Disney Wonder September 3, 2012. Seattle to Vancouver 7 night Alaska Cruise!

Got my cruise docs!!

For those who are concerned about rain in Seattle, you should know that it very rarely rains hard to enough to warrant an umbrella. It's more like a drizzle, leaky faucet type of thing. That is why you will see most Seattle natives with hooded sweatshirts, jackets, etc... Because its not a hard rain.

As someone who has lived in the south (GA) I can promise you it's not the humidity you are thinking of. Basically, if it's a rain day, it's a cool day. We don't get that hit humid, steamed up glasses junk. ;) if it is rainy, it is cooler, and you will probably need a sweatshirt or light jacket.

The key is layers! Always layer!

That's helpful! Was worried it might be pouring down like the UK the whole of this summer:sad2:

Starting to think about what to pack now!

The last month countdown is always the most exciting!

Is anyone else staying over in Vancouver after the cruise? Trying to work out best hotel/location for convenience. We stay just one night, so want an easy transfer from cruise dock following disembark, and then to get to airport next morning. Any ideas?

Less than 24 hours for people to join the FE list!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tick tock, tick tock....

If you aren't involved yet- GET INVOLVED! We are gonna have a blast!

Today I accidentally stumbled into a fantastic gift for the FEs, and I wasn't even looking for anything like that when I found it!

Just a quick reminder: the FE cut off date is Aug 1st. Just send me your info and I'll add you to the list.

An updated list will be sent out Mon

I hate to ask, since you're already doing so much to get this list together, but is there any chance we could get the list on Friday so we have it for the weekend? Or at least an updated number of the cabins participating?

I hope the list stays as one - I'm beyond excited about having a larger group than last time! And with so many of us on Deck 7, there won't be too much searching the ship! :rotfl2:

A list with the people's char is all I need. I'm thinking of making things based on the perfered char. When you get around to it. Thanks.:flower3:

The FE is officially closed.

We have 23 rooms signed up. The majority of you voted for 1 list, so we are not splitting it. I will be mailing out the final list in a few minutes. We are still waiting for some room numbers. Just remember to email me when this info becomes available and I'll update everyone accordingly. :dance3:

Would anybody be interested in a pre-cruise meet in Eastside Seattle? If so, let me know.

Hi everyone - welcome to those I have not met yet!
I have been away from the boards for a couple weeks and so much has happened... took forever to catch up.

So glad to see our FE list has grown!
I am happy to keep it to one list, especially since we still have a small number of kids.

My daughter Macy is 10 and thrilled to see some new kids, especially one turning 9 on our cruise : )

I need to look up and post our port adventures, I think we will be seeing some of you on a few of them.

We received our cruise docs today... yippee!

My friends and family from Alaska have told me no umbrellas, just rain gear. (apparently umbrellas are for sissys?? LOL) I am not sure about packing shorts, I love cold weather but every trip report I look at has cruisers in full on winter gear. Maybe they are wimps, but I suspect at least some of the time we should plan to be chilly : )

We are originally from So. California but now live in Eastern Washington where we very much enjoy our snow, so I like to think we have developed some thick skin... but who knows? (Really, Macy and I like cold, it is Greg that may need his winter coat) Has anyone started packing? My guest bedroom has several piles of "Alaska stuff" at the moment ready to go.

That's just weird to me. I'm guessing this all is based on local culture? When I visited Ireland and England, it lightly drizzled a few times and everyone had their wool cloaks on and an umbrella. Other raingear would be out of place and scream "tourist". The only other times I've seen other raingear were in theme parks.

I plan on sticking with a heavy sweatshirt or an umbrella. They can target me as a tourist but I refuse to don a parka! :joker:

A couple of notes for everyone:

1) DH's favorite is the Mad Hatter from the animated movie, NOT Johnny Depp :P

2) This is our first cruise to Alaska, and first on the Disney Wonder

3) We probably won't know our stateroom until 2 weeks out (VGT)

Hoping to find some cool pirate stuff this weekend... pirate:

Sedgha,

Who is in which stateroom? I'm giving gifts per family/stateroom and want to make sure the gifts are sent to the proper room and are decorated according to the occupants. :thumbsup2

Hopefully that makes sense? :confused3

Ok so there goes my plan for the umbrella...

Windy ports.

Living in Colorado, we have no rain gear. I've been shopping around, but I doubt I'll spend any money to get rain clothes I'll never wear again. Before our Disney trip last year, when the weather was looking really bad, I went shopping for "nice" ponchos. They weren't the best, but I found some at Walmart for around $4 each. They have a little carrying pouch and they snap at the side. I think my husband ripped his during the Disney trip, but mine and my sons stayed intact. We did end up with soaked jeans and shoes though. Has anyone had any experience with that waterproof spray for shoes that people keep talking about? I worry about it ruining the shoes. Maybe the more we plan for rain, the less there will be! :thumbsup2
