I just popped over to Disney Sports to take a look at the course map (for probably the millionth time), and saw that the race is now at 70%. Just thought there might be a few other people like me who still haven't registered who want to keep an eye on it. I have told DH I will wait until it hits 80% before I register. Looks like it's getting closer.

Here is my dumb question for the day. Why wait?
Scott

Hey Scott, I am waiting too! As for the question, we wait 'cause, with kids "life happens". There was a 3 month period last year that I was not able to run Goofy, but as it turned out, things worked out. You just never know what the future holds, especially with 2 kids and a DH that runs too!

In April, we lost DH's Boston Marathon entry fee, hotel deposit and 4 airfares because DH couldn't run Boston. I have learned to hold off as long as possible before making a huge financial commitment. Marathoning ain't cheap!

Stephen and I are waiting too, just because things happen. I'm going to wait until it's 95% full before I sign up, I'm running the Columbus full in October, I'm not sure if I can swing 2 marathons so close together. Stephen will probably not wait much longer as he's definitely running both Columbus and Disney.

On top of those reasons, mine is purely financial. Dh does irrigation in new communities, and with the slow down over the past 6 months the company was not make ANY money. We were paying bills with our vacation and emergency money. That has all changed over the last month and they now have more work that they can handle, but it takes a while for the checks to come in. So the longer I can wait to pay for all of this the better. I have to sign up for the full, get my championchip and my pin ( you know those are a necessity right?!), and I have to sign me and DS6 up for the 5k. It's a pretty hefty chunk of change this year. Not including the hotels, because we have to come in on Thursday instead of Saturday this year. Last year was a 3 day trip (sat, sun,Mon) this year will be 5 (Thurs,Fri,Sat,Sun,Mon).

Thanks for posting this Dana. I'm waiting too, and I check the % on the marathon site nearly every day. It doesn't move very fast that's for sure. I'm waiting too to make sure the marathon will fit into the family schedule and budget. If it does not work for the family plan, I'll be running with you all in spirit in Rochester on Jan 13.

Those are all good reasons and it's true that marathoning ain't cheap!
