While we were there I saw an incident take place between a woman and her son of approximately 7 years old.. He was angry about something he wanted to see or do that she wasn't allowing and they got into a battle like you wouldn't believe.. Finally he said, "I'm doing it!!" She said, "Fine - and I hope you get lost!!" He took off like a shot and she turned around and walked away in the other direction.. I watched for a minute (surely she would go after him) but she didn't!!

She just walked away and never looked back!!!!!

I literally thought I was going to vomit - my insides were shaking like crazy.. A little boy - all alone - in a massive crowd of strangers in the Magic Kingdom??????

To me, that was abusive - or at the very least, major neglect..

Wow, there have been times when I wanted to leave my son, but I'd never do it.

Maybe there was someone else with them that you didn't see. ( I hope this was the case)

Oh, Gosh! They were probably talking about me! Just kidding.

I did scold my 5 y/o once, very soundly, right on Main Street, USA. He made a rude comment to DH and I wanted to put a stop to that attitude right away.

Even though we are on vacation we are still parents and are responsible for our children's behavior.

Is this what I have to look forward to??? We are leaving in ten days for our first trip ever to DW. My kids are 6 (DS) and 4 (DD). I am bringing two strollers for both of them, so there is no arguing or whining that their feet hurt. Any other advice. My DD has more stamina that my son. He always want to leave places earlier than expected. I am hoping this will not be the case. But I do plan to get to the parks early and then go back to the hotel when they get tired and perhaps back in the evening. We are also bringing reinforcements (Nannie and Papa). I figure if I am on the verge of losing it, I can hand them over to them:smooth:

tamman: looks like you've got a better than average chance of having a good vacation! If at all possible: everyone should bring along Nannie and Papa!

(Didya ever notice how kids behave MUCH better for people who are not their parents!)

Some people tend to forget this.

I swore I would never say it, but one time my son just pushed and pushed and I said it. I wasn't yelling but I was speaking firmly. "You better shape up do you realize how much money we spent............." I swallowed the last half of my sentence since I swore I would never say it. Little turkey goaded me into it.

He has yelled at me. We pushed him past his limits because he has idiots for parents. He was screaming "I want a new family" I muttered under my breath I want a new kid until he did take off running. We immediately alerted security and for about 5 min (it felt like 5 years) I prayed for my little guy to come back. He was on time out for the rest of the day!

Knowing how I felt that day I can't even imagine intentionally leaving your child to fend for himself. Like I said I hope someone else was really assigned to watch him.

Our last trip DS age 8 at the time didn't want to go on Test Track. He was literally hanging on the railing yelling "You CAN'T make me", DH and I both said Oh yes we can! The other two kids were laughing hysterically (7 and 9). DH kept saying between clenched teeth "Stop crying right now, I mean it", we looked like the most abusive family in the world. All the way through the movie portion he kept saying - "Are we going to do that"? In a worried voice while his siblings hooted. We got him on, he got off and immediatly ran off running to get in line again. We rode it 8 times in a row. We knew that would be the reaction we would get when we dragged his little butt on there but I'm sure anyone watching us probably thought what horrid parents. We all laugh about it now including him.

Childless people always think they know it all about rearing other peoples kids.
