I am thinking of booking a trip @ xmas time.
Can anyone share their experience or thoughts as to which resort would be good at this time of the year?
I would imagine there are special events for both xmas and new year's eve.
Has any one every gone on these holidays?
Thanks for sharing :santa::cheer2:

We stayed there this past Christmas and by far it is the most beautifully decorated of all the hotels. I would be staying there again this year but we just bought into BLT and we are staying there this year. I will be visiting the Wilderness Lodge to see the 60ft Christmas tree.:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

I love the Wilderness lodge, I stayed there in 95'. We bought in AKV & are staying in SSR in 2 weeks. Thanks for the info

never been during christmas. Going this year for first time. Staying at AKV.

We stayed at AKV Dec. 20-26.
Two words....ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!

On Xmas Eve, Mickey & Minnie (dressed in their holiday outfits) were in the lobby posing for pics. with guests beside the Xmas tree.

And Santa was there too! :santa:

Christmas 2010, right? 2009 might be slim pickings this late in the year. Your choice might be limited to what's available.

I was going to try for 2009, im new so dont have this DVC thing down yet but i was going to see what is available & take it from there. I was originally planning a DCL for spring 2010 but DH & DD want to go xmas.

pretty much all of december is peak season for DVC - definitely try to book at 10-11 months out.

VWL is probably the most popular. i find AKV (jambo specifically) to be similar but like the extra exotic feel of that resort at christmastime. the epcot resorts also have their fans.

at this point, though, i'd agree that SSR or OKW will probably be your best bets...and they may only have sporadic availability.

Better act fast we just booked at SSR and all tey ad left were a few studios and one bedrooms....we were trying to get a 2 bedroom or villla and none were left

Hi BKFairy,
You are probably going to receive many different answers and opinions which is a good thing. My favorite is Wilderness Lodge. That is why we own our points there. Every year we stay in December for the Holiday events. I like the boat to MK and the decorations at WL are not to be beat.

I did book WL this year at 10 months and then switched to BLT under 7 months. We are going to try BLT this year and see how we like it. Just to be clear though we go in mid-December not over Christmas.

Whatever you decide I am sure you will have a great time. Disney is extra magical during Christmas!

December is the best time to go to Disney. All of the decorations are so beautiful, I found myself tearing up just walking around the parks and different hotel lobbies from all of the decorations. They truly are spectacular!

We have stayed at VWL and BCV during December and we LOVED the humongous xmas tree in the lobby (the other decorations were amazing too). The Beach club was also beautiful in it's own special way. You really can't go wrong with any of the Disney resorts at Christmas time, they are all gorgeous, you will not be disappointed no matter where you stay!

Thanks for all the great advice, I booked at AKV for the 24th - 27th. The family is very excited.

See you there! You will not be disappointed with AKV during x-mas time. It's beautiful. I stayed at AKL christmas of 07', fell in love with the resort and purchased AKV the summer of 08'. I will be trying Kidani for the first time this x-mas and im so excited.

We've always alternated between WVL and BWV for our December trips. However, last year was our first trip for NYE, and we found BWV to be very very convenient for leaving Epcot after the wonderful firework display. If we owned at BLT, that would be a great choice too...but for us, our NYE trips will be at BWV! The lobby there is my second favorite right after WL's lobby.

I also love the BWV lobby at Xmas. I will never cease to marvel at how they hang that garland, so loaded with ornaments, without having broken ornaments all over the place. I LOVE that garland.
Last year when the NYE crowd at Epcot got to be too much, it was nice to just walk back to BWV and enjoy the DJ on the Village Green.

I just had to post about what we did, almost the same but in opposite direction.

I called for BLT ressies, for owners, the first second the lines opened (was lucky to get through) and booked 12/13-12/14 1br MK view @ BLT.

About a month or so ago, I had to call MS for something and thought I would check availability @ VWL as I hear literally EVERYONE (lol) talk about how gorgeous it is a Christmas time. The CM (and me too) was totally shocked when she found a 1br for the last week of our trip. She said "I can't believe it's available, but it is" At that moment I had to decide to give up a full week (the week up to and including Christmas eve) at BLT and switch to VWL. Needless to say I was on the fence, had NO intention of switching, but the "planets seemed to be aligned" for me, so I booked VWL for the week.

The CM laughed and said "are you SURE you want to cancel your week @ BLT, because it will get gobbled up in seconds by the waitlist" I said...reluctantly.."yes" She cancelled it and I got VWL and I can't wait!

I mean, we still get a full week @ BLT and then get to go VWL for the same Lodge type Christmas decor we have in CO. It's gonna be a blast!

So whomever got that week for a 1BR MK view 12/18-12/24-You're Welcome :lmao:
