This will be my families very 1st trip ever to Disney (December 9-15) of 2007. I was wondering how busy it is around that time of year. My husband is not good about waiting in really long lines. Any info. would really be appreciated.:santa: Thanks!!

It used to be that early December was a very slow time at WDW, with crowds building daily until Christmas, however, folks are catching on that this is a good time to go and there is no guarantee for low crowds then anymore. Crowds will be lower if you wait until January, but then all of the great holiday stuff will be over. Personally, I think folks worry too much about the crowds. They are hard to predict so just plan on them being there. Have a good schedule, use FP, etc. I would never promise him low crowds at any time of the year if it were me!

I have been the week right after TG before and crowds were non-existant! I've also been the week of TG and the crowds were significant, but managable. I think the week you're going will be great and I wouldn't worry about the crowds. It's a great time to go -- the holiday festivities and decorations are so neat! Even if crowds do "pick up" during that time, I think you'll still find it much less than most months at WDW.

We had a great time when we went last year early December! I wouldn't say it was empty, but more so than summer. The parks close a lot earlier, which was great for us since it meant our toddler could see the fireworks.

What's the weather like? That is what I am worried about w/December!! Were you able to do any water stuff?
TIA,
Lesley

The last few trips we've done have been in november...one was the week of thanksgiving and the other the first week. Both times the crowds were not that bad....some rides had a long wait yet others were practically a walk right on. Seeing the temps were bearable....it didn't make the crowds seem that bad either. The time we were there over thanksgiving, one day the temps were chilly....even for us who were from Vermont at the time yet the day after we were back in shorts and tank tops.

This year we'll be there December 9-15 too!:woohoo:

The weather in December can be iffy, but I wouldn't depend on doing any swimming. Our first December trip it was very cold (for Florida), and they even had to cover some of the plants at night to keep them from freezing. We went again last year and it was very pleasant.

The best thing you can do for a December trip is check the weather for the Orlando area before packing so you're not surprised. It may be that you're able to do some swimming or have other water fun.

Hiya- We have been twice in Dec. (same week as you). Last year we started out w/ highs in the 50's, and ended up w/ highs in the low 70's.
We didn't plan on doing anything water related anyway since the parks have shorter hours and there are more holiday activities scheduled in all the parks.:santa:
I think the cooler temps make touring much easier on everyone. We weren't zapped from the heat and it was nice not dripping w/ sweat.:)

Your'e gonna have a great time! It's a wonderful time to go!

We're going at the same time as you, well the 8th - 15th :). Make sure to wave at me, I'll be the 40 year old kid there :cool1:

I have only ever went the first couple weeks of December. Our first trip ended on December 18. It was shoulder to shoulder!!! Other than that, we almost never wait in lines. (5 or 10 minutes) It is awesome. The decorations, MVMCP and all of the holiday stuff make it the best for us. We have had one trip where we did have to purchase gloves because it was so cold. We always carry jackets and sweatshirts just in case and we have our mickey santa hats for our heads. Last year we did have to wait for EE for 45 minutes but it was new and it was pop warner week. I think the weather is fine, like I said carry you some things to keep warm just in case. We were not miserable as it kinda went with the snow on main street. Very festive. I hope you and your family have a great time on your trip. We will be there this year December 6 through December 9 before we leave for our cruise. By the way I feel about the December Cruise just like the parks. Perfect!!!!!!
