Disney Wonder September 3, 2012. Seattle to Vancouver 7 night Alaska Cruise!

Yeah, you're right... I guess we'll all be sleeping with the tv on!:happytv:

I am a little concerned with one of my kids sleeping on the upper bunk bed :scared: and would have preferred a family deluxe room but all well... maybe I can put his mattress on the floor.:scratchin

So much planning has gone into this trip I'm going to need a vacation when I come back from it!

Don't worry about the top bunk. It is perfectly safe and there isn't a lot of floor space anyway. They will come in at night and drop the bunk and move the coffee table.

We skipped the shorts. I figure even if it is not cold, it is not so hot that we can't wear jeans or pants. We packed lots of things that can be layered. Long sleeved tees, thin fleece, etc.

I'm packing one pair of shorts just for sleeping. They are plain black so if it is unusually hot, I can use them for a day outfit. I plan on taking mostly jeans, thin long sleeve shirts, a zip up hoodie, and maybe a short sleeve shirt or two. I am mostly cold but get overly warm sometimes so better safe than sorry.

A variety is best since we don't know exactly how the weather will be. It could be rainy, it could be sunny, by the glacier will definitely be cooler/colder than the rest of the trip. My suggestion is to bring layers, a fleece or thinly insulated jacket, a hat, and gloves. :thumbsup2 Obviously, sneakers too even though I'll mostly be walking around the ship in flip flops. I save sneakers for excursions. :goodvibes

I just realized the closeness of the trip. :faint: Only 12 days til we set sail. That means only 11 to go until my crew leaves for Seattle. Therefore, only 10 days left to finish FE gifts and pack!!!!!! :scared1: Where did the time go? I'm a procrastinator so the homestretch is always frantic for me. Is there anybody that is completely organized and not stressed during the planning process?

I want to introduce myself, my name is Amy and I am going to be on this cruise. This is my first cruise on Disney, did Royal Carribean several years ago. I am going early to Seattle and staying a bit in Vancouver. I want to tour those places. I hope to meet some of you. I am getting very excited about this trip.

I nominate myself for being the LEAST prepared for this trip! lol. I haven't had a chance to think about what to bring, what to do in port, etc. I have a flight and hotel for the night before the cruise.... that's as far as I got for the most part. I always hate last minute prep but it looks like I'm headed for that now :scared:

You have the big stuff covered... the rest will work itself out :cheer2:

For those of you coming in early, I will recommend some of our favorite places to eat...

@PikePlaceMarket: Lowell's (quick service; grab an upstairs table an enjoy the view); Etta's (you can't go wrong with Tom Douglas fare); 3 Girls (quick service; Generous portions/ sandwiches)...

Seattle Art Museum Taste - fun happy hour food selection

Belltown/ 1st ave: Macrina (wonderful bakery, better coffee than Starbucks)
Belltown/ 4th ave: Dahlia (reservations recommended; another Tom Douglas delight); Lola (across the street, also a Tom Douglas)
Belltown/ 5th ave: Top Pot Doughnuts (large, dense doughnuts; excellent coffee); icon Grill (quirky but homey; reservations accepted)

Lake Union/ Eastlake: Serafina (on Eastlake; reservations recommended); Lunchbox Laboratory (burgers & quirky/fun decor); Blue Moon Burgers (quick service); Serious Pie (Tom Douglas' take on Pizza- there is one in Belltown, too); Cafe Vivace (across from REI; easily best coffee/espresso in Seattle, possibly beyond)

Pizza: if you are a pizza connoisseur it is worthwhile to trek to the Northlake Tavern & Pizza house southwest of the University of Washington (note they only seat 21 & up, but you can order to go).

Bagels: the best Bagels in Seattle come from Blazing Bagels, open weekdays and during ball games at the location on 1st at safeco field (open daily in Redmond and weekdays in Bellevue) - yes you can take their food into the ball games.

Family pub: Pyramid Brewery (across from Safeco Field) has a small area where they will seat under 21 for meals.

This is not intended as an exhaustive list - others may give you equally great or even more popular/heavily visited ideas. Enjoy Seattle while you are here. There will be some tough traffic with home games at both Century Link Field  and Safeco field on Saturday the 1st. Plus there is a game at 1pm at Safeco field on the day of departure which may impact late air arrivals (though I don't want to worry anyone :scared1:).

Whew that's a lot to read :faint: but planning is at least half the fun!;)

Hi all! Does everyone have their room assignments? I'm done with my FEs and am dying to pack them (so that I can say something is packed). I still need THNLK, Patapat, and Katwillows room numbers. Does anyone have them?

Is anyone else going to the Mariners game on Sunday? We're still considering going over to Pyramid after the game.

These are depressing links right now, but if anyone would like a shortcut to September weather for our ports, here are the links I have bookmarked:

Two weeks from today we will be waking up in Skagway!:banana:

Those are the only ones I'm missing as well. AprilN is going to try to get hers changed so I made a note of that. Patapat stated that their stateroom was listed on Deck 2 under the Sports Diversion. So we at least know the deck!

As of tomorrow morning, we leave in one week... 7 days... 168 hours (+21 for today). I'm at that point where I don't know whether to be excited or frantic. We'll see how the packing goes this week. :)

Ooh, not liking the game on the embarkation day! We almost always travel the day before, just to be sure. But this trip Our DS(20), who plays college soccer on the east coast, is traveling with his team to play here in Denver on Friday and Sunday! We are so excited to watch him play without having to travel to PA. But now we have to deal with traveling on embarkation day :-( And that list of restaurants is pretty impressive too! Won't have a chance to check them out.

Keep in mind that the Bumbershoot Festival is going on all that weekend (including Monday) at Seattle Center. Parking will be difficult, so I hear.
