When do Disney World 2018 packages go on sale??

Summer - probably June but they've been later some years.

You can book a room only ressie via phone now, then change to a package when they become available.

Spring yes. We booked our spring break vacation the last day of June last year (would have been sooner, but we needed a chance to look at our budget after reviewing prices) Not sure about when you can book summer but am interested to know this, too!

As I recall, when the room / package rates come out for next year, they will be for the entire year.

Is there a Room Only discount % pattern?
Usually it's something like 15%-25% off, so does specific Hotels or Hotel Levels receive the higher discount?

We're looking at a split stay in Jan with either Coronado & POFQ or WL & Coronado/POFQ.
All depending on rates / discount / refurbishment / availability.

Same here - hoping for 20% at POP for February, same as this year.

Mousesavers has historical discount info but I don't know how specific it is. I think Deluxe discounts tend to be higher than Mods/Values. POFQ is often excluded from discounts or has very limited availability because it's so small and popular.

You can book before the discount is released. When it is, call right away and request it. If you don't do it right away, the might run out of discounted rooms. But we've always done it that way and have only once (when we waited a few days past the release of a discount) not gotten our room with the discount. We did it that way when we booked our hotel for spring break. We made the reservation last summer for a theme park view room at the Contemporary. We called when the discount was announced, and they applied it (25%, I think) to our room.
