Has anyone visited WDW in August? Is it really too hot and crowded at this time? Any comments welcomed! Also opinion if Pop resort enjoyable

It has been a number of years since I have been to WDW in Aug., but from what can recall, it is rather hot. What we used to do was go right when it opened, (least crowded and not as warm), leave around 11:30-noonish, and return in the late afternoon/early evening when some of the people would leave and the temp. dropped.

:sunny:

I'm planning on getting married down there in the summertime. Hope it won't be TOO hot.

Hope this helped! :beach:

We were there last August and it definately was hot! As long as you are dressed for the heat and hydrate yourself there shouldn't be any problems. You can also purchase hand held fans and misters to help also! You will want to take advantage of all A/C areas and make sure you get some rest time!As for Pop ,that is where we stayed( 60's section ) and it was great !The rooms were clean and everyone was friendly, the only thing that wasn't was the bed we had- it definately was in need of replacement! And it was crowded because the free dining was going on!

We did both we did late august and all I can remember is how much it rained. We stayed at AKL and went mostly in the morning and evenings to the parks we spent the afternoons dtd or at the lodge.

Pop was a lot of fun and I would stay there again. Because the kids are older we decided to do the bunkbeds at AKL this year.

We went in August, and yes, it's H-O-T hot! However if you prepare for it, it's managable. We would arrive at the parks early so we could get a lot of touring in before the crowds showed up and the day got too hot. In the mid day hours we either did table service meals, or watch shows (in air conditioned theaters), or we'd go back to our resort for a dip in the pool (so refreshing!) and maybe a little nap. Then we'd head back to the parks in the late afternoon or early evening. It worked out great!

We found crowds to be very managable. We walked onto most rides and had little wait for many others. Only a few were long waits. We plan to go again in August. I could do without the heat, but with the proper planning you can handle it. Just remember to drink lots of water and take breaks when you need them.

Have fun!

Yes, August was really hot when we visited! We stayed at CBR - we left our rooms all clean and DRY only to be soggy by the time we reached the bus stop! Serious humidity! We toured early, then headed back to our room and the AC during the midday. We ended every night with a swim to cool off - that was nice.

We went late August into early September last year and it was HOT! We are from NC so we are used to the heat and humidity, but it really drained us. We tried to use the shops and other A/C places to cool off, but any relief ended the second you stepped back outside. I won't go again in August. We're going in October this year and I hope that time is more comfortable.

We stayed in Pop both times we went last year. We loved it! Last trip, our nonsmoking room smelled like smoke, but they were quick to move us to a new room, which was perfect. They left my son a balloon and signed picture for his birthday too. Food court was great and Pop doesn't share buses, so that was a great perk as well.

We went the second week of September, and looking at the almanac and other weather history and averages, there is little difference between when we went and a week or two earlier. It was hot. As Seattlites, we really had to prepare--make sure that we bought good clothes and shoes for such a moist and hot trip. And while there were moments of discomfort, we did just fine. With so many places air conditioned, any time you need relief you can find it. Going when there is lower attendance helps, because you won't be stuck in lines and slow-moving crowds outside, and we were surprised by the planning of lengthy indoor air-conditioned queues. So even if you are in line, it would take a large crowd and a long line to see you standing in the blazing sun.

We thought we would have to take afternoon breaks by the pool, but found we handles it well. Of course hydration is important, and slowing down and resting when you body tells you to is key. :) As for the rain, t'wasn't nothin' we couldn't handle. I actually thought it would rain more, but I think we had a few moments on a couple of days, and the rest of the time it was simply overcast, or partly sunny, dotted by pure blue skies. Perfect.

Well, it rains nearly every day at WDW, from what I've heard and experienced. Usually its just a burst of a shower or thunderstorm and then 10 minutes later, the sun is shining again. Just bring some disposable ponchos(they don't take up much room)

Yes it is HOT!!!! We were there last August and while it was hot and humid, if you plan and listen to what the people here have to say, it is a wonderful time to go. Go early, take breaks and go to the pool at the resort, take short power naps in the afternoons, or waterparks. Make sure to wear a hat with a visor or large brim, and drink lots of water, even if you don't feel thirsty!!!! I think that the last two are the most important.

We had such a great time with lower crowd levels and the "free dining" that we are going back this August. With a little thought and preperation, it will be a great time. GO FOR IT!!!!!!

Been to Disney in late aug and mid sept and while it is hot, i didnt find it bad, but i am from Missouri and it really prepares you well for the temps.
The thing that bothered me was going from the hot outside into the cold inside places..buses, etc... It is such a shock to the system the 2 different temps.
I think that Disney now has enough cooling options that worrying about temps is rather pointless. Put on some shorts and a tshirt and bring water with you(park water is YUK)
Crowds in late aug are great and then again after labour day are great

Yes, it's hot and crowded, but of my 8 times to WDW, 5 were in August. It's Disney. You're happy even when you have sweat coming out of places you thought would never sweat!:lmao:

August is very hot and humid. We actually looked forward to clouds so we could get some relief from the sun. Make sure you use plenty of sunscreen (waterproof so it does'nt sweat off) wear sunglasses :cool1: and something on your head. It's doable but be sure and pace yourself. Remember you're at Disney - even on the worst day it's the best place to be!:goodvibes
