Disney Y.E.S. Program

Anybody have any luck switching classes after siging up?

Can anyone comment on the Wild By Nature class and/or the Making Waves with a Marine Career class?

I did the Wild by Nature one in July 2010. We did the class early morning. We didn't start exactly on time waiting on the other group that didn't show. We were given these mic and hearing devices so we could hear the tour guide. We walked and walked. ALL around that park. I would not recommend it to anyone in the summer. Its 3 hours outside. You don't break. Yes you get to go to the Safari without any wait. That was nice, and yes I did see animals I didn't even know AK had (and I've visited 4 times prior) but it was way too hot. It's not that I didn't enjoy myself, but toward the end, the children I had with me (7 of them ages 8-11) were antsy toward the end. We were given AK bandana as a parting gift for participation. I signed up for the animation program this time (in doors).

I booked Ocean Discoveries for my older son for our trip in August! Anyone been to this on and know if it'll be fun for a 9 year old? Also, it's an 8:30 class. My husband will be taking him and I'll be hanging out with our almost 2 year old son. Any suggestions on something fun to do with him while it's just us two? We don't have parkhoppers and we've already built in lots of pool time...

If I sign up our 7 year old and there isn't anything for our 5 year old during our dates, then who can get the discounted tix? It will be me, hubby, 7 year old doing the class, and 5 year old that can't do a class since there is none available. Thanks!

You can still get tickets for siblings, even if they aren't taking a class.

Has anyone experienced the Properties of Motion program? I am trying to decide whether or not the kids would like the class. I think they would, but I will have to change our dates and I want to make sure it is worth it. My four older children will do the Properties of Motion and my youngest daughter will do the How Things Move. It would be the first day of our trip and we would not all be going to the park together on the first day. My youngest son will be too young to participate. Any reviews of the program? Also, my husband will chaperone the Properities of Motion - will it be boring for the adult? (I'll be with our daughter at How Things Move)

This thread has been such a help for me. I'm pretty sure I've decided to do it, but want to make sure.

Also, can you change the dates after you've bought the tickets? We are going in September...obviously if there is a hurricane, they won't have the class so would we be able to change the tickets?

Is mid-September too hot for the AK Wild by Nature class? I keep reading things on how hot AK is. Starting to think that might not be such a great class to take. I live in CO. It's very nice in mid-Sept but I think FL is still really hot, right?

FL is VERY hot in mid-September. We've gone to Disney several times at that time of year (and I used to live in Orlando, years ago), and temps were typically in the high 80's to mid 90's. It was also pretty humid.

Hmm, that isn't too encouraging for a 3-hour outdoor class at what sounds like one of the hottest places on the planet.

I know, lol. We were considering that class too, but I think we'll save it until we visit again in January/February. :rolleyes1

Am I missing something?

For a long time all the YES Q & A was on this thread, and there was another thread that was a predecessor to this one. Lately it seems like there are a ton of new YES threads that don't last... just thought it was a weird trend and thought maybe there was something going on that I missed.

Good idea ;) I can't figure out what to do. There just aren't that many options for when we are there and that class is by far, the most interesting to my dd's. But I am concerned about the heat :sad2:

I know exactly what you mean! Our other option is Ocean Discoveries, and we're staying at BWV. So, if we did that one, we'd have to take a taxi to the front side of Epcot, lol. So much for the convenience of being right at Epcot's back entrance. :headache:

That is our only other option too! But I don't want to lose 3 hours of Epcot time. I'd rather give up 3 hours at AK. Hmm, what to do, what to do :confused3

There is an event at Epcot for GirlScouts and Alumni called:
Bridging into the Next Century, the bridging event is open to Brownies on up and takes place on either Sat May 26 or Sun May 27 at Epcot...early in the morning. There are also special GirlScout classes offered on Fri May 25 and Monday the 28 for $26.

As with the traditional YES classes there are also deeply discounted tickets if you participate. Individual GirlScouts can participate, just put your troop number in the spot on the form that you fill out.

The tickets you can purchase are up to a 5 day premiums and can be used 7 days prior to your arrival date and 7 days after. The earliest arrival date that you can qualify for is 5/18 or 5/19.

We totally lucked out on this, I stumbled upon it and we happen to be there! So now, I will be able to purchase 5 day premiums for our family of 6 for $1080!! vs. $1777. I'm going to surprise our daughter with the news when we get there!:woohoo:

Just wanted to pass this along in case someone else might be interested if you are there during that time!:goodvibes

We thought of doing Wild by Nature, but I discounted it for the same reasons being discussed: 3 hours outside at AK in August.

Instead, we're taking 2 different classes at EPCOT, both at the same time on the same day. Since we'll be at the Beach Club, we'll just have to suck it up and take 2 taxis-- there are 5 of us-- to the front gate of EPCOT. With all the money we're saving, it's a small price to pay.

You don't have to take two. Mears is Disney's "official" cab service provider and they have many vans tooling around the property. We hopped a cab back to Pop after a late dinner at Ohana and there were several van-cabs available at the Poly cab stand. If there isn't one waiting at the BC when you're heading to your class I'm sure the concierge would happily call for one.

Thanks Colleen, that's great to know. We've stayed at the Poly before, and haven't ever had to worry about any non-Disney transportation. Then again, we never saved over $600 on park tickets before, so I'm certainly not complaining :) We'll speak to Concierge the night before.

Does anyone know if you use your Disney Visa to purchase tickets if it falls into the same category as a trip - i.e. 6 months interest free?
