH and DS would love DQ for instance. We will also be doing all the other parks on that trip (we have US/IOA passes and will have the BG Platinum pass so that gets us into SW and Aquatica)...so I guess we'll figure on being there at least 10 days altogether! Now if I can just get a good room rate at the time, we would stay onsite too! :cool1:

The class options look really interesting. Wish I could take one too. ;)

Oh, I spoke with someone at Disney about YES Tuesday and she said that late August isn't as hot as July...? :confused3 I think that's most likely when we'll end up having to go.

Late August is surface of the sun hot.:rotfl: However.. it is also much lower crowds and that is why we go. We enjoyed it enough to go back at the same time this year so it's doable.

Sign up for the August 29th class.. we have to be almost full just with members on this thread:thumbsup2

Oh and you can go too.. One of us will be attending with dd at the very least. It will give you an option when signing up to sign up an adult to accompany the kids.

(sorry.. I just checked the August 29th class and it's full. There is still one on the 22nd though.. and another "Coming Soon" on the 6th of September.)

Yeah, that's what I figured about the heat. Thanks for the corroboration! ;) That's one of the reasons I want to have water park options. ;) Maybe DS could take two classes and DH and I could each accompany him to one.

Wish I COULD sign up for the August 27 one but we will have to be going NEXT year...I'm so tempted but it will make much more sense to wait. :sad2:

Sorry.. I meant the 29th! and it's full now apparently.
We'll come back and report how ours went so you can plan for next year:goodvibes

Is this a real question or are you just being rude/funny? If you want him to go that is one thing. But, if you are doing it just for tickets that is rude, wrong, against policy and just outright mean! As you can see from this thread some classes fill up quickly and people that actually want to go cannot. This "me" mentality is driving me crazy!!! What you do does affect others. They can stop this program all together because cheaters like you! (If you do indeed tend to cheat by getting the tickets and not going).

This may have been answered somewhere in this very LOOONNNGGG thread.

But, My DD8 would absolutely love one of these classes. She absolutely loves to learn and what's better than learning at one of her favorite places??

Anyway, we are going April 2012 and it looks like they do not offer individual enrollment then. Can a group be made up of Disers or does some documentation need to accompany the "group" making it an "official" group?

I emailed the Yes program but never heard back.

THanks.
