I have been trying to get a hotel room in Disney for November 7th, 8th and 9th for my sister and NOTHING is available!!

My TA looked into this, I had DU look into this and I also went on the WDW website and I personally called them - NOTHING, I tell you NOTHING is available for these dates - how can this be. This is NOVEMBER, not during a major holiday or in the middle of the summer for peak season.

What do you all recommend that I do? They have plane tickets until November 10th so they can't leave early and prefer not to stay outside of Disney because that would mean they would have to rent a car and they really don't want to have to do that.

The rest of our family is staying on Disney property but they weren't sure if they were going to stay for the three extra nights, but now I am not sure what I am going to do for them.

What to do? Waht to do?

Thanks for your advice and help.

Lisa

You didn't say if you wanted a budget, moderate,or deluxe but i checked Expedia and it seem they may have Disney hotel room for your dates. You could also try the hotels in the disney downtown area. Hope this helps.

I will definitely check expedia and travelocity. They wanted Value or Moderate, but NOTHING is available for any category hotel according to CRO.

Thanks though,

Lisa

I bet its because Super Soap weekend is that weekend, and at the beginning of the week, isn';t that when all the people in New Jersey come for a few days because they have a teacher conference or something, ?

I bet that's it.

Don't give up! Large travel agencies, travel wholesalers, tour operators often have blocks of rooms they hold for package sales but if they don't use them they go back to Disney inventory usually around 30 days out.
Also, there will be cancellations as the time gets closer. 45 days out when the WDTC bookings require final payment and again 5 days out when CRO deposits become non refundable.

In the mean time, did you look into the Downtown Disney hotels? I would probably try to hold a room there in case nothing does open up. Transportation would be easier than at a totally offsite (MainGate, LBV, I-4) hotel.

Good luck.

Here's my post about the same thingNo availability Veteran's Day I was searching every day and just gave up. I did check the other day and they only had concierge at the YC and BWI available. This was going to be a cheaper trip for us so that wouldn't do. I decided to go to San Francisco with dh instead;) It's much cheaper to stay at a deluxe hotel there:D I'll try again for a January trip. Good luck.

This is Teacher's Convention in New Jersey and we found it hard to get a hotel room at this time back in May. Have you tried asking availability of by asking by night, maybe it is one night that is throwing the availability off. We tried to get the Poly and the GF through Expedia when they told us they were sold out and when we put our cc in a message came back that the hotel was unavailabe for on or all of our nights.

I know alot of people headed to WDW this year for Teacher's Convention because we get an extra day this year.

Good luck

Your dates seem to be available at the Courtyard by Marriott in Downtown Disney. You can book that through Dreams Unlimited. It doesn't have the Disney theming, but my sister just returned from there and said the staff was very friendly. She said the room was a bit colorless, but it was clean. They have bus service to all the parks, and you can walk to Downtown Disney.

You have Super Soap Weekend, Jersey Week and the Epcot Food & Wine Fest going on. In addition, there is an art festival at DD starting that weekend. That is also the time of year that DVC members can go for lower points (read: cheaper) so those resorts fill up fast.

IMHO you have pent up demand from last year also. Many, many people either cancelled or decided not to travel after 9/11 and that lasted pretty much through the end of the year and into the 1st quarter. All that frustrated vacation urge is just spilling out this year in increased reservations. Just my opinion.

It's always kind of risky to try and get a Disney reservation only 2 months out if you are locked down on days and/or type of accomodation. As a previous poster said, I'd start trying at the 45 day down to 30 day period looking for cancels. However, you'll probably have to look hard and move fast. Your sister isn't going to be able to dawdle around with her decision!

just checked those dates lots of rooms available through yahoo/travel . good luck

Yes, NJ school are closed 11/7 & 11/8. I can never understand why so many people go down this week when its only a 4 day weekend. Unless they take the kids out of school the whole week. I have lived in Jersey my whole life and have never taken a family vacation that week.

Lisa, our schools are off the 5-11...guess where I'm heading 4pm on the 4th?!!!;)

We decided a few weeks ago to take advantage of the Code CKO rates for a Veterans weekend BWI stay and were running into the same problem. CRO said "entire resort is sold out". Disneyworld.com said "sorry, no rooms available". Travelocity (which is the same as Yahoo Travel) and Expedia said "sure, there are lots of rooms" only to say "sorry, selected hotel no longer available" or "cannot book this hotel online" when it came time to put down a credit card deposit. Dreams Unlimited said "we can't find anything for you, with or without a discount."

So, I gave up, right? Never! As the old saying goes, "keep calling". My strategy was to check the Funshine Savings online booking page at Disneyworld.com just to see if anything might become available. It continued to say "sorry" until late last week when a discounted standard view room @ BWI for 11/7-11/11 popped up. I immediately called CRO because I wanted the 5 day cancellation policy and sure enough they had the room available at the discount rate. Just for grins, I checked online the next day and they again said " sold out".

So, keep trying and I'm betting you'll get your room. Good luck!

Sharon & Lisa,
My kids are off Nov 4 - 8th. I could only get airfare using miles out of Newark on Nov 1. My children will miss 1 day! Bet you can't guess what state I'm from!!!:teeth:

My kids are off Nov. 7th - Nov. 8th. Like LisaNJ25 said, four days doesn't seem enough to go down there, but I guess a lot of people do since everyone is having trouble getting rooms then.

Sometimes, if you start a day earlier or add a day to the end, reservations open up. That's worked for me - both on the phone to CRO and on the WDW web.

Try for just the 8th and 9th and see if that works. Then try the 7th by itself.

This is precisely why I made ressies TODAY for November 28/28...of 2003!!! I'm terrified that I will have to 'settle' for something other than I want. For $100 deposit, have one worry off my mind.:o

perhaps resort hoping .do single nights. just checked & all 3 nights are available somewhere . they do move your luggage for you . a t extream but if staying on site is that important will get you on to property .maybe as time gets closer people will cancel & maybe youll get all 3 nights together by the time you go .

If all of the resorts are sold out, you would think that the hours posted for that weekend would be extended, but they are not. We will be there then, I hope things get less crowded after Veteran's Day.:D

One of the reasons a lot of us head down there during this time is because when you teach (which I do) this is the only value season/off season time you can travel not just to WDW but really anywhere. My other choices of vacation time during the school year are Christmas, Easter, and President's Weekend and I find airline tickets to be too much $$$$ at these times.
