Yes and yes.

If you're going to be there 16 days, you'll like having the PAP flexibility. Don't forget the TiW card for those great dining discounts!

I can tell you that Metsoskil's advice is spot-on. I would also strongly suggest one of the Disney Dining Plans. Then, you won't really have to worry about how much discount this pass or that pass gets you at any particular restaurant. If you do purchase a dining plan, though, make sure that you know whether the restaurants that you've selected 1.) accept the plan (most do), and 2.) cost more than 1 table-service. For example, Le Cellier (at EPCOT) used to only cost 1 table service. Effective this year, it costs two.

We wish! It's a long trip but we're coming from Australia so have to make it worth the long flight.

It's amazing how many reasons you find to come back for a 2nd...3rd trip once you have those passes. It is definitely worth the money!

oh, yeah! we have AP's and are renewing...now we are SURE we need to book a trip in march and one next October--I wanna take all the grandkids for the MNSSHP!!

I find that with the AP it is better to do Tables in Wonderland instead of Disney Dining Plan. I found with DDP I was having to order stuff I didn't want, ie at QS the desserts are just ok and I never buy them but they are counted in with the savings on DDP --- at TS if I want 2 apps and a dessert no can do on disney dining

Even with "free" dining you have to pay more for room plus a 2 day ticket to get free dining.

Just to be clear, one of the water parks is always open, even in the winter, so you could go to a water park if you were interested.

The additional savings on the premium anual pass would not be worth it to most people if you aren't also going to do multiple water park/DQ visits. For the additional 10% shopping savings to break even you'd have to be spending $1000 EACH on merchandise. Is know you said you were planning to buy a lot of gifts, but are you planning on $2000? If not, I would get the regular ap's, and if you're planning to do a lot of table service dining, possibly tiw. We have had it several times, but didn't get it this year. There are lists online of restaurants that participate in each discount, so you should compare where you plan to eat against the lists to see if the cost might be worth it to you. The year we got married at Disney we had a lot of large group meals, so it saved us a ton! Now that we have a toddler ts meals are harder to do, so we don't do nearly as many, making the card much less of a deal!

Chiming in here.

1. Get the regular AP. Since you will not be doing the water parks, getting the PAP really is not needed. And the difference between the 10% and 20% merchandise discount at certain stores is really not worth the extra $138.45 per pass.

2. On your first visit to DQ buy a ticket for $45.80 If you expect to do more than two visits, as DQ AP is $94.75, you can upgrade your one day ticket on the date of purchase.

3. The Tables in Wonderland Card, which will cost an additional $75 over the AP cost (no tax on this) is good for up to ten people at a very wide variety of locations. Here is more information about TiW

when considering Tables in Wonderland, you have to take into account the price of TiW then figure out is it worth the extra 10% you may be saving since some of the places you can already get 10% off with just an AP, not all but some... It also depends on how many times you will use it too..
