Hi there,
I am due to visit magic kingdom and epcot in orlando in late july; the season where fireworks happen at both parks and this is what im most excited about. however, i was recently told that the parks close before the fireworks happen and that the only people who get to watch the fireworks are the people who stay at the disney resorts and are entitled to extra magic hours. Nevertheless, my friends who told me this travelled to orlando around 8 years ago.
How true is this today? Is there a possibility we will not get to see the fireworks?

If the fireworks are @ 9pm and the park closes @ 9pm you will be able to see them even if you aren't staying on property. Usually @ 9pm the rides are closing and the food areas are closing and no more people are admitted to the parks but you can stay and watch the fireworks which go on 'til about 9:20, Also, the stores and ice cream and candy shops on Main st are open still after the fireworks are over. If you don't want to watch the fireworks you can stiil get on some rides @ 9pm. It seems like the closing time is mostly for admittance, the park isn't usually empty until about 10pm. Hope this helps! Don't worry, they won't kick you out!
