Disney Y.E.S. Program

We did Wild by Nature...which was the former Ak class and we loved it! The Ak one fills up super-fast so if you want to do it then book it asap!:thumbsup2

We also did Wild by Nature. Did they get rid of that one? Or did they just change the name?

We took Principals of Animal Behavior last month. It was a cute class. My dd(9) enjoyed it but my ds(11) was completely bored. Because the age ranges of these classes is so wide, they tend to bring the lesson down to accommodate the younger ages.

My favorite part is being let into the park before the crowds and being shown some of the animals up front. We stepped off to the side to let the "herd" of the rope drop pass us by at 9am. It's an interesting perspective.

We went through one of the trails and the leader would stop at some exhibits and talk about them. Near the end we rode the Safari via the FP line. We split up in small groups and each group was to observe the animals that were eating, resting, herding, etc.

About the tickets: We were given the paper tickets at will-call and told at that time that we couldn't switch them to RFID. After we went through the entrance via a ipod reader, the CM said we could. So we switched them over later that day without a problem. I don't think you can add them to your room key though.

Has anyone taken the Animation class at HS? We are signed up for it in August and I have one who is afraid of thrill rides...just wondering if they go on any rides so I can be prepared for that...

My daughter is signed up for this class in August too (Aug. 27). Not sure if they go on any rides, but I know she's hoping they do. She can't wait to take this class so I'm hoping it's a good one. Anyone have any info on it?

I've only seen two or three reviews on that class. It sounded as if there were no rides involved. The time was spent in the Animation building and I think One Man's Dream, if I recall correctly.

We took it and it has been our least favorite of all the classes. No rides involved, lots of talking, doing some drawing and learning about different animation techniques. Spent all of it in the Animation building or right outside of it in a courtyard. The class we were in was the younger class and my DD was one of the oldest in it. Our CM kept switching off to a new person and the little kids were very distracted. My DD loves art so I thought this would be a winner. Instead it was a dud (at least for us).

We did the animation program a few years ago with a large group and my girls loved it. There were no rides and it did stay at the One Man's Dream attraction. However, our Cast Member was excellent and actively engaged the kids, whose ages ranged from K-12. I was very impressed. My DD just asked if we could do it again. :thumbsup2

Hello everyone. Please forgive me if my questions are repetitive or have been answered on here before. I have not had a chance to read through everything. My DGS used the YES program last year, but from what I see, there have been some changes since last year. I guess the discounted prices are not as great. Can someone please take a minute to update me on the biggest changes since last summer? We are planning a trip next summer and trying to decide if we want to enroll DGS in another program. Thanks in advance for your help.

The biggest change seems to be that the huge ticket discount only applies to the student enrolled for the class. Parents and siblings notattending class get a minor discount.

Ive read the last30 pages of this thread but does anyone know about the 2014 classes will come out?

Does anyone know the dates in February that classes were offered last year? We are looking at checking in on 2/21 and was wondering if classes were offered that late in February or not. Thanks a bunch!

They were offered, not sure on dates. Just so you know they are continually changing the dates and rules! I assumed something based in a couple of years experience and still messed up!

I *think* the last class was somewhere around the 15th of February. I'm not positive though.

Sorry if this has already been asked but 150 pages is a lot to sift through:surfweb:...

Are YES classes available in June? Specifically, the second/third weeks of June? I know a LOT can change between now and then, but we're planning a second, extended-family vacation in 2016 and all of the kids will be old enough to do a YES program. Since most of them are on a tight budget, the current discount tickets are appealing.

OK, second question...

If I sign up DD10 and DD7 for the same class, I am only allowed to add either DH or myself. DH and I would both like to see the program so is it possible to do two separate registrations, one with DD10 and I and a second with DD7 and DH? It won't be an issue if the girls want to do different programs, but if they want the same one, DH and I would both like to go.
**OOPS! Found the answer to this one...no extra adults so this is a no-go.**

Final question...

If DH and I have AP's and the kids do not, we're basically screwed because we would still have to buy at least a 3-day ticket for one of us (the designated chaperone) correct? DH and I are going without the kids in November and we're planning a family trip next October. The kids would like to do a YES class but if DH and I buy AP's, we would still have to buy tickets in order to chaperone the kids at the YES class. Does anyone have any experience with this? Is there any way that AP holders can only pay for the class admission?

I can't answer all of your questions but this is what I do know:

In 2012 we were in WDW from June 14th-22nd. My DSs attended a YES class on June 18th, so yes, YES classes are held in June. If my memory serves me correctly, there were only a few days prior to our arrival that YES classes were held (I want to say the first one was June 12th). I don't think there are YES classes the first week of June.

As far as both you and your DH attending, you are correct in that only one of you can attend BUT you could do a separate registration for one of your DD and you and another one for your other DD and your DH. I remember last year some people did just this so both parents could attend. Personally, I enjoyed some "alone" time in the MK. My DSs' class was over around 10:30 so we still had plenty of time to spend in the MK together. Again, this was last year, so things could have changed. Also, if you do go the route of doing two registrations, there is a slight possibility that after you register either yourself or your DH and one of your DD the class could fill up before you get the chance to complete the second registration.

Anyone have advice or comments on the Energy and Waves class?
http://as1.wdpromedia.com/media/youth/pdf/products/yes/WDWEnergyandWavesProgramDescription.pdf
It says they go behind the scenes of Haunted Mansion- a ride my kids (8 and 11) have been afraid to go on and Stitch's Great Escape (another one we've avoided). I'm wondering if they are afraid of the ride if the class is going to freak them out?

Hello. We did this one a while back. You actually go beneath n behind the ride not on it. They specifically talked about the mesh type stuff in the dining room dancing scene. Very interesting...We did do the stitch ride. Our least favorite ride of all time regardless of the class. My ds and I enjoyed it and he actually learned stuff. Since he actually enjoys doing/learning the YES. Program is great.
I think I'd prob choose another one for ur little one as it may be a better fit.
Best of luck and enjoy.
