Does anyone know if there is an option to purchase a gift card instead of Disney Dollars. If yes, where can I get one for my parents? If no, can Disney Dollars be used absolutely everywheres within Disney World?

I don't know if there is a gift card but how sweet of your parents! Have you considered an AmEx gift card or a Visa gift card? That way they might be able to use any leftover afterwards back at home. I hope all of you have a wonderful time being together!

Thats a wonderful idea...it never occured to me that they might have some left over and could use it at home. Thank you!!

Disney dollars can usew thru out Disney. :Pinkbounc

There is a Disney Gift Card they sell it at Walt Disney World but you can also order it and have it sent to you. Just call Disney Mailorders at 407-363-6200.

Just ordered four gift cards as Christmas Presents for the children that will be traveling with us in February. Disney sends them certified mail so make sure you are home or else you might be nervous getting a certified letter and not knowing why? The kids were really excited to think they had their own money to spend when we get there!

I never knew there exists disney gift card, but it sounds wonderful!
:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:
I plan to buy it for my parents.
we used DIS dollars last time. :cloud9:

BTW,welcome to share some disney music

I was bought a Disney Gift Card for my birthday at WDW last year. It was far more convienient than the Disney dollars as it's credit card sized. Plus, once it's used you can take it home and keep unlike a Disney Dollar and they can be re-charged with more money for later trips.

We just got these on our last trip and they were wonderful.

You can buy them in all different denominations. The kids were awarded money here and there for doing "chores around the house" starting several months before we left. Instead of trying to keep up with their different amounts of cash for souvenirs, we just traded their savings in for a Disneyworld Gift Card for each of them. We liked the idea so much, we did the same with our spending money and it was really convenient. It is good for shopping and dining throughout the World. We had no problem using it up and DID NOT have to worry about having any left over on the cards, unfortunately. Or maybe fortunately, however you want to look at it.

They are availabe literally everywhere in the parks and the resorts. They are always right by the cash register, or you call call Disney Mailorder service to have them delivered before the trip.

Can you have them reloaded anywhere in the parks as well as purchasing them. Does anyone know if they can be loaded at the Disney Stores. We get Disney dollars to give from the tooth fairy and the Easter bunny, but this would be fun to give and a bit more easier as far a carrying.

We, too, do the Disney Dollars for tooth fairy, stocking stuffers, and even for allowance as our trips get closer. So I was thinking about doing the gift card instead BUT.. I think it depends on the age of the child who will be using it. Our kids are 8 and I don't think they yet really comprehend that debit concept. I think that for them, for now, having a little wallet with their disney dollars in it is a better way for them to see how they are spending, how much they have left, etc. And I always carry their wallets in my backpack so we don't have any lost dollars. It's a bit cumbersome, yes, but while they are still learning the value of a dollar, the paper disney dollar system will still work best for us.
Now for myself on the other hand...I already informed DH that I'd be very happy with a WDW gift card for Christmas...and Valentine's Day...and... ;)
