Everytime I've been to Disney it's been during christmas time. And as much as I love all the christmas decorations and the christmas time stuff, I am really looking forward to visting during a 'regular' time. I'm just wondering what's it like? I know the weather is iffy, but that's okay I'm coming from New England and I'm convinced that Orlando on it's coldest day can't be colder New England in january. Is the music different, the parads, the characters? :teeth:

I've been in WDW a couple times in January and love it. Although, depending on the dates that you go, they may still have the Christmas decorations up. I'm not sure what day it is that they take them down. January weather is great. It may be warm or cool during the day but rarely hot or cold. The crowds (or lack thereof) are great as long as your trip doesn't coencide with late holiday season (1st week) or MLK weekend. Have fun! Maybe I'll see you there

We went January 5-10, 2006. It was great, but cold the first three days. They had frost warnings and steam was rising up from the pools! I think the temperature was around 38 one night. Then, the sun came out the last two days and we went swimming! It was beautiful weather - about 75.
The Christmas decorations were still up when we got there. Each day there were fewer and fewer around.
We were there over the marathon weekend. The traffic was a bit much, but the crowds were still very low compared to our June trip.
You'll have fun in January!

January is a good time to go unless you are there during the marathon (second weekend I believe). Crowds will be a little higher at this time but still not bad. The weather is usually really nice (low to mid 70s daytime, 40s at night). Depending on when in January that you go, they may still have Christmas decorations up.

Early January is still busy from Christmas but it dies down in later in the month. It is also cold so you can't swim, major minus for me.

We are going jan 12th-20th so I am crossing my fingers that it'll be sorta dead. we dont mind waiting in some lines, but i would not want to wait 70mins in anything. I however think that the 13-15th is MLK weekend, but heck we have the rest of the week to ourselves. well just go to our two fav parks (epcot and magic kingdom) after the busy weekend i can not wait :) thanks for the info everybody!

I'm thinking of a short trip in Jan and it would be the weekend AFTER the long weekend....how bad do you think crowds would be that weekend??

Our trip last year was in January and we loved it. The weather was exactly the same every single day of our trip. Cool enough for a jacket and a long sleeved tee in the morning, close to 80 during the middle of the day and back to jackets and long sleeves at night. Absolutely perfect in my opinion. Hope you have a wonderful trip.

The Christmas crowds disappear by about Jan 2 or 3. The marathon is really no big deal, but does tie up morning traffic, depending on where you are coming from / going to. When the people from England go home, it is just about empty. :)

The decorations were completely gone on the 10th or 11th this year.

It went down to 32 degrees one night and a staff member from I forget where (tropical climate) that had never been out in that told me she had "...ICE! On my CAR!" Being from the midwest, that kinda cracked me up.

Some days are warm, some are downright chilly. No way to tell.

But it beats July!!!!!!

January 24 & 25 2003, it was 23 degrees when we headed for Magic Kingdom at 8:30 am! It was a record and numerous trees & bushes at WDW didn't survive the cold snap.

Other than that one trip, we have usually had really nice weather in late January, often up to about 70 in the afternoon.

Early December 1997 was cold too, but not 23 cold.
