Disney Wonder September 3, 2012. Seattle to Vancouver 7 night Alaska Cruise!

I heard that the high tea is being phased out due to lack of interest (I can't believe it). Anyone know if it's currently being offered on the Wonder, and if it will be on our sailing?

Nevermind - apparently the August 13 sailing will have the last high tea on the Wonder. :sad1: Just missed it... at least I have fond memories from our Magic cruise in 2003.

I absolutely love it. Thats a great idea. If i had children i hope i would be that creative. My children ARE my cats.......and they would eat it, after tearing down the bookshelf.

Pssss.....So glad your kid is that excited!

Here is a picture of our family (ALL of us including the fur and feather kids with a tiny bit of help from photoshop and a lot of patience :artist:).

We are:
LEFT: Amy (me-whosgoofy) with my dogs Kashi and Rio and my African Grey Parrot Echo
MIDDLE: Allen with his dog Cricket in his lap and Bud in the background.
RIGHT: Susie (zookeepersusie) with her dogs Roxy and Flash and Conure Tweety.

Started to look at options getting back to Seattle from Vancouver and not coming up with many good ones.

So far, Quick Shuttle seems the best. The few car rentals found would be $250-300! Amtrak the full way doesn't leave until 5:45p getting in at 10:10p. Not sure what to do with our luggage in between.

Is anyone else making this trek? If so, how?

Does anyone have any other creative ideas?

Thanks for any thoughts!

I'm taking the QuickShuttle--I live outside Seattle and have relatives in Richmond, BC, and that is our "mode of choice" to visit everyone. It's so convenient--it picks you up at the port, or your hotel, and drops you right off in downtown Seattle or at Sea-Tac. It will also wait for you if there is a delay in deboarding the ship. We've been very pleased, overall.

If any First-timers cruisers want additional ideas for either FE gifts or what some folks have for their FE..Check out Pinterest! I'm addicted to that site for everything! :surfweb:

We were able to rent a car for about $120. It's from Avis and I guess I got lucky??? I've been checking Alamo and National daily since those two are actually at the port. Avis has to come and pick us up. When I checked Avis again recently, the price skyrocketed! I would love to take the train, but the times are just horrible. Especially since we're flying home the same day. We figured the $120 was cheaper than Quick Shuttle and we get to do things on our own time. If we had infinite time and money, we'd spend a day or two in Vancouver and then take the morning train.

Maybe rent a mini-van and see if there are other folks that could split the cost??? :confused3

Here are pictures of me with DS right after we debarked from the Dream last January, and DH with DS on that same trip. The numbers we're indicating with our fingers are part of a countdown of all the different modes of transportation we managed to use on the trip (15 in all!)

To help my son understand that it will be quite a few days until we sail away (he tends to assume it will happen "this weekend"), tonight we made a countdown chain. First loop gets removed tomorrow morning! :hyper: Assuming the cats don't tear it down first...

That's really cute. I have an old Xmas countdown timer ornimant that I have hanging over my desk counting down to the trip. :cool1:

I was just thinking this... Maybe if we get enough people we can get a group rate. It does look like the QuickShuttle is the best option though. I saw somewhere that they has a AAA discount if you charter a bus, but can't find it any more.

Got room in your trunk for us?! :rotfl:

Should you rent a car from one of the other agencies, please let me know and I'll take your one from Avis!

I don't think we'll even have room in the trunk for all our luggage! :lmao:

If I see cars available, I'll let everyone know!

I am getting a quote for a group rate from QuickShuttle. Didn't know how many would be interested? Probably need 10 or so to get the rate, if they offer one.

Unfortunately, we're leaving a few days later.

A couple months ago Alaska Air was over booked and bumped me from a flight. Now we get to fly back to Seattle on their dime.

Did we officially decide the DISmeet time and place or are we still holding off on that? My last cruise had a meet at 3 (I think) in the Promenade lounge (Is that only on the Magic?). With the exception of our group, it was empty.

I thought we were holding off on that. Does everyone have their arrival times? Maybe we can get everyone to agree on something. Our last cruise we did the exact same as you and it was pretty well attended. I think we also planned a meet up for drinks on our at sea day. I missed that because we had brunch.

I think our muster drill is at 4pm and then the sail away party at 4:30pm. I would think 3pm should work. What does everyone else think?

We plan to board the ship around 11:30, so our afternoon is open. DS will (hopefully) take a nap at some point, but it's hard to predict when that will happen - on the Dream, he finally fell asleep about 15 minutes before the muster drill, and DH had to carry him, still mostly asleep and in a tshirt and underwear, to the Walt Disney Theater. ;)

I should be able to make the DISmeet, at a minimum!

And yes, there's a Promenade Lounge on the Wonder as well.
