Disney world with infant?

Hi, I am looking for some advice about travelling to Disney world with an infant under 6 months.

We took our DD4 to DW when she was 2 and again when she was 3. She is very tall for her age and could ride lots of rides, it made it fun for myself and DH.

I am due in September (with a little boy) and would love to head back to DW maybe in Nov or Jan. My DD4 is over 44inches now and can ride almost everything. Are there any rides in all of the parks that I would be able to bring the baby on? Or should I just wait a year or two? I have no problem waiting for DD and DH while they are on rides, I just would like to ride a few as a family.

Has anyone travelled with an infant under 6 months, any advice would be appreciated

We took our youngest for the first time when she was 3 months old. You can take an infant on a ton of rides. The only ones that you cannot take them on are the ones that have height restrictions. So really than can go on most of the rides.

We went to DLP when Princess Wigglypants was 6 mos. She seemed to enjoy Small World. I think that most of the inside rides in Fantasyland would probably be OK to take her on, but you really have to judge her moods from minute to minute. Also, Sarah loved character interaction, but your results may differ greatly.

It's important to remember that an infant's trip to Disney isn't about her, it's about you. Keep her happy and comfy and all will be good.

My son's first Disney trip was when he was about 5 weeks old.

As long as it's cool (not too cold and not too hot) it should not be a problem.

Most everything but thrill rides he could go on in (and did). We have some great pictures of him and his sis on that trip.

I think you have to be careful of overstimulation-the noise, the action, the visuals and above all children have to look at a lots of bottoms in strollers. Not too fun!!! I'd make my visits short or trade off and make sure to stay at a resort where you can easily go back for breaks if you have a screaming baby. I speak from experience.

I brought both of my children while they were infants. I would suggest having the bottles, if you use formula, delivered tot he hotel with disposable nipples. You can just use and recycle- without having to worry about keeping the bottles cold or having to warm them.
You can go on most rides. At six months, if I remember correctly, your son should be able to sit up pretty well. A hip hammock or something or the sort would probably be worth taking.

My most memorable WDW trip (out of many!) was the year we took the kids when our youngest was only 8 months old.

I was one of those people who could never understand why people would bring infants to Disney. They would not remember the trip, and it is just such a hassle to deal with a stroller and bottles and diaper changes, ect.

Well, we did it. We took them when he was just 8 months old, and I have to say he LOVED IT! I never would have guessed a baby would know the difference, but this kid knew he was in some awesome place. He had to give every character he met an open mouthed kiss. In the mornings, I would sit him in the middle of the bed, and pull out the sunscreen, and as soon as he saw me start to lather sunscreen on the older kids, he would SQUEAL with delight. It was like the sunscreen told him he was going to that "happy place"

His favorite ride, and yes, we could tell it was his favorite, was Tomorrowland Transit Authority. We also took him on Pooh, Peter Pan, Snow White, Dumbo, The Tiki Room, and the Haunted Mansion. Like a PP said, any ride that does not have a height restriction. Which is a lot.

A 6 month old could have just as much fun as a 2 year old. Go and make memories!

We brought our 5 and half month old last June (we're going back in Nov when he'll be almost 23 months). He was able to go on plenty of rides, but mainly the tame, slow ones. The ones I can recall taking him on were the 'Living With The Land' ride in the Land Pavilion. The 'Great Movie Ride' in Hollywood Studio's. Maybe the Norway boat ride too, but I can't recall at the moment. We took him on the Killamanjaro Safari. The Nemo ride. Spaceship Earth.

I'll caution you about the Imagination ride in EPCOT. He was fine up til the very end when they hit you with a loud noise and blast of air. None of us remembered that was coming and it scared him to tears.

Maybe its worth asking the CM's on some of those rides if there are any sudden loud noises or surprises and steer the infant away from those.

Honestly, I was surprised at his reaction on many of the rides. He seemed to enjoy most of them, except the aforementioned "Imagination Incident".

But after his mild reaction to the 1812 Overture cannon fire during a July 4th concert a couple of weeks ago, I think we might try him on Imagination again. But questionable for a real young one, unless maybe if they are a heavy sleeper. As soon as DS is old/tall enough, I'm already sure he'll be joining me on Everest, Rockin Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror, etc. He's already a little daredevil at 18 months!

DS was fine with the characters last year.

Its this year I'm worried about.
