Has anyone else heard of people cancelling reservations or calling to complain to Disney because of the recent Florida boycott? Due to the Zimmerman verdict.

People trying to get a law overturned via complaints to Disney.

I recently read an article about people boycotting orange juice from Florida too.

I would do it in a second if I thought it would accomplish something, but I think it's ultimately futile.

I'm not sure if its brilliant or crazy.

That's very kind of them to open up their reservations for others.

Wouldn't hurt my feelings one bit! Hopefully everyone will boycott and we'll be there all by ourselves

I don't get it. I understand Disney is a major corporation but what do they have to do with the Zimmerman case verdict?

In my opinion, I really don't care. If I want to go somewhere, (especially WDW) I will go there unless there is some major health/safety issue there. (Ex: Malaria, Food poisoning, etc). Some court ruling is NOT going to ruin my WDW vacation. On the other hand, It's less busy! No more FPs necessary.

Boycott away! It won't even make a dent in the crowds this time of year.

My guess is nothing but its in FL. If you don't go you hurt the state economy.

yeah that will show them-- take a state that has been ridden with bankruptcies and foreclosures, and try to slap them down again. what a great idea. That will show those 12 jurors. Next time they should bend to mob pressure instead of deliberating as they collectively see the evidence.

And I wouldn't mingd the lower crowds, either.:goodvibes

boycotting Florida makes NO sense whatsoever in relation to the Zimmerman trial... first off, the case was handled in a court of law and a panel of jurors... it just so happens the courthouse was in Florida. Florida tried to throw everything they could at him but there just wasn't enough evidence beyond a reasonable doubt whether we like the outcome or not... the justice system did what it was supposed to do. I didn't like the verdict in the Casey Anthony or OJ trial either, but the court system did was it was designed to do... if you can't prove it beyond a reasonable doubt...it's over.

A lot of people (including the horrible media these days) is forgetting the stand your ground law (that many people are protesting and boycotting for), wasn't even used as a defense in this case at all.... so again, none of this makes sense

if they want to boycott Florida and stop coming to Disney let 'em... shorter lines for us lol

There were only 6 jurors..But if folks want to boycott that is their right. Maybe the traffic will be less when I drive in next week.

The goal is for FL to repeal the right to stand your ground law. Although not used by the defense it may serve encourage people like Zimmerman.

Will a boycott work? Only if it results in significant number of compamies and organizations cancelling meetings and conventions. Probably not even then.

:thumbsup2 Exactly!

There's another case that starts in September that happened right down the street from me, here in Jacksonville, FL. THAT case has used the "stand your ground law". I see this one going the opposite way though.

Here's some news about the Jordan Davis case.

Now, Jacksonville is my hometown. I LOVE my hometown...but it's not the safest place anymore. But this will have no recourse on other places in Florida. Maybe it will shorten the lines at Disney :banana::banana:. That's the only effect I can see it actually making, and even then I doubt it.

Spot on!:thumbsup2

They are #1 trying to get GZ tried again in a federal court for civil rights violations, but I thought having your gead pounded into concrete and defending yourself is your civil right.#2 Florida is a swing state and to question the decisions of a Florida jury, questions the rights of a state to do basicslly anything, let big brother fix it. #3 Hurt those people in that state so thst 1&2 will be done. Goes agsinst everything Disney represents. So if they don't come the rest of us can do more things, just do not think the international visitors give a hoot beyond laughing at us.
