Disney Y.E.S. Program

has anyone been on the Animal Behavior class lately? Was it 3 hours long?

Did you child enjoy it? My DD is 10 and has been to similar classes at our hometown zoo and enjoyed them. So, I think she would like it but am wondering since she has had these other classes that it might just seem la little too basic for her and a basic repeat of what she has already experienced.

I am wondering the same thing, since I am looking into purchasing YES tickets for early Feb.

Also, were do you pick up the tickets? Do you have to go to a certain guest service window or can you go to any resort or guest service window to get them.

Has anyone bought the premium ticket? It says it includes waterpark but does not say if it is only one waterpark admission for the full length of the ticket or more than one.

My DD really wants to go to a waterpark but I have a feeling it will not be warm enough in Feb. So, I was not going to get it but wait until we are there.
Last I knew:
1}You get an email about 30 days before your trip
2)You can pick up tickets at any guest relations window. We went to Downtown Disney.
3)Premium includes admissions to waterparks, etc. equal to the number of days of your ticket. So a 3-day premium gets you 3 days in the parks, and 3 admissions to waterparks, etc.
4)The last I knew of, you can't upgrade YES tickets after purchase, so you'll pay full-price admission to a waterpark if you decide to go while you are there.

We have YES tickets for our January 20th trip. I got the email with ticket information on the 22nd of December. Because we're staying at the AKL, I plan to head to AK the day we arrive so I can pick up our tickets. Last year when we went, we stood in line for a good half hour at the MK to get our tickets. I'd rather have them in hand for our first park day. I'm still wondering whether we can link the tickets to the magic bands or not (or to our MDE account). It doesn't matter that much to me, just curious.

ETA: I just used the confirmation code I received in the December 22 email to link my tickets to MDE. So I can go ahead and use those tickets to make FP+ reservations.

Our trip isn't planned until October so I am hoping that they have the FP+ and MDE stuff ironed out by then. If you can't link your park ticket to your MDE until 30 days out, you are only getting half of your FP+ booking window (60 days). With the tiering at Epcot and the opening of FP+ to offsite guests, I think that the 30-day lag may severely limit our FP+ choices.

On another topic, is there a "watch" thread (or is this it?) for the release dates of the various classes? I know that it will be mid-summer for the October classes, but I still like to check the options:rolleyes1.

So if I use the mousesavers discount on undercover tourist, our tickets will cost about the same as YES and we will be able to change them. Am I the only one seeing this? Or are the prices coming up wrong? The student for the class is about $45 lower through YES, but the adult attending is more and the non-attendees are about the same.
That makes me sad, we did it one year, saved nearly $200 per person and it was fun. I'm not sure it was fun enough for the extra hassle and inability to upgrade or reschedule if something happened.

What bums me is that we are DVC members and we plan on going in October 2014 and May 2015 for a RunDisney event. It would be MUCH more affordable for us to get AP's but since you have to buy a 2-day ticket MINIMUM for the YES class, it negates any savings.

Both of our girls may want to attend the same class and if that is the case, we can get an AP for either DH or myself since we both can't go to the class anyways. If the girls want different classes, then DH and I will have to get our own YES tickets anyways.

The crazy thing is, our kids want to do the class and since it is not MORE expensive than buying regular tickets, I still see it as a great deal. This is our first experience so I can see how those who previously had a deep discount are upset by the price increase.

I agree this could be problematic, especially as the ability to book 60 days out becomes well known. I'd purchased and linked different tickets that I bought through undercover tourist before the YES classes became available. I was able to make FP+ reservations with those at 60 days. I did, because I wanted to make sure I had the FP that I wanted and didn't know if/when I'd be able to do it with the YES tickets. After I linked the YES tickets this morning, I reassigned the other passes to my one-year-old, who won't need the MB or park tickets to enter the park. That way, I don't have to worry about which passes are getting used when we enter the park (although I plan to just use the passes handed to me at GS if I can). I thought I might have to re-book the FP I'd already made, but they're still showing. Have no clue what would have happened if I'd reassigned the other passes before I added the YES tickets. Would they have just disappeared?

The good thing for those going sooner, rather than later, I rearranged a good portion of our FP+ this past weekend because I wanted to add Illuminations and Wishes. I had no trouble getting the times I wanted for everything. Again, this might not hold true in six months or a year when FP+ is completely rolled out.

I emailed the YES folks and asked for my confirmation number for MDE. They emailed it to me no problem. I entered it into MDE and it had me link each ticket to a family member who was already set up in MDE. This was at around 63 days before my trip. When I got to my 60 day mark I was able to book my FP+ for the duration of my trip.

With the YES classes taking place in the morning, obtaining afternoon/evening FP+ times is really important to minimize waiting in line. We used our FP+ selections for the park we would be in during the evening hours because the lines aren't too bad when the park first opens. We liked being able to schedule Soarin at 5pm and TT at 6pm, but with the "tiering", we can't do that anymore. Maybe we'll just do parks in the mornings and hang out at the resort in the afternoon instead of waiting in lines.

LOL, it never occurred to me to do that. Entirely too logical for me. Although I think I already had the tickets from. Undercover Tourist linked to my account before I signed up for the YES classes.

not so patiently waiting for the early summer class schedule to be released.

Kinda bummed, since when I called YES back in early Sept the gentleman I spoke with said they were already looking at the scheduling and hoped to have it out in late fall 2013 :(

does anybody have a crystal ball or historical listing of what classes they are most likely going to offer for early summer ? specifically 14 yr olds.

I would have been shocked if the summer schedule came out in the fall. They have never had schedules out that early that I know of. The summer schedule last year came out in February, I believe, about when the winter classes were over, give or take a week or two. I'm sure somebody here knows the exact date.

So we've done the YES prgoram at WDW twice and HS days once. Thinking of doing the YES program at Disneyland.....we've never been there and are hoping to go this year.
Has anyone done the YES programs there? If so how were they?

We've done the YES program twice but both times we stayed 7 days.

Does anyone know if there is a minimum number of ticket days you have to buy with the YES program?

Hi

If you are doing the program at Disney World you have to purchase a 3 day minimum. However, FL residents can do a 1 day.

We are waiting for the schedule for the summer too. My DD really enjoys it.:)

The summer schedule is posted!

Does anyone have experience linking Y.E.S. tickets to a reservation for Fast Pass Plus FP+?

Can you post a link to the schedule? I can't seem to find it. Thanks!

Edit - nevermind, I found it a few pages back.

Wow! I plugged in our dates (October 19-24) and there are classes EVERY DAY that week!

So, a few quick questions...

First, our biggest concern is linking the YES tickets to MDE so that we can book FP+. If we are unable to do this, it may actually sway us away from the class. Does anyone know how this might work?

Second, I assume that there is no way that they will ever allow folks with an AP to participate without having to buy at least a 3-day ticket, correct? We are going again in May and the price of a DVC AP is much better than what the cost of YES tickets would be. I just wish that we could either A) pay a price for just the class or B) be able to upgrade the YES tickets to AP's once we get there.

Right now, my sister's family will probably be participating, but my family is going to pass on it. It is only $650 more for us to buy 4 AP's than it would be for 5-day PH through the YES program. That is a no-brainer since there is no way we'd get 5-day PH next May for under $650.
